I like the amount of rental in their database to help you match what they had available to your needs.

Excellent service and they do their best to help you any way they can. They take you out to see the units and make sure you are satisfied. They are also extremely polite and professional. I am very pleased and would highly recommend The Apartment People.

They say their services are free but indirectly we pay them our first month rent. They have a contract with the landlord, so I don't pay them directly, which is important. They have pretty good customer service. They are willing to drive you along and look into places, which is really nice. They are not overtly rated but I think that they are limited to a white middle class neighborhood and that service would be very much needed by a lot more people. If we go to search for an apartment with them, we are limited to areas that are very much white middle class.

My girlfriend tried to use Apartment People during her search for an apartment. At first, it seemed like a great company. The agent that she contacted, Mitch, called her back right away and took down her information: price range, neighborhood she wanted to look in, type of apartment, etc. He told her to meet him at the office on Monday to look at some places. Having worked with other agencies before, she showed up expecting to go see some apartments. Instead, she sat in the lobby of the building for 30 minutes. The agent finally came down, introduced himself and said he would be with her in 5 minutes. 15 minutes later, he comes back down, and tells her to come upstairs with him (without once apologizing for keeping her waiting for over 45 minutes).Upstairs, he sits down with her and re-takes down the exact information that he took down on Saturday, asks her what units she has already seen, and types on his computer for a few minutes before informing her that one of the units she has already seen was the only one he had available. She left without seeing a single unit. What a waste of time! Don't bother with these people, they are unprofessional, and there are tons of other great agencies that will actually listen to you, and have real apartments to show you. Also...as a side note- this place promises free cookies while you wait as a gimmick to get you inside...except all the agents that work there had swooped in and eaten all the cookies before any of the waiting customers could have any.

I was scheduled to move in mid-July, and the landlord had decided to rehab the units so that heat would be paid for by the tenant, without telling anyone. So a) the apartment was not ready for move in and b) the lease was changed without my approval (heat was supposed to be included). This situation was really a problem with the landlord, not the Apartment People, but they didn't advocate on my behalf at all. The apartment was a mess, with holes in the wall, drywall dust everywhere, and totally unready for renting. Very different from my initial visit. Once they set me up with the place, the company took a hands free approach even though they had been communicating as a middle-man with the landlord the whole time. They kept insisting that I should take the place because he had agreed to lower the rent a little, and it "was a good deal". But it was still not ready to move in! I had already paid a hefty deposit and then when the landlord gave it back to me, his check bounced. I had moving truck coming from NY and I ended up putting all my stuff in storage and having to move it again once I got a new place when I arrived in town in late August.; This move cost me a lot of grief because the check bouncing also caused a delay with my ATM card at the bank, and the Apartment People didn't seem to want to do anything to make it up to me, except show me more places. I found a better place on my own through Craigslist.

I felt like I got great individual service considering how large this company is.
