Sweep Home Chicago

I asked that they bring a step ladder with them because there was dust everywhere from the floors being refinished. They did not actually bring the step ladder. Their cleaning of the kitchen and bathrooms was very thorough.

(Written by Christine Zgonina) Today I have terminated my use of Sweep Home Chicago for cleaning service. For a little over a year, I have used Sweep Home to clean my home every two weeks while traveling for work. There have been consistent and reoccuring issues over the course of the year that led me to call / log complaints with members of Sweep Home's office staff on multiple occaisions. Issues include: 1. Returning home on a Thursday evening only to find the door to the deck / backyard / alley has been left wide-open since Monday's cleaning, with only an unlocked screen door providing a barrier to my home. 2. Returning home on a seperate Thursday evening to find the front door to my home closed, but completely UNLOCKED. 3. On the same return trip, walking in to my home and finding my plasma television has been left on as of Monday; while the cable was turned off, the television screen had been on / burning as of Monday's cleaning. 4. Trash removed from the kitchen and bathrooms were stored in bags on my back deck rather than placed in the garbage cans in the alley. 5. Dirty dishes were left in the dishwasher / dishwasher was not turned on to wash the dishes. 6. Baseboards were continuously neglected / dirty with dust, etc. 7. For each interior room with a door (bedrooms, bathrooms, etc.), the cleaners failed on multiple occaisions to actually sweep and wash behind the doors. So while bedrooms and bathrooms were 'cleaned,' dust mites, dog hair, etc. remained on the floor between each door. 8. Air / heating vents along the floor were never mopped or wiped down. 9. Timliness / puntuality issues: On the occaisions where I was present during scheduled cleanings, the cleaners were rarely on time for the scheduled appointments. And the final issue that prompted me to immediately cancel my service with Sweep Home Chicago: I was told my house keys would be kept locked in the Sweep Home Chicago office at all times, unless a cleaning service was being conducted in my home. This morning (2/25/13), I had a cleaning scheduled for 8 am. I was called by the Sweep Home Chicago office around 8:10 am; the office staff said their cleaner was waiting outside of my house, and could I let her in, as the former Sweep Home employee who cleaned my home had resigned from the company, and still possessed / had not returned my keys to the Sweep Home office. This was such a complete breach of the promise made by Sweep Home Chicago. I did go to the front door, and of course no one from Sweep Home Chicago was waiting outside. When Sweep Home Chicago called back at 8:35 am to ask that I open the door because the cleaner was outside, I again found no Sweep Home employee outside. I then told the Sweep Home office admin on the phone that I was terminating my relationship with the company. Of course many apologies were made and the history of issues were re-hashed, but there is no excuse for such a lack of professionalism, lack of attention to detail, and abuse of keeping my home safe.

Overall, we were not impressed with the quality of work. Two cleaners for 5 hours were able to clean 4-1/2 bathrooms, two utility/laundry rooms, a foyer, and a few kitchen cabinets. I understand that it was a move in clean and the house was dirty (the reason we hired the cleaners) but we were curious why it took them an average of 1-1/4 man hours per room. Second, the quality was ok but not idea. While they were very detail oriented in some of the areas (cleaning cabinets, for example) there were other areas they missed. I found two showers with dirt on the walls / floor (I ran my fingers across the shower wall and they were dirty). I pointed this out to one of the cleaners and she said she would clean it again, but upon a second inspection it still wasn’t clean. We will call Sweep Home this week to report the same concerns but we would likely not use them again. We have more cleaning which needs to be done (the crew at the house needed to leave at 2 pm – which we were ok with) so we’ll try another provider.

They were on time and they always contact me back when I try to make an appointment unlike lot of companies that did not call me at all.

They came regularly once every three weeks and cleaned our home. They always did a great job!!

I hired them to do a condo clean out to get my unit ready for the rental market. They did a great job. They accidentally broke something and let me know immediately. Which I very much appreciated, as I may not have noticed that it was broken. They were very willing to replace the broken item and handled it with professionalism and speed, with no hassle what-so-ever.

It's always a smooth process with Sweep Home Chicago. They are always very accommodating as they have many crews doing their cleanings. Sweep Home is always extremely punctual, which is very important to me. The cleanings are very thorough... only one time did we have a complaint from one of our tenants and they came back and cleaned again... for free! Good job Sweep Home!

I thought they were ok. I think the difficulty for us came with trying to nail down a time regarding scheduling. Also, I requested that the same employees come for each appointment, but they did change frequently. That being said, I think their work was done well the majority of the time.

I think they were fine. They showed up on time, and completed the work to my satisfaction.

They are really great! They pay attention to detail, and they won't hesitate to take of the little things.

We were in need of a move-in housecleaning for a quick turnaround on our rental property. I left a message for Sweep Home Chicago on Sunday and received a call back Monday morning. We were able to schedule the cleaning for Tuesday morning. The cleaning lady (Christine) was a little late, however she did an exceptional job on a very dirty apartment. The previous renters had two little dogs and seemingly never cleaned in a year. She brought all the cleaning supplies and spent about 4 hours cleaning 1000 sq ft (2 bed, 2 bath). We paid $165. We greatly appreciate the service and a job well done. We highly recommend Sweep Home Chicago.

We hired Sweep Home Chicago to do a move in clean and then contracted them to do a weekly clean. They made a great first impression but just recently discovered that the maid who was hired to clean our house didn't even clean the bathroom counter. Which makes me wonder what else she didn't clean, since that is so obvious. Also, she has not replaced our small garbage can liners and left garbage inside the house. We are paying twice as much for this service and not happy with the outcome.
