Shingle replacement

I am very pleased with them. They were efficient, professional, and competitively priced.

It went well. Pete was very easy to work with and responsive. When he said his people would clean up every day, they did. I had loads of questions before I would sign and he answered all of them. The only reason I rated a B for price is because I always want the price cheaper! But he was fair in his pricing.

We have been very satisfied with our new roof but this year we had a problem with our ceilings leaking. Also our skylights were dripping so we called Pete of Smart Roofing to come out and check our roof, thinking we had some kind of leak. Pete came out and thoroughly checked our roof inside and out...taking pictures of everything he saw. I was very impressed with his thoroughness. After he had checked everything out, he talked to my husband and myself of the problems he saw. Our roof was fine but insulation was missing in our attic space causing the leaking problems. Mr. Konopka answered all the questions we had and explained everything that needed to be done on our part. He was very helpful.

After an August microburst, hail damaged the four-year old roof to the extent the insurance company said it needed replacing. We got estimates from three roofing companies(found on Angie's List)and decided to go with Smart Roofing because of the price and we liked the guy from Smart who did the estimate. By the time the insurance check came, the temperature had dropped and the work had to be postponed to the following Spring. Smart honored the price quoted in the estimate given in the previous Autumn. When the work was completed, the roof looked great and a neighbor in the "trades" who had watched the roofing work commented on the quality of the workmanship.

It went very well when they actually started the work. Overall they did a good job. There was a little damage that was done to the siding but I just got a check in the mail for the damages.

When I called Smart Roofing, Pete Konopka promptly returned my phone call and set up an appointment to come out to our home to give us an estimate. When he came, he checked out our roof and then printed out a very detailed estimate for us. His estimate included the exact type of shingle, of course, but also included all of the other types of materials that the roofers would use, from the ice and water shield to the type of wood to the felt base that was put down before the shingles. We were really confident of the work that would be done because it was all in writing. Pete also explained that Smart Roofing is a GAF certified contractor, which allows them to have a transferable extended manufacturer's warranty, lasting more than 25 years. The warranty covered not only materials, but also all labor, if there is a manufacturer's defect in the shingles, and it is not prorated as the roof ages. Because we know we won't be in this home for the long haul, this was a huge selling point for us. When I called Pete back after our estimate to tell him that we decided to go with Smart Roofing, he set up another appointment with me to come to our home, answer any questions, drop off some larger shingle samples, sign contracts and take our deposit. At that time, he said that the roofers would probably be over in 2-3 weeks, depending on the weather, and that he would call to let me know they were coming 24-48 hours ahead of time. Two and a half weeks later, Pete called to say that the roofers were ready to make their way to our home the next day. Pete was even willing to try to work around my schedule if necessary, which was really nice because I am a stay-at-home mom with two-year-old twins. When he called, he explained the entire process of the day again for me, and everything the next day went exactly as he explained. The roofers arrived at 7:15 am and promptly began setting up and got to work. I think that the roof of my house was all the way off by around 8:30 am, at which point my boys and I left until early afternoon. Our dumpster arrived at around 9:00 am, and when I arrived back at home, the main part of the roof was completely finished, most of the debris was cleaned up and workers were finishing the bay window and shed. Everything was cleaned up and the roofers were gone by 5:00 pm. The men who came and did the actual work on our house were great. They were efficient and thorough and very polite. Two days after the work was finished, Pete came by our home again to drop off our final invoice. The cost was exactly what was estimated plus the cost of wood replaced on our roof and the village permit (costs I knew would be added). I cannot recommend Smart Roofing enough. The high quality materials, the excellent quality of work and the wonderful customer service made the process of having my roof torn off a wonderful one.

Rich gave a competitive estimate and delivered exactly what he promised. They started on time and cleaned up when finished. They also didn't wreck any of my landscaping!!! When I told them of a formerly unfixable leak in our ceiling, the Foreman, Stanley, brainstormed until he found a complicated solution. Two yrs. later, NO LEAKS, and still a gorgeous roof.

It went very well. Their crew showed up on the promised date and time. A large dumpster was delivered a couple of hours later. They proceeded in sections, working almost non-stop over two and one half days. They took great care to protect plants and shrubbery, and removed all the debris. The crew was polite and professional. The dumpster was removed the day after they left. Very organized and efficient.

Great experience - quick response to my initial call (on the recommendation from my next door neighbor). Pete Konopka visited my home, examined my roof, and thoroughly went over my replacement options. He was honest in telling me he was close to the end of the season, but would get the job done around Thanksgiving. He followed up with me with a scheduled date and had a dumpster delivered the Monday after Thanksgiving. The roof was almost completely done the first day. Rain prevented work the next day, but they returned and prepped for the following day. Despite nasty November weather, they finished the second day and completely cleaned up the yard. We would never have known they were there, they even used a magnet to pick up any nails that might have been missed. We are very satisfied.

VERY PROFESSIONAL. QUITE RESPONSIVE AND KNOWLEDGEABLE. PRICE WAS WAY TOO HIGH. I HAD ASKED FOR ANOTHER QUOTE, WHICH HE DID NOT PROVIDE. WHEN I CALLED HE SAID HE HAD ACTUALLY BEEN TO THE JOB SITE AND HAD SPOKEN WITH THE TENANT AND DID GET BACK TO ME.
