Servpro of Ravenswood

This unfortunately was the second time we've had need for ServPro of Ravenswood's services. But, after having such a great experience with them the first time, we knew just who to call when we needed water mitigation again. They were efficient and professional, and took great care of our home. I hope not to have need for their services again, but would highly recommend and have and would hire them again.

They were great, they were professional, on time, communicated with us and I like thema a lot.

When my roof leaked and I had water damage in my ceiling and walls, my insurance company recommended ServPro. Unlike the other water mitigation companies I called, ServPro responded to me promptly and maintained good communication throughout. Their work was thorough and efficient. They also communicated promptly with the insurance company and saved me from having to play go-between. Overall, I was impressed with their work.

Mikey came out to give me an estimate with Alex. They measured the area for the estimate and measured the wetness due to some water damage. They worked with an outsourced Allstate insurance agent, who was a pain. They never said a negative word about the experience. They came out to renegotiate with the insurance guy based on the actual damage and gave a detailed account of what Servpro needed to do to provide an optimal drying process. They were always calm and gave honest answers. They didn't sugar coat anything, which I liked, as it isn't fun to not live in your bedrooms for several days. So, let's not pretend like it's going to be better than it actually is. They always answered all of my questions. I read another review that insinuated that Servpro promotes DMD rebuilders. I never had that experience with Servpro. They never mentioned this and I had to ask them to give me a name. I directly asked Mikey and Daniel Nava, the office person, before they gave me DMD's name. I did not end up using them as I wanted my walls put back in on a Saturday and they didn't work Saturdays. On another note, I did have another water mitigation company out for a quote and the prices were comparable. The other company would have provided the rebuild too, but I felt like Servpro answered my questions a bit more in-depth than the other company and didn't seemed rushed in anyway during their free estimate. While I hope I never see them again, if I have to, I will use them again ;).

Servpro responded very quickly and at the time seemed very helpful. We had just bought our house and weren't too familiar with this process. When Servpro's work was reviewed by an Insurance Adjuster, he said they tore out more than they needed to and didn't have to do as much work as they did. Steve from Servpro met with the adjuster and defended everything that his company did. To be honest I don't know which one of them was right. Servpro knew our insurance would cover the work and did tear out A LOT. The insurance adjuster was a Catastrophe Insurance Adjuster, and from what I've heard they are stricter/pickier than regular insurance adjusters. Servpro also seemed hesitant to give us a price. Since Insurance was covering the repairs we didn't really push the issue. This eventually became a hassle because our Insurance company said the work should have only cost half of what Servpro was charging. Eventually our Insurance company decided to pay Servpro the full amount they asked for. One other small note, because our roof was damaged we needed to replace it. We asked Steve for recommendations. He first recommended someone who gave us an expensive estimate. Steve then recommended someone else (DMD Restoration) who had a more reasonable estimate. Afterwards we discovered that Servpro & DMD share the same address. I do wish Steve had disclosed his relationship with DMD. Its possible it was all above the board. But the fact that his first recommendation was really high, and that his second recommendation was an undisclosed business partner made me wonder if it was a set up. If I have water damage again, I would likely go back to Servpro. But I would get an estimate first and wouldn't ask for any recommendations.

That was fine. I just found the estimate to be kind of high.

First of all, something in your house flooded, and that STINKS. Once you get past the initial shock, you realize that you need some help cleaning it up and fixing the problem, which is probably going to be costly. Ugh. Here's the deal, when you have a problem like this, you really want it done quickly and done well. And at a reasonable price. I will tell you about my experience, and you can see why I highly recommend ServPro of Ravenswood. I got water int he basement. Not a foot of water or anything, but when you stepped on the carpet, it pooled up over your foot. And, it was wet EVERYWHERE. At first, I was going to try to clean it up myself. But, I decided it was jsut too big of a project. Wow. I was right about that. I called ServPro after seeing good reviews on YELP. I got an answer right away, and the rep took my information to have a rep call me back. He called within an hour and scheduled time to come out and take a look at the damage. I got the estiamte (a little over $4k), and was shocked it would cost so much, but then started doing more reserch, online, calling around, asking friends, etc. It seemed like from my research that the price was in line with where it should be, maybe a couple hundred more. They did work with me a bit on the price, gave me some helpful hints for my insurance (which did not cover the problem, of course). They did not include a fee for removal of the debris (a lot), worked with me a bit on the price. I did more research to make sure I really needed all the services they were offering (poured over the estimate line by line and looked it all up on the internet). What I learned is: anything the water touched has to go if you don't want mold/smelly basement. And, everything they were offering, I definitely needed. Within three days, they were at my house for the work. They were totally on time, professional, and Tom, the manager/owner of ServPro Ravenswood came himself to talk to us. They finished quickly and effeciently. A couple days later, came back to make sure everything was drying well, and a day or so after that, picked up the equipement. All good. Here is where ServPro really stands out: Tom called a few days after that to make sure everythign was good and offered us fans if we got any additional water. We couldn't get our problem fixed right away becuase of the Thanksgiving Holiday, and of course, it rained A LOT. Water again. Tom brought us more fans again to help us out. When his crew came to pick them up, they pointed out another place where the wood wasn't quite dry and left a fan with us longer. All for no charge. AND--my final bill came in lwoer than the initial estimate, they took 10% off the total price in the end. Sure, maybe you could get the work done a little cheaper, but you definitely won't have the peace of mind that the company is looking out for you like ServPro Ravenswood. This is a place that really knows what customer service is about. And I'm so grateful for the extra help that we received, that is why I feel compelled to write such a detailed and glowing recommendation. Because water in your basement SUCKS, but ServPro Ravenswood will take care of you.

I would work with them again in the future.

They did a good service but I feel it should have been less expensive since we did the majority of the work.
