This company is first rate.  Dan was professional, very accommodating of my hectic schedule, and, above all, decent and honest.  The price was very reasonable, which is especially noteworthy because he doesn't have much, if any, competition: there are virtually no other residential hood cleaning companies in Chicago.  I'd hire Dan and his partner, Mostapha, again in a minute.

It was good and I didn't have any problems.

I had spent a lot of time searching for someone to clean my residential kitchen hood/exhaust.  It's been at least five years of searching for someone to help with this.  I finally found Hoodz of North Side Chicago providing hood cleaning services in my area.  They were great.  Both of the owners met with me to first provide a free inspection and estimate explaining that they don't charge hourly but based on the particulars of the job.  They said that whether they needed 3 hours or 7 hours, the price would be the same and they would not leave until the job was done right.  I was told that they couldn't give a perfect estimate of time until they really got into the system during the cleaning and saw what was going on.  Being that I never had a cleaning done in over ten years that I've owned my unit, I thought it would likely be an all day job, but they were very honest and gave a loose estimate that it would only take around 4-6 hours.  They were on time for the initial inspection and the same guys (the owners) showed up on time for the cleaning.  Scheduling the cleaning was easy; they were able to accommodate a cleaning for a Sunday morning (as I work during the week) and were done in about 5 hours, allowing me to still do other things I had planned for that afternoon.  They were also very careful about keeping my kitchen clean by covering everything around my stove and below the hood with heavy plastic.  Also, they left the kitchen as it was before the cleaning, making sure to fully clean up after the job.  Both guys are very knowledgeable and helpful when it comes to explaining what they're cleaning and the importance of cleaning every part.  They showed me pictures of what my hood looked like behind the filters, which was completely caked with grease, and then again after they finished the cleaning - it shines almost like brand new!  With the amount of cooking I do and the variety of dishes I create, it was a wonder that I didn't have a fire with all that grease stored above my stove!  They didn't miss a corner.  They cleaned inside the duct and fan, took apart a portion of the hood, and separated every part and cleaned each and every area of every piece to make it look like a completely new system.  Afterwards they even explained how to maintain it in the future and left me some degreaser and showed me how to clean my filters periodically.  I would absolutely recommend Hoodz of North Side Chicago to anybody looking for a range hood cleaning!

Recommended.  Residential range hood was leaking grease onto a tile backsplash.  Dan & his tech were very professional, did a great job degreasing the hood & cleaning duct work & communication was excellent.  They also showed me how to properly maintain the range hood going forward.

It took me three years to find a company specialize range hood cleaning for residential homes. We do stir-fries quite often and the grease drips from the sides. The baffle filters do not work well even though we wash them in the dish washer quite often. Finally I got Mr. Grand's phone number from a commercial range hood cleaning company and his company does it. 
A few days later, Mr. Grand came with his technician to evaluate the work in order to give me a fair quote. During the visit, they were very polite and showed they are knowledgeable about this type of job. They gave me some directions on how to prepare for the cleaning day. The quote was very reasonable for the hours they would spend with two people. So we made the appointment and set the date. 
On the service day, both Mr. Grand and his technician were here on time. They took off their shoes and protected the area around the range and range hood. The technician carefully dissembled the hood and showed me the grease. He explained to me what he would do in details. Then they started clearning. They were quick and efficient. Later when my husband came back, the technician also showed my husband how to take the pieces apart and put them back, the tools he used for cleaning, ect. so that we can do it ourselves later. They were very detailed and covered every corner of the range and range hood. By the time they finished, the entire range (including the stove, burners, and grills) was like brand new, shining and clean. I was very happy.

The service provided by Hoodz was great. Our stove and hood look like new inside and out. The vent is opening properly again and I can see that all of the grease inside of the venting system is gone. We will continue to clean our hood/venting system periodically to prevent such heavy build up of grease/oil in the future. Not only did Hoodz leave our stove and hood in great shape, but they were meticulous in protecting all other surfaces in the kitchen and left our kitchen immaculate when they left too.
