Bad service. Bad facility. This is a homeless shelter, not a storage facility.
They have 2 large docks with an overhead door (so you can pull your car in).  One of them has been broken from the outside for over a year (something with the key pad).
I quickly learned that as you approach the early afternoon, especially on the weekends, it is difficult to get access.  The two spots will be occupied and the dollies be taken (they only have two).  So, we started to plan our visits for early in the day.  We would often try to go as soon as the facility opened (6am).  This approach proved to be problematic, and also immensely annoying, frightening and potentially dangerous.
Our first 6am visit was immediately twarted.  We entered the facility and as soon as we entered, I was startled by a woman who had essentially emptied her locker into the hallway. Dirty clothes and junk strewn all over.  She clearly had been in there all night, because there would be no way to empty all the contents in that short amount of time.  There would have been no way to get past her will all of my stuff. She looked at me with disgust, I turned around and quickly left to returned later that day.
There are a series of stories similar to this one: making noise myself while working in my locker, I hear rustling and realize I have awoken a couple that had been asleep inside a locker in the next aisle, I hear grumbling and talking and a few minutes later a dishelveled looking man left the facility.  Another time I saw a cheap cell phone charging in the hallway outlet and a man sleeping on the floor.  Another time, encountered a man using an electric shaver in the hallway (clearly starting his day).  Not even a flinch or any shame when he saw me.
I did complain about this early on to an employee after my first encounter of awakening someone, the employee told me he knew who it was and would address it.  I later came to realize, this was just the norm here.  If I go there and I DO NOT wake someone up, it is a shock.  That is how bad it is.  And it is not the same person, there are different people, because I've seen them.  It is so bad that they will be reported to the Chicago Housing Authority. And if someone is desperate to living in a stinky filthy storage locker, what else are they willing to do to "get by"? I always felt afraid and on guard.  We tried not to go there alone anymore.
The top of the lockers are covered with a caging material, almost like a chain link fence.  There was a plastic bag of socks, shampoo and junk someone had thrown on top of my locker, resting on the caging.  It sat there for over a year, until I finally decided to fish it out myself with a wire coat hanger and stood on some boxes. I've seen at least one more "bag" like that there.
Ending our lease was an absolute nightmare.  I emptied my locker on Saturday the 4th and went to the desk to terminate my account.  The representative told me I would have to physically come back on Monday because his "DM" (district manager?) would have to prorate my charges and deactivate the account. Ugh, fine. I called on Monday morning from work hoping to go during my lunch hour, no answer. Maybe he was with a client, fine. I went to lunch and tried calling in the afternoon to ask him if he was there, yes he was, told him I would be there in 15 minutes, he said yes.  I left work and drove over, only to find he had gone to lunch (the "back in an hour" sign was up).  Called him after his lunch and told him I couldn't leave work again like that so I would stop by at 5:30pm.  He said that wouldn't fly since the DM would be gone for the day.  So I had to ask my boss if I could leave for a second time. Finally got it resolved. It was so hard for them to do, almost like they'd never done it before.
We had two lockers, cancelled within days of each other and the second one was even worse to terminate.  For some reason on this one, it auto-billed us after termination.  It took days of frustrating phone calls and attempts to get it fixed.  It was only finally resolved because during on phone call, while trying to leave a voicemail for the DM, we accidentally hit the wrong button and got someone higher up.  She was outraged and resolved it right away.
I am just so glad to be out of there.
