What a nightmare – Power Home Remodeling / PowerHMG has created us a huge problem with credit score! I decided to purchase replacement for all our windows at a total cost of over 21k. The sales consultant proposed me financing through Wells Fargo (WF), who supposedly had the best interest rate, explaining that I would then pay my debt in installments over the next 7 years. He said that I was required to open a credit card with WF, but could just cancel this card when I received it in case I didn’t want to keep it. To my surprise, a couple of months later I received the credit card bill with the TOTAL BALANCE of 21K due! I can choose to pay the “minimum payment due” on a monthly bases for years and I realized that this is how the financing is done, which was never explained to us this way. As a result, my credit score is being hugely hurt, as theoretically I will be using almost 100% of my credit for many months. When I called PowerHMG Financing department and referred to my credit score concerns, they suggested me to call my bank and get a loan to pay for my debt with WF in advance. This is absurd! I would never have closed the deal if I knew this would happen. I received misleading explanation on the financing payment, which is now causing me a huge issue; therefore I am seriously considering taking a legal action against PowerHMG for bad faith.

Gutter Repair and Replacement, Roofing
$61,000
They came to my house to provide an estimate for roof replacement with new gutters. The inspection they performed was thorough, but the estimate on the amount of square footage for the roof was over estimated by a large factor. I was given a price quote of $69,000 to perform the work but if I signed a contract that day they would perform the job for $61,000 instead. The sales pitch went on for hours, they tried to give me the hard sell and told me that my roof needed replacement immediately. In the following weeks I received phone calls daily from power home remodeling to get me to accept their offer or to listen to a newly revised offer. The calls continued even though I told them NO that I was not interested in doing business with their firm. The calls stopped when I had another firm replace my roof for 1/3 the price of Power Home Remodeling. IF YOU GET A KNOCK ON YOUR DOOR FROM THIS COMPANY DO NOT ANSWER IT!

"We are sorry yo hear that your experience with Power was less than satisfactory. Clearly we do not intend for customers to come away from an interaction with Power feeling as you do. In our 25 years of business, we have never been the cheapest option available. We have, however, always delivered one of the best experiences in the industry. The remodeling industry as a whole carries a 68% complaint rate. Power's customer satisfaction rate for those who have had work done is between 95-99%. Having performed over 300,000 installations, we've found that homeowners are pleased overall with their decision to invest more to receive a premium product and installation as their home is often their largest investment. If you should ever wish to discuss your experience further, please feel free to reach out to us directly through our Customer Service Team at 888-736-6335, option 4 at the prompt. It was an excellent experience, all-around. Spending a lot of money for a roof is not much fun, but every single representative of the company was courteous, professional, and helpful. We worked with a several Power HRG people, including a salesman, inspector, onsite foreman, quality control, and scheduler. All of them went out of their way to make this a good experience for us. You can tell by the people that they are a quality company that stands by their work. I also liked that the company has been around for about 25 years. A Power Home Remodeling representative came to the door and asked if we wanted to set up a time for a quote in a few days. We knew were were going to be due for a new roof soon (roof was 20 years old), so we agreed. That gave me some time to do a little research on the company in advance. I liked what I saw about the company. The salesman came a few days later. He walked us through the company background and expertise, their approach to roofing, explained what he would be reviewing (outside and in the attic), showed us pictures of the typical problem areas for reference, and the damage they could cause to a roof. He went into the attic and I came up the ladder to watch. I immediately saw several of the items he had pointed out. We had ventilation issues with too much moisture - cat-eyes (condensation around all of the roofing nails) and some wood rot. Outside had some curled shingles. Some wood would need replacement, but not a large amount. I liked that he did not apply any high pressure sales tactics. He emphasized what work should be done, regardless of whether we chose Power Home Remodeling or not. He walked us through their method to address our ventilation issues and how it worked. he showed us samples and the items to be installed. He gave us quotes on the roofing, soffits and fascia, and gutters, which allowed us to chose the options that best fit our needs. He showed us how the costs compared to other companies. I wanted a different color shingle and he made a couple of recommendations. Before the visit, I had gone online and checked out several websites - questions to ask a roofer before you buy. He answered all of our questions and was always willing to explain the background on any of the concepts - why it was important. We elected the roofing portion. They removed the old shingles, put on architecture shingles with drip edge, ice and water shield, breathable underlayment, and ridge vent at the top. The price was a little more than we planned to spend. But Power had a lifetime warranty on parts and labor. We would never have to buy another roof again. Plus, the materials warranty was transferable to a new owner. We felt that the additional cost now was worth the value. Also, while we were were discussing whether to make the purchase, I called a real estate friend about the cost versus value. She said getting it done right was always worth the value. We had a pre-inspection set-up a few days later. He inspected the outside and the attic. He showed us satellite images of the house and dimensions. I asked him many of the same questions as I asked the salesman, as I wanted to see if I would get the same answers. And I did. He set-up a install date. I received several calls before the install telling me the onsite foreman's name and confirming their arrival time. The foreman introduced himself, and asked if I had any questions. Again, very polite and respectful. They always took off their shoes when entering the house when they needed to discuss something. A small thing, but the little things matter. Install team laid down tarps all around the house to catch debris. They spent a lot of time making sure everything was picked up. They ran a magnet around the yard many times to catch nails. Did not find anything left behind. Got it done in a day. They did a great job. I also got a call from their quality control rep about setting up a follow-up meeting to make sure the install went well. At his visit, he asked questions about the install, and all of the reps - sales, pre-inspection, install team, etc.

They provided extremely helpful education about the products. They use very high quality material. The workers were professional and quick. They showed up at 7:15am and were gone by 1pm, just in time for my toddler to take his nap in peace. The roof looks great and we can already tell the ventilation in the attic is much better. There was a miscommunication about needing a permit, which they addressed. They were more than happy to pull a permit for us when we brought that up. When they showed up, a copy of the permit was not physically with them and our township requires permits to be posted. This caused me a little anxiety at first. However, they were able to get a copy and post it. A quality assurance inspector came after them to check the work and answer questions we had. The roof comes with a lifetime warranty.

The entire process, from sales to installation, was excellent. The sales and quality staff was very knowledgeable and informative. The product is far better than the builders grade windows we had. Lastly, the installation was very smooth and the crew was very professional. We will certainly use Power Home Remodeling for our future projects.

The estimator came on time and was very pleasant to speak with and knowledgeable. However, it took him four hours for this estimate as he went through Power's patented roof system. The quote i received from him was an absolute joke. He over estimated the square footage of my roof by more than 1000 sq feet. I received an accurate aerial measurement from another company. Based on this overestimate I received a quote of 50,447. This was nearly 25000 more than the highest second bid I received. No other roof bid was close to this monstrosity of a price. After being worn out from this high pressure sales tactic the price came down to 37000 if I signed that night. When I attempted to right the knew price down I was told, "Oh no I can't leave you with that price." Absolutely ridiculous. From what i read from other reviewers, It appears this company does good work, however, I would be cautious of its unethical tactics in sales.

We are pleased with our experience with Power. While their prices were higher than expected, we knew that we needed certain exterior parts of the home to be fixed and was impressed with the quality of their products. Be forewarned that the free estimate presentation took at least 2 hours so schedule accordingly. While it was a bit long, we did learn a lot, and that made an impression that they wanted us to be informed consumers, which we appreciated. The entire process was clearly communicated. There were a lot of calls! But I’d rather have that than no communication from the company prior and during installation. On the day of installation, the project manager (Don) called to let me know that the crew was on their way. They were professional and worked efficiently for 3 days to cap all our windows & doors, and adding new soffit, facia, and gutters around the whole house (an extra day was necessary due to weather). Throughout the process, the PM called periodically to see how things were going. When something came up the last day, I was able to call him directly and he took care of it. Someone from Quality Assurance (Mike) also called to make an appointment to make sure we were pleased with the ongoing work and to go over the warranty information with us. The only thing that caught us off guard was that we were not prepared for another sales pitch during that meeting for some of the other products that Power offers. That meeting also took 2+ hours. However, given the good experience the first time around, we agreed to schedule a second job for solar eclipse attic insulation. That process went smoothly as well. Overall, we appreciated Power’s efforts to communicate throughout the process, their quality of products and workmanship, and warranty. Be prepared for their sales pitches, but we were happy with the results and would use them again for our remodeling needs.

They did a fantastic job from start to finish. They were professional and the project managers were in communication with me from start to finish of each project. Can you possibly get a new roof at a lower price, I am sure you can but I would much rather have a great experience and the piece of mind that the job was done right!

The free estimate process for our windows and doors took way too long but we've been very please with everything beyond that. The product is innovative and top quality. The installation went smoothly and the installers and project manager were very nice. I noticed an issue after the crew had left so I called the project manager and sent him pictures then he came back later that day to take care of it. Very responsive and truly care about their customer experience.

Every interaction we had with Power from our initial interaction, to the sales demo in our house, to our inspection, to our actual installation day, and the final quality assurance session has been nothing but positive. Power is an energetic, community-focused, charitable company that made us feel at ease through every step of the process. Their attention to detail is fantastic, as well as their communication and follow up. Their focus on the customer experience is beyond reproach. The sales process was personable, straightforward, unaggressive, and not "very corporate." Pricing was very competitive and the qualityu of the windows is fantastic. We could not be more thrilled with our decision to work with Power for our windows both from a product quality standpoint, and a customer satisfaction standpoint and would recommend them to anyone looking for home construction.

We had been shopping around and when someone came to the door to schedule a free estimate, we decided to give it a try. I must admit, they called frequently and it became irritating. Then when we had the estimate scheduled, the salesman was late. I was extremely unhappy and let them know that. He was very apologetic and decided to give him a chance. They priced out a little higher than a competitor, but after seeing their product and lifetime warranty we ended up placing our order that day. Once the order was placed, everything worked out perfect. Our 18 windows were installed in one day and Orlando, the crew chief, was great to work with. Our project manager, Shane, was outstanding! He was in touch all day and physically came by and tried out every window. He was very thorough and meticulous. We could not be happier with the service on our install day and the end result was perfect!

They are a very efficient company! They have someone in charge of each small detail. They always called and wanted feedback. There was someone each time who came to check the quality of the work done and answer questions too. The windows were 30 years old and now I have no worries about mold/mildew! The gutters being wider and new have stopped the leaking at the seams! It has been with no complaints that I highly recommend this company for any remodeling work.

They came out and showed us all of the products. They provided us extensive information regarding all of the projects and products as well as respective contact information. They followed up to check on the progress of the work. We noticed an issue with one of the seams on one window and they responded promptly to schedule an appointment to repair the issue and install three additional windows. He provided insight and advice on other window projects to assist us with the sale of our home.

Response from Power Home Remodeling

"We're sorry to hear you felt your appointment ran long - we never want a customer walking away from their experience feeling the way you do. However, we take the education of our customers seriously and informing them as to all the ins and outs of their project can take time. At Power, we only do things the right way - which means our product quality, warranty service and installation processes are second to none. When making a decision about the renovation of your home, it's important to us (and important to our customers) to understand how we are different from other contractors and specifically what we do to separate ourselves from the competition. If we don't have the opportunity to explain these differences to the homeowner, our customers will be comparing numbers with zero context. This information is vital in making a decision on what can be a large investment and, on the whole, our customers appreciate our thoroughness."

We compared several window companies over an 18 month period. Power's Windows are very high quality even compared to much more costly Next Windows. They were first rate at every step from initial door-to-door contact; phone follow up; presentation; measurement; project set up & management; completion and after completion follow up quality inspection.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!!! A sales rep from Power Home Remodeling Group came out to our house on July 18th after someone knocked on our door recommending roof repairs. He started out with an almost $14,000 quote but after 6 hours at our house, at 11pm, he brought it down to $10,711.72. We agreed to do financing but said we would work with our own bank. We signed a release for what the Sales Rep called a "soft credit check," and said we would get back to them shortly about the financing. We then called them back and said we would go with them, and were told that we would just have to sign some credit card paperwork. We then went on vacation and came back on July 21st. Upon our arrival, we found papers for a Wells Cargo Credit Card application that needed our signatures. We haven't gotten a chance to send those back. On the 22nd, the company came back out. My husband rushed from work, and was 10 minutes late. The Project Manager greeted him with, "The appointment was for 3!" and said that they actually made a mistake, and instead of $10,711.72 that we signed and approved, it'll be $14,095.64. We told them that wasn't going to work because that's much higher than the quote. We were told that we were out of luck, and he left without much explanation or apology. At the same time today, we received new credit cards for Wells Fargo that we never actually approved! We called Power Home Remodeling Groups, and were laughed at by the representative, who said that they weren't real credit cards and were told that "sorry, sometimes there's a mistake in the price." The Sales Rep came back the next day apologizing for his mistake, and everything that happened. While we understand that mistakes happen, the attitude of the Project Manager who gave us the higher quote, a Customer Service rep who laughed at us, and the new credit cards open under our names with Wells Fargo that we never authorized. We are livid!
Response from Power Home Remodeling

"We’re sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your experience. We never want a customer walking away feeling the way you do, although we understand why you may be frustrated given the circumstances. The remodeling consultant you originally met with made a measurement error when sizing up the scope of your project – this error resulted in the inaccurate quote you originally received and our need to adjust the price once discovered. We regret this error and will be addressing it with the consultant so that this mistake is not made again in the future. Due to our relationship with Wells Fargo, we’re able to offer our customers a financing option with a discounted rate for their home improvement projects. When a customer chooses to finance their project with Wells Fargo through us, they also receive a credit card that is associated with the requested line of credit. The use of this card is completely optional and entirely up to our customers – you could throw out this card immediately and it would have no impact on the financing of your home improvement project. Unfortunately, there was an obvious miscommunication regarding these details when originally discussing our financing option and again when you called in to speak with our Customer Care department. We apologize for this miscommunication, as this is well below the standard of service that we hold ourselves to. We have already addressed your concerns with the Customer Care representative that you spoke to on the phone and will re-train how important it is to correctly communicate these details to our customers. Again, we sincerely apologize for the poor experience and have already taken action to address each of the items you raised in the review above. If you’d like to discuss this further, please feel free to reach out to me directly. Ray Lodato Director of Digital Communications Power Home Remodeling 610.874.5000 x2260"

Excellent. Once the deal was signed, everything went as smooth as can be. From the measuring, to planning, pre-inspection and finally the installation everything was well described, and performed. Installers were on time, courteous and clean. Having a supervisor come and show all the features of the windows, explaining the warranty and inspect the installation was a bonus. (The inspector found a problem and had it corrected right away).
