My family's used Olympic (now Olympia) for everything from carpet installation (probably more than 10 years ago now) to their fabulous remnant service on Pulaski (you can get them bound, creating area rugs at low cost). So I didn't even think about going anywhere else when I needed my three rugs cleaned.
Utter fiasco.
Called ahead and was told to bring them by and they'd be ready in 2 weeks. Onsite, I was told it would be a month. After I asked, they were like, "Ah, yeah, two weeks. No problem."
In the two week period, we moved and I couldn't readily find my invoice, but I had watched as they (apparently?) entered my last name, number, and order into the computer and also filed away the carbon copy of my invoice. So about three weeks after I dropped them off, I called to ask after my rugs on a Thursday (no one ever called to say they were done, etc.).
There was much complaining about not having my invoice, but they eventually found it in the system. I mean, maybe... (see below).
So I'm told on Thursday that my rugs needed 'a second cleaning' so they wouldn't be ready/dry til Saturday. By this point, I had read other reviews online where people had detailed their troubles receiving their rugs back, so I asked again, "They'll definitely be ready Saturday?" "Yes."
Not only were they not ready on Saturday, they could not be FOUND on Saturday. I was told that since I didn't have my invoice, it made them hard to find. I asked if they'd found me in the system, and they said yes, but that apparently wasn't a help. Neither were the numbers either, as I was also told that day that a bunch of the numbers had fallen off carpets in the back and THAT was the problem. Eventually, I'm brought into a room of uncleaned rugs (complete with a goodly number of moths fluttering around), and asked if any of these were mine. They were not.
Eventually I'm told that they've been found and that they'd needed "a second cleaning" and wouldn't be ready/dry til Monday. When they would deliver them. Would someone call me Monday morning to confirm delivery? "Yes."
So finally about 3p on Monday, I call. The guy again cannot find my rugs, but will call me back 'within the hour.' Never happens.
I call on Tuesday, talk to another guy who clearly cannot find the rugs. Told I will be called right back. Never happens. I call back later in the afternoon, talk to the original guy who is fairly short with me considering it's been nearly a week of attempting to merely locate my property.
Eventually my rugs are cleaned a third time (or, as I'm guessing, the first time) and delivered. One still has some cat fur on it, but, honestly, I was mostly just pleased to receive them back.
So could this have gone better? I do wish I'd been able to locate my invoice, but given that they were able to find their carbon copy of it, I'm not sure had any real impact on the info.
At least in my experience, it seems like they just hang onto stuff until people start calling, which... I mean whatever business model works for you, but didn't work for me. I wouldn't use them again, though the actual cleaning was fine-ish.
