He was very professional and provided all the information we needed to address our plumbing issues. He fixed our original garbage disposal however, upon suggestion we went ahead and has him replace it with a new one. He also fixed a noisy toilet fill tank issue that has been an ongoing problem.

FANTASTIC!  I  called in the morning and talked to Rocky who was very knowledgeable and able to accurately estimate the amount of time it would take to fix the leak.  He was able to send out Al within a few hours.  Al was very knowledgeable, professional, realistic and quick.  Al fixed it and re-ran the copper to a better configuration which will be good if we ever need a repair in the future.  He was accurate on his estimate and did a fantastic job.  I will certainly use Netzel again in the future!

Rocco - owner - promptly answered questions via angies list, providing information and estimate based upon info we provided.
scheduling was smooth - we called the office, left a message and they got back to us promptly, scheduling the appointment for the same day.
Al, plumber, showed up promptly (we had left specific time open as they had other jobs).  He quickly understood what needed to be done and set to work.  Al worked quietly, installed the faucet and the hot water unit.  He was neat and tidy.  When he finished, he explained how to operate the unit, the shut off valve, etc.
Overall, a good job!

They are on time, efficient, and provided an itemized estimate range. We chose a less expensive, but equally qualified firm.

The two-man team arrived and began running water from various sources in my bathroom, while the second guy stayed int he unti below.  They couldn't find the source of the problem, but guessed that the shower enclosure needed to be caulked. They didn't have any silicone caulk and said they would return, which they never did. However, during the winter, while the water was left flowing at a trickle through that tub's drain, it became apparent that that it was the source of the problem.
I also asked them to look into why my upstairs shower had stopped working. The guys took down manufacturer's info but no one ever got back to me.
When I later called the company in December, after all my water issues came to a head, he said his guys did everything they possibly could, even though they did not find the leak.

I called Netzel Plumbing at 10:30am and they had a plumber at my door at 10:45am.   They had to open up the wall in the basement to remove & replace the pipe leading to our outside faucet.   They replaced the pipe and included a stop & drain valve to help prevent future damage if the pipe should happen to freeze again.   The service technician was very kind & informative.  Yet, he was focused on getting the job done as quickly as possible.  We will definitely reach out to Netzel Plumbing for future needs.  Thanks for the quick response.

He has really upfront manner. He was really good. They are superb. I'd highly recommend them. I was impressed with them. I thoroughly trust them. Specifically what I like is the trust issue. I think they're very honest. They're not gonna go above and beyond. I trust them with their pricing and  how they resolve the issues. I just think they're wonderful.

BEWARE! DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY. We had a TERRIBLE experience. We called the day a frozen pipe burst on the 2nd floor  and they did arrive as they said they would.  We have an older home and have iron pipes  They came and repaired it quickly. The next day we had  friend who stopped by the house who knows more about plumbing than we did. He noticed the repair was not done properly. When you have iron pipes and then use a copper pipe along between the repairs, there is chemical reaction between the two metals that will cause the areas where they meet to corrode.  You are supposed to use a brass fitting between the other two metals to prevent that chemical breakdown.  We called Netzel plumbing and asked them about it and they said it was true. The plumber said he didn't have the right part at the time. They came over and did it the proper way.  The plumber said it would take a few years for the original repair to breakdown.  In my mind I'm thinking, really? You will "kinda" repair a pipe knowing full well it could corrode in  few years, where a resulting leak could cause 10 times more damage, possibly cause electrical issues and could cause injury to a person?  The frozen pipe caused $5000 worth of house damage. Would they cover that cost in a few years when their fix would eventually fail? I also found that what there did was not up to code, and it's a very basic plumbing code, like plumbing 101, it so a basic rule you have to use brass in between.  So they basically broke the law.  Would they reimburse me for that? On top of their lack of apparent care of people, they had our credit card on file and they had the audacity to charge us for the 2nd visit!  Beware of this company.  On the outside they may claim they have great  reviews and have been in business for many years but they prey on innocent people and intentionally will put your house at risk and the lives of the people in your family so they can make a quick buck and guarantee repeat business for themselves in a few tears. Netzel Plumbing may claim to gave been in business for many years, That is true only in name. The plumber told me the company is owned by different people now but only paid to keep the original company name. The original founding members of Netzel plumbing are long gone and have nothing to do with the current company.  I was so disappointed with my experience and their apparent lack of concern for doing  the job right way the first time, it makes me wonder how many other houses they have serviced that are now  leaking pipes again and the poor house owners had no clue the original repairs were not done right in the first place. I will also pursue a claim with the BBB.
Response from NETZEL PLUMBING
"The original call came in on 1-8-2014 at 1:30 in the afternoon we immediately sent two plumbers to the address as they were already in the area. [member name removed] was not present the day of the initial visit his brother [member name removed] was. Jacob (journeymen plumber) Made it clear to [member name removed] that he did not have the brass fittings for dielectric separation in stock on the truck but it an effort to restore water for there elderly mother would connect it without. Raymond agreed stating that the house would need to be re-piped soon as the bathroom fixtures and tile were in very poor condition. There were also multiple fixtures in the house with very poor water pressure. We offered to return to deal with the pressure issues and [member name removed] said he would be in touch. The second call came from [member name removed] on 1-15-14 who was very irate and expressed his dissatisfaction with our work. We immediately sent two plumbers there to correct the situation and install the brass fitting for proper dielectric separation. [member name removed] new nothing of the conversations that took place between Jacob and his brother Raymond during the initial visit. Please keep in mind that we are not in the business of taking advantage of customers or installing faulty systems. The only reason the pipe was connected was it was an emergency situation and we were trying to please a very sweet elderly woman. This call came during Chicago's notorious "polar Vortex" and our crews were running almost non stop. We did charge for the second trip but agreed to wave the service charge the mother [member name removed] was pleased with this. So pleased in fact that she and her son rewarded our plumbers with a variety of Pilipino pastries and drinks to take with them. As far as all the other allegations [member name removed] felt necessary to include in his review We don't feel were warranted. Netzel Plumbing's ownership is in the same family it has been for well over the past 20 years! We have a long tradition of providing top quality service and very fare prices and we pride ourselves in that."

This review comes at the end of two long visits, and by the end of the process I was extremely satisfied with the service we received. Netzel plumbing responded very quickly when I had problem with the first visit, completely fixed the issue, and was more than fair with adjustments to our bill.
Here is what happened. We had used Netzel plumbing in the past, and I called about fixing two problems, a slow running sewer and a stubborn clog in the pipe leading away from our bathroom sink. They sent one employee to do both jobs, and he began with the sewer. He worked on it for a solid two hours, and managed to get things running again, but let us know that we should have it scoped and have the catch basin cleaned out by other companies. He was unable to unclog the sink, and I was dismayed when I saw the bill which was very high for a sewer rodding (over $400).
I called to ask if they would waive the service charge to try the sink again, as the first technician was very tired and could not spend much time on it. They promptly responded and then sent another employee, who spent two hours trying to unclog the sink pipe, and then asked the owner or manager to come help. Together they figured out that the difficulty was due to an extremely unusual pipe configuration and completely fixed it, free of charge.
I would heartily recommend Netzel plumbing for regular service, but I will say that I don't feel like the technician sent to work on the sewer really knew what he was doing. We later had two sewer companies come and these visits revealed many problems that the Netzel employee did not mention at all, like the fact that the sewer line was still almost completely blocked (his rodding had done nothing to clean it out), and our catch basin was very badly damaged.

We had slow drainage from the second floor bathroom drains and more frequent stoppages of the toilet. Workman came same day I called.  Routed the drain lines and cleaned toilet nozzles.  He noted that the toilet was filling slowly, so we had him clean the fill piping and replace the fill valve.  He gave us instructions on how to prevent toilet fill nozzles from becoming clogged in the future.  Sink, tub and toilet are draining much faster.

This company is great. The service provider, (Al) arrived on time and was very courteous. Plus he gave me a lesson in drain pipes. I have acquired a 100 year old house and apppreciate any information. This is one company that I have in my phone for my "go to" person.
This job was not an easy fix so extra time and energy was needed to resolve the issue. Al did a fantastic job  cleaning up afterwards, even replacing my rug. Highly recommend this company especially for single elderly ladies, who don't know what we are doing. I trust them.

Water heater in bsmt of our bldg. had some pipes that were leaking.  After site visit & proposal was signed they had Jacob come out to turn off water, drain water heater and cut out pipes and make repairs.  Not an easy job due to the proximity of the pipes being right up against the brick wall.  When water was turned back on they were nice enough to fix some of the faucets that had built up residue from the process. They even came back the next day to repair another unit whose hoses leading to their stackable washer /dryer became clogged w/residue.  About a couple of days later I noticed that we still had a slow drip on one of the 1/8" pipes that they had worked on.  As it turns out they did work on that particular pipe but 6" below from where the leak was occurring.  I felt that I did mention that before worked commenced but they felt otherwise plus it wasn't mentioned in the proposal.  Rocky the owner did address my concerns, assessed the situation and came out 3 weeks later with a clamp that wasn't guaranteed to correct the leak.  At this point I didn't want to inconvenience  my neighbors again by having the water turned off,  water heater drained etc... He was nice enough to apply my Angie's List discount to this visit, didn't get discount first time around, claims it wasn't mentioned~whatever.  The clamp hasn't really fixed the problem but the leaking has slowed down.  I'm disappointed that it wasn't cared for properly during the original visit.  Perhaps it was miscommunication, who knows.  I got the impression that we were inconveniencing  them during this process.  They were nice enough, responsive but the entire experience left me feeling skeptical.  My neighbors who live a block away rec'd them so I went with their recommendation.  They're nice enough guys but when I needed some adl plumbing done in my unit I went with another plumbing company on Angie's List.  So there you have it...

They came in and helped clear a catch basin and the inlets/outlet to main sewer.  Needless to say not the most pleasant work :-)  But they were totally thorough and personable and helped explain the whole process/plumbing layout to me.  Will definitely use Netzel again.
