Kemora Landscapes

Within a matter of a few hours after purchasing the landscape and design consultation deal, we received a phone call to set up an appointment.  
Marisa came out and listened to our ideas and provided us with a landscape design that would fit out needs.  She asked us questions as to what we envisioned and what she thought would work for us.  We are DIY's so we told her that we would probably end up doing the work on our own and she did not try to sell us on anything other than the consult.  Very impressive.  We did ask for estimates for tree and lawn removal and her office was prompt in getting the information to us.  All in all we had an excellent experience with Kemora Landscaping Designs and would consider working with them in the future.  We used the landscape design from Kemora and due to budget constraints, did end up doing the work ourselves.  Turned out excellent.  Marisa's ideas were great and we get a lot of compliments on our design.

Showed up on time.  After two weeks I emailed asking for the design plan and project estimate.  Two days later I received drawn plans for the fron of the house.  There was supposed to be two privacy gate there was only one.  No design plan for the back of the house.  No privacy gate for the back of the house on the estimate.  Had to request design plan for the back yard.  Very unprofessional.

Very pleased with this hard-working and friendly crew.  They knew what they were doing.  Finished the job in one day, which was surprising given the amount of planting which was required. Did bring in additional workers for finish the job.
  Would definitely contact them again if we had similar needs.
The neighbors and those driving by (we live in a corner house) slow down to admire.  I have been told it is a welcoming and friendly look which we now have.  Definite curb appeal!

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. When they came out, they didn't know what they were supposed to do even though I had told them over the phone what I needed. I wanted them to dig up everything there because I had plants to plant there. They said they were not told what they would be doing. I told them that's what I wanted. There were 3 guys and I don't think 2 of them spoke English. I had to tell them everything to do and where to put them. It was no big deal. They were okay but not exceptional. I don't think they were here the whole 3 hours but there were 3 guys instead of 2 so I don't have anything to complain about. They did everything I asked. The person on the phone was very nice and I told them exactly what I wanted. It should be made plainer to the people coming to do the work. They were pleasant enough. I could only speak to one person but it was okay. It saved me time and trouble. The price was good. They were on time. I don't know if I would use them again.

The only thing I didn't like was it took some time for us to receive a quote but other than that the work was great. They were professional and provided good work and we may use them again in the future.

Spring clean up was delayed due to a number of factors by the vendor.  Also, once crew came, they damaged a number of our plants with the indiscriminate use of their leaf blower.  Also, they cut the grass way too short, even to the dirt level in some areas.  We were billed for weeks of service that were never provided.  We indicated our displeasure, and were given a refund on the work that they did not perform, and cancelled our service agreement with them.

Marisa asked what my price range was and made an initial sketch, but I guess due to her busy schedule, never followed up with a quote. I never heard back from her. I liked her ideas, and definitely would have considered working with her.

Overall it was a good experience.  Marisa was very nice and appeared very knowledgeable.  After hearing about our experiences in the garden she made suggestions for which plants/shrubs she thought would do best in our yard and provided us with a design sketch. The only reason I gave a low score for professionalism is that when we called the following Spring to discuss having the work done-- the company had no record of their visit or of our previous consultation.  

ain, demandRepresentative arrived promptly and spent about 1/2 hour discussing various options; she did a very rudimentary sketch and said she would follow thorough in a week or so. We heard nothing for months; when I finally called again, demanding at least the original sketch, they emailed an almost illegible copy of the original pencil drawing, with no plants named -- just circles and squiggles.
While I realize this was not a lot of money, I still received nothing in return.
Obviously, we never got to the work part, because this company so vigorously ignored us.

The landscaping plan helped us assess options for landscaping improvement, but the estimate was too pricey and we ended up using other resources to get it done.

Marisa Gora, the owner of Kemora, is very friendly and professional, and understood our needs and our aesthetic right away.  She had a vision that we never would have thought of, but it is just right for the space.  Her design was excellent, and she was very willing to incorporate all of the plants we were interested in having.  The estimate and drawing for the entire backyard (including hardscaping) was very complete and and although expensive, Marisa worked with us to break out a section of the larger plan that we could afford this year, with the idea of completing the full plan over several years.  The amount of landscaping Kemora did for the money was well worth it and doesn't feel like just a chunk that is incomplete.  This plan also accomodates the fact that we are gardeners and would like to add our own plants over time.  Marisa understood this -- her design provides a great structure that we love, but that we can also add to on our own as we like.
Colleen helped more with the logistics of planning the project, she is also really nice and professional.  Both Colleen and Marisa were there on the day of the project to talk with us and finalize plant placement, direct their workers, etc.  They easily made some last minute changes with no complaints so that we would be happy and the design would work as planned.  All of their employees we have encountered are friendly, hardworking, and knowledgable--they checked with us as they worked to be sure we approved of placement of trees, shrubs and other elements.  In addition, when a plant has died or not done well (only two last year), Kemora comes right out with a replacement free of charge.  They have a beautiful website that shows the full range of their landcaping design-build capabilities.
We are repeat customers at this point and will continue to work with Kemora as we develop the landscaping around our home.  We get lots of compliments from friends and neighbors, and always recommend Kemora to them.

I trully regret that I have finally concluded we will never receive the services we thought we had paid for from Kemora but we have now given up and selected another landscaper. Several months ago (perhaps March) a representative of Kemora came to the house and spent roughly 1/2 hour reviewing the yard for our newly built home in Chicago. The representative indicated she would get back to us with a rough landscaping design and suggestions.  They requested a plat of survey which we did not have to provide them and they indicated instead they would come out and do meansurements. We made at least two more calls leaving messages to set up an appointment for them to take whatever measurements they need or clarify the status of our requested plan and we have heard nothing from them which at this point is almost 2 weeks 
We fully intended on using Kemora to develop our yard;. however, after repeated and repeated phone calls and promises that a plan was coming, we have given up and started the process to select someone else.
The unfortunate result for this total lack of response is that I'm out $55 but Kemora is out potentially thousands for landscaping a yard from A to Z.

appointment.  I picked a day several weeks away; on that day, it was
raining REALLY hard.  I called the office and spoke to Colleen, telling
her that I didn't think they could do much with the grass so wet.  She
told me they were already on the way and would check the conditions when
they arrived.   That is what happened, and they rescheduled for another
day. When they came, they asked what was most important (having a limited amount of time) and they did a GREAT job!  Our yard was truly a mess, not having been raked much in the fall.  They cleared away tons of leaves and yard debris, trimmed a tree or two, and left the place looking wonderful --- they took all the debris with them.  Everyone I spoke to at this company was friendly -- an excellent experience!

         THEY CAME ON THE ALLOTED TIME. WORKED TO BEAT THE RAIN FINISHED IN 5 HOURS ! VERY PLEASANT PEOPLE.

She showed up on time we walked around the house and discussed options. I mentioned a few allergies and she adjusted the selection accordingly.

These guys were great.  The coupon was for 2 men/2 hours.  They worked for over 3 hours at no extra charge and even came back a second time with their truck to make sure they hauled away all the lawn debris after their truck was full the first time.  Very thorough job and would definitely use them again!

Colleen came to our home, took notes and provided us with a quote online.  She was very professional and represented Kemora well.  If things do not work out with the company we contracted with for lawn service, we may contact Kemora again.  They lost the contract because of pricing.

They looked at the yard and measured and sent me a proposal through email. The proposal looked great but I couldn't afford it. They were very courteous and they were on time.

We were very pleased with Marisa. She was on time, had wonderful ideas, and was incredibly intuitive as to our needs. We are 1st time homeowners and are really very clueless when it comes to anything flora related. We had a really hard time describing what we wanted, but Marisa was somehow able to capture exactly what we had in mind. She didn't seem fazed that we couldn't afford to use her services at this time, and even gave us some handy DIY tips! We have already begun using some of her suggestions and it's really coming together nicely~ Highly recommended!

Three men arrived (early!), went right to work and advised me as to how to best achieve my objective--differently than I would have done it. They dumped the dirt on a tarp so that it wouldn't mess up my grass and even replanted a rhubarb plant that was established in one of the beds. They were polite, professional, worked quickly and efficiently on a nasty spring day (sleet and snow) and cleaned up my yard every effectively when they were done.
I was very impressed by this company and will now be using their regular landscaping services. Thanks!

The landscapers dug out some bushes that we would have had a lot of trouble with ourselves. It was definitely worth the money. The only reason to give the B for professionalism is that the person taking appointments wrote down the wrong day, and they came on a different day. As it turned out, I was available both days.
