J L CONTRACTOR SERVICES

I have used this contractor for four jobs and each was performed flawlessly. The last was for a new roof on our three story brownstone in the WrigleyVille area. Even though his price was slightly higher than other estimates, I still chose to use Jack because of the three other fine jobs he did for me. The roof job proved no exception. Outstanding!!!! On time, extremely professional and great communication. During the process we had quite a bit of rain and there was some water damage but Jack handled this minor glitch in an extremely professional manor. I give his firm the highest rating and will use him again should the situation arise.

We are extremely pleased with the work. The crew came in the morning and stayed till all the roofing work was done that evening. The next crew came several days later (at our request) and did the gutters. They were all pleasant to deal with, efficient, and did a great job of cleaning up. Our roof and gutters look great and our vents are working better than ever.

The job was above board. It was wonderful. The work was wonderful and detailed. They did an awesome job. His crew was great. I would highly recommend them.

The job took approximately a week to complete, it probably would have been shorter but two of the days it kept raining on and off and the crew had to stop and start. The grinding took the longest to do, the mortar goes pretty quickly. It is a very dusty and messy job but the crew swept and vacuumed outside each day. They do need to plug in their grinders so it is a good idea to have someone home. The first few days we were blowing fuses. Jack and his crew are very knowledgeable and happy to explain any questions asked and made sure we were happy with the work done.

Very good. I would use JL Contractors again. Punctual, professional, defines and solves the problem.

Jose Luna refused to fix their mistakes. Jack from J L CONTRACTOR SERVICES was reasonable and on time. I would use him again. He fixed everything that needed to be fixed and said it should be good for a while. He provided his card and I would definitely use him again when I do have to do a roof in the future. So far, everyone I have gotten from Angle’s List has been terrific.

They were courteous. I remember them because they came and provided an estimate very quickly. They were very responsive. I would consider them for another quote in the future.

One bock on the window cracked last winter and he came out and replaced it. His concrete work was good, and it looked great but the concrete is already flaking at the edges. It’s a little disappointing; it seems like the quality of concrete wasn’t the best. He did come back last year to fill in a spot I had a problem with. I haven’t contact this year yet to do any fixes. He was responsive and price was fair. I probably wouldn't use him again for concrete work though.

Overall, Jack was punctual, professional, and did a great job.

the weather delayed us for several weeks...a wet summer, but i was grateful that Jack was being very careful to have at least 3 full days without a chance of rain. once they started they worked really quickly and hard for about 2 weeks. i am very pleased and will call them again for my siding, etc.

They were quick. It was easy to communicate and it was easy to reach them. They were very professional and organized. They clearly knew what they were doing. The guys who worked for the contractor worked as a team and they were very approachable. If there was something that I was concerned about, then they were quick to respond, explain and do it in a different way.

Workers were on time. Addressed any issues I had. Finished in a timely manner. Chimney looks great. Work is guaranteed for 3 years.

We did not actually have the work done by JL contractors. Jack(?) came by as promised and came up with an estimate but wrote it on the back of a business card in illegible handwriting. I had to call back and ask him to provide a professional written estimate. Once I requested it, he was very prompt in returning a professional estimate via email and his price was very fair according to the other bids we received. We did not wind up using JL but we would consider in the future. I think he should provide professional estimates the first time around to put a better foot forward. I felt he didn't take our business seriously initially which is the only complaint I had.

Jack was professional and polite. Although we went with a different company, he came out to the house when he said he would and took the time to give us a detailed roofing quote. He gave us a competitive price that fit in the same price range as our other two roofing finalists. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Jack to others or ask him to do work for us in the future.

Jack was great. He came out within a few days of contacting him. He reviewed what was needed, made some recommendations and then gave us a proposal. He always returned phone calls promptly and was always pleasant and polite. The two gentlemen who did the work were efficient and tidied up after themselves. The work looks good.

I have used Jack before and he is responsive to calls. He came out quickly to make an assesment of what was causing peeling paint in third floor bathroom. I was not sure if was a roofing issue. He took measurements to see where leak was coming from. This is a 120 yr old frame with a highg third floor.He sent his 2 person staff who came with appropriate ladders.First they put back the siding and then did the chimmney.I think he and his staff are no nonsense hard workers.

Owner Jack came over to give us an estimate the same day I called! He was incredibly polite, prompt and really knew his stuff. He addressed all of our questions and concerns and even brought up things that we would have never thought to ask, but were important to know. We decided to use J L even though his quote was $20 more than the others, which is still in the competitive range. Jack just had more confidence and seemed to really care about doing a good job more than the others we received quotes from. The workers did an incredible job when it was time to get the work done, too. You can't even see where they repair it was done so beautifully and seamlessly. It looks brand new and the new (salvaged) bricks look exactly like the original ones that were there. Very nice job. Very professional. They also completely cleaned up and hauled everything away. One of the best experiences we have ever had with a contractor. Highly recommended.

Jack came out to estimate the job on the same day we called. He was very thorough in examing what needed to be done - he went up on the roof, took pictures of the chimneys, and explained what would be done. The estimate he submitted was also very thorough. We approved it on Monday and they started the job on Wednesday. His workmen also explained what they were doing and cleaned up very well before they left. We were pleased with their work. We obtained 3 estimates for this job using companies on Angie's list. We chose JL Contractors becuase of Jack's thoroughness in reviewing the job and his explanation of the work to be done. Their price was competitive. Jack and his workmen were pleasant to deal with.

Our experience with Jack and JL was excellent. Everyone knew it was going to be a difficult and filthy job, tearing off the many layers of roofing along with 115 years of dirt and debris from my very steep roof with my neighbors only 3 feet away on either side. JL spent a good deal of time protecting my house as well as the neighbors with plywood and tarps. The crew took extra care not to damage our new bathroom ceiling, less than 4 inches from where they were doing the demo. The crew showed up early every day and worked long hours to get the job done as quicly as possible. Jack was always easy to reach and returned any call very quickly. When rotten areas were discovered in our dormer, Jack did not try to gouge us and took care of the issue without additional charge. After the new roof was finished, the crew did a great job of cleaning up the site. The new roof looks great. It was a huge relief to have this difficult job done well without major incident. Jack even called the day after the job was done to make sure the dumpster was picked up. I highly recommend JL and would use them again without hesitation.

See above. I contacted JL Contractor Services for issues(missing vent cap, drain spout, missing masonry). They were able to help me with all of these projects. The fees seemed reasonable and the service was very prompt. I would use them again.
