We've had issues with service from the very beginning and it has never really improved. In the first year, whenever I'd report an issue, their standard response was "everything looks fine on our end...it must be your router, laptop, ethernet cable, etc...". It would not be until there were multiple people in the building all having the same problem that HiPoint would finally agree that something was wrong. In the past year, they've gotten more responsive and have tried replacing some of the equipment in the building. But this has not helped. We experience a service outage or degradation in service 2-3 times a week. Whenever I call them, I get their standard message "We're aware of the issue and are working to restore service." I'm working with my condo board to look for alternative services. DON'T GO WITH HIPOINT!!!!!
Description of Work: HiPoint provides internet service to my condo building, which has 72 units. Their services are covered as part of our association fees. We've had HiPoint for 2-3 years now.

My building switched over to Hipoint this week. I paid an upgrade for a 20mb/10mb package. When I run a speed test, the highest I am getting is 15mb/8mb. Obviously, I am not getting close to what I am paying for... if you are going to advertise for something, perhaps you should be able to actually provide what you promise... what a concept! In addition, I have run it a couple of other times where my speeds have been as low as 9.8mb when paying for 20mb...there is no excuse for that, period. Really , less than half of what I am paying for? wow. Yes, the tech made me an $8 ethernet cable that I did not have because no one in their customer support told me I would need. And I QUOTE the tech that was here "Our customer service people do not always ask the right questions" That is an understatement in my opinion. I would happily pay for the ethernet cable , all $8 (See http://Amazon.com for pricing) if I could have even 80% of the speed I am paying for using THEIR wireless router...which I paid THEM $99 FOR! After dealing with their really really poor customer service, I am told to call and speak with Gavin. I do. I am on the phone with him for all of 60 seconds when his smartass comments start coming. I ask if I can finish explaining what my problem is.. He states.. "No". What the h***... I have been in customer service a long assed time and never had anyone tell me, No, you cannot explain your problem. THIS is what you get when you get a small time DSL provider.. crap a** service. At this point, I will do everything I can everywhere to spread the word on what my experience has been. FYI, I paid $99 for their router, plus $25 a month for their service (added to our Association fees) plus $25 for upgraded service a month
