My husband and I purchased my engagement stone from Yossi, the owner. He was referred by an acquaintance. We bought a beautiful diamond and what we considered to be a very fair price. More importantly, he made the process very easy and comfortable. Retail stores tend to focus on the 4C's so much to the point that you are looking at the tag more than the stone. Yossi taught us what to look for and to find the stone that "spoke" to us first, and then take a look at the ratings. We picked out a beautiful stone and then gave Yossi a photo of the setting I wanted. They are not in the business of making settings, but they can help you to design one and then use their network within the building to get it done- or you can just buy the stone and have it set elsewhere. Gottlieb is not a retail store, they are a true wholesaler so you'll have to make an appointment and go to the office. The office is old and dumpy, not the type of place you'd expect to find beautiful diamonds, but trust me, they are there. We get so many compliments on my ring that we recently went back to buy a pendant for our 2 year anniversary.
