The price was competitive with all of the other companies in the area. The overall project was spread out through a relatively short amount of time, depending on the availability of the electrician, materials, etc. I was impressed with their work and I have continued to call them back for maintenance over the past five years.
Description of Work: When I moved into the home Four Seasons installed a new furnace and upgraded the electrical system for full house air conditioning.

I do not have a contract with them, but they notify me when I am in need of a check up or servicing. When I moved into the home Four Seasons installed a new furnace and upgraded the electrical system for full house air conditioning. I was so pleased with their service that I continued to call them back for maintenance. I have been impressed with their services. Their price is competitive with everyone else.
Description of Work: Four Seasons Heating & Air Conditioning does my heating and cooling. I have been using them for the past five years. The last time that they came out they serviced the furnace and replaced the filter.

What started as a $79 coupon seasonal tune up turned into a $1300 repair... In addition to the seasonal tuneup, my Crown boiler had a constant leak from the overflow pipe that I wanted fixed. The first tech performed the seasonal tuneup (I suppose), and to address the leak replaced the expansion tank and relief valve. This did not fix the leak. Background information: The nature of hot water radiator systems is such that the entire system needs to be drained to do this type of work, then refilled, and each radiator bled, thus, there is a significant time lag before the system cam be tested. So it takes a while... Rather than have the tech spend his time on this simple refilling/ bleeding task (and to save myself the $325 per floor charge!) I dismissed him and refilled and bled the system myself. Only after the two hour refilling and bleeding process could I discover that his repair did not fix the leak. A second tech was dispatched who judged the work of the first tech incomplete, and recommended an additional valve replacement (the supply valve.) Also, I was told that he had to RE-replace the new relief valve installed by tech 1 because once it "pops" it needs to be replaced. This seemed illogical but I approved the work after successfully haggling with the office for a discount. I again went through the process of draining, refilling, and bleeding the system. This time, the leak was fixed. So, I was definitely underwhelmed, but they did fix the leak. I was kind of put off by one tech trashing the work of the other- not for his candor, but for the company disorganization it reveals and for the lack of operational protocols for what should be a routine repair for an HVAC professional. To sum up my experience: Points for fixing the leak. Or rather, no points off for NOT fixing the leak. Obviously I didn't expect this repair to be covered under seasonal maintenance, but an exceptional company would have gotten it right the first time and not turned it into a three day, two technician project. Both techs arrived on the days scheduled; not within the given time frame but close enough for me. Can't judge the price as I didn't take multiple bids. Seems high for 2 valves and a tank. I mean, they're all standard threaded, and the relief valve and expansion tank are both at the end of a line...
Description of Work: Hot water boiler system repair: replaced expansion tank, relief valve, and supply valve.

The thermostat still is not on key and does not work exactly top of the end. It is a very highly upgraded thermostat and they didn't even know how to work it. The guy who supposedly did know about it had no idea how to explain it to a customer. Everything else was fine. The guys were nice. They did make one mistake. They didn't check the code for Buffalo Grove, but it was something small. Everything else was of good quality and works fine. They were punctual. We would probably use them again.

A great and efficient repair call. I was able to get an appointment on the same day I called. There was a $79 charge for just having someone come out to evaluate our concerns. The repair was $100. The repair man called 30 minutes before he arrived, and arrived right at the beginning of my 1-6 appointment window. (Helpful, since at first I didn't like such a huge window of time to possibly be sitting around and waiting.) The Four Seasons rep figured out the cause of our leaking problem and was sensitive to the Association's need to simply stop the problem. He offered different options for future repair and was able to give approximate cost guesstimates. He was willing to explain what he was doing and why. He was quick in the repairs to both the leak and investigating the gas fireplace. When he saw the same style of humidifier in our home (vs the vacant unit) he helpfully turned it off so we wouldn't have the same leak. I was appreciative of this thoughtful, preventative thinking. He was candid about some problems with the heating being due to the manner of its installation, and how to address the problems economically.
Description of Work: Four Seasons addressed a leak that appeared to be coming from the furnace/AC closet in a vacant unit in our condo building- which turned out to be water overflowing into the humidifier due to a bad water valve. They checked a gas fireplace to ensure that there wasn't a gas leak.

Despite the unexpected cost I have to say once the blower and capacitor were replaced the unit ran much better. There was less strain and less noise when it heat kicked on ,in addition the fan blows much stronger. As it was something I would have had to replace eventually(and with my luck probably in the dead of winter) I'm glad he noticed the problem and was able to correct it that day. I have used this company for years and have always been satisfied. For a large company their personnel seem to be at least capable, some of them (as in this case) are even more then that.
Description of Work: The Technician(Brian?) arrived on schedule and started right to work. After a check on the unit he told me I had a bad capacitor and it should be changed along with the blower. He showed me where the oil was leaking out of the blower motor and explained it was a sealed unit and I would need to replace the blower. When he called to find out how much it would be his supervisor told him to charge me only for the blower. I agreed to the price and he ordered the part, it was delivered in three hours and the tech returned in the afternoon and replaced both parts. He also cleaned the unit.

The entire experience was excellent. The estimate was very reasonable compared to the other bids that I received. The crew showed up on time and was very professional. They took the time to tell me everything they were doing and did the work with a high level of neatness and craftmanship. The crew even put little booties over there shoes so as to not stain the flooring or track dirt into the house. They cleaned up well, and used drop cloths around all of the areas where they were working. The installers worked in a steady fashion and did not waste any time. They were very polite. The entire experience was positive and would definitely use this company in the future.

They basically dumped the equipment and left. The air conditioning unit was placed near our neighbor's window. Their excuse was that they put the replacement unit where our original unit is located. Of course, the original unit is very small, and it presented no problem to the neighbors. The replacement unit is quite large and it blocks the neighbors' window. Eventually, we'll have to have it moved, and it's going to cost us a couple hundred dollars.

Received a quote which was slightly higher than the local vendor I finally selected. I received a follow-up phone message saying that they would not loose the job based on price. While the quote was fair, I would have preferred to receive their "best offer" the first time around. Salesman, Dave, was professional and knowledgeable.

This was the first time we had used Four Seasons, and I was very pleased with them. When I originally scheduled the appointment I only asked for a routine furnace check, but then I remembered we wanted a programmable thermostat installed and so I called back the same day and the receptionist said she would add it to my service request. It didn't seem to be on the information the repairman had, but it was not a problem. He had the thermostat with him and installed it for us.

I scheduled a much needed furnace cleaning before the winter months were upon me. The technician was very friendly and gladly climbed up to my lofted area to service my furnace. He noticed that two key pieces (a pressure valve and the started component) were worn out and needed to be replaced. Not only did I get a great deal on the cleaning, but he called his supervisor and offered to take $150 off the repair if we did it right away. He returned in a few hours with the parts and new filters and completed the job. Great work - will always use!

They put a new furnace instead of an old one. They worked very hard, as it was a complicated procedure. They did exactly what they said they were going to do and the work done was fine. I never compared their prices with any other company. We needed a furnace since it was getting cold and everything had drowned at that time. They were recommended to me by somebody else.

I had a good idea what the problem was, because I had a similar issue with my three year old A/C compressor last summer. There is a leak somewhere in the system and it either had to be repaired or refilled with R-22 refrigerant. I called Four Seasons and an appointment was setup for within hours of when I called. So far, so good. The technician came, was pleasant, and for the most part on time. He checked the pressure level in the compressor and, indeed, it was low on R-22 (Freon). We discussed the process by which they could check the piping and overall A/C system for leaks (which would have cost $800, somewhat inexplicably, but I don't know how involved this process is) but the technician advised against this given the cost and the necessity to cut into walls if they found something in the piping. So he recommended filling the compressor with R-22 and seeing how long it lasts into next season. He told me R-22 was $85 per pound-which seemed really high to me but I'm not an HVAC specialist-what do I know? I did, however, know a little, because I had North Star (another company) come out the previous year and they did the same recharge for $25 per pound. The technician said the price has gone up a lot in the last year.. hmm, really? Seems like all other commodities have gone way down since Summer '08 - but Four Seasons is a reputable company (they advertise at Bears games, after all, they can't be ripping me off so blatantly for a commodity gas chemical?) - but yes, they were. After confirming with another A/C service company that the other company (North Star) charges $25 per pound, I just felt hosed. And I was. Further research indicates that industrial gas suppliers charge $200 for a 30 pound tank of R-22 or $7 per pound versus $85 that I was charged. So Four Seasons H&C is charging a 1200% markup on a commodity gas product - it'd be one thing if they didn't charge such a premium for their labor and appearance fees, I'd be more sympathetic to them making it up in the gas supply.. but in addition to the $79 service charge their assessed a $72 "calibration" charge to load the gas. This is preposterous-what, they aren't making enough of a margin on the Freon?? I'm a businessman (not in the HVAC business so no axe to grind here!), I understand the way the world works - but this is just crooked. Charge me for your labor, for your technicians time, for your office overhead, maybe a premium for good service, but don't charge a 1200% markup on a commodity gas because the consumer isn't educated in the latest market pricing of R-22. That'd be like the corner Shell station charging you $12 per gallon the 93 octane he buys for $2.50. Or Peoples Gas charging you $30 a therm for natural gas when they are paying $3. It's a commodity!! Just wrong. You can't take advantage of consumers who don't have the ability to price shop in the opaque world of HVAC services. Especially after the technician is at your house and they are into you for $79 appearance charge that you'll have to pay someone else if they come out. You can surely bet I will in the future, and hopefully everyone else will too after reading this article because charging $85 per pound for R-22 is just plain highway robbery, and Four Seasons does it with impunity. Do not use this Company because if they can fleece you on R-22 just think about the pain they can inflict on higher ticket items. I called the customer service department to complain and they had no idea the price gouging that was going on: "that's just what the owner wants to charge" was what I was told. "How can you justify it?" I ask.. "I cannot". That's right, because it's not justifiable. I considered stopping payment on my check because I was so infuriated. But I won't, after all, I was told the price beforehand (like it meant anything to me, at least at the time) and I tacitly agreed to it, so this was a legal rip-off, but a rip-off nonetheless. Price gouging is against the law, and I'm not sure what this is if not gouging. I did ensure the customer service rep that I would be telling anyone who would listen about this situation to bring this way off-market pricing to the light of day. Maybe they think because I live in Lincoln Park I won't notice or care and they can ring the register, but this will be well known.

I could not be happier with the choice I made to use Four seasons. Bart came out on Thursday to diagnose the problems. Though I was already anticipating having to replace the units he gave me several options. It was a second opinion which I am glad I got because although the diagnosis was the same I was given more choices and ultimately paid alot less for the solution after being jerked around by another company! Edwaurdo and his partner showed up the next morning and worked a long tweleve hour day until the work was completed. He went through the completed job with me answering all my questions. When they left I had air conditioning and a wonderful new furnace! This was a completely smooth transition from old to new and I paid exactly what was quoted to me. Thank you so much for great experience!!!!

After placement of a new furnace from this company, the central air conditioner started making a loud "booming" sound when the compressor turned on and off. Mr. Terry Leland discovered the problem. The air ducts around the furnace were flexing, causing the noise. He applied customized external bracing to the ducts around the furnace unit and checked the blower speed on the new unit I had just purchased in February, 2009. Mr. Leland found the blower speed to be incorrect. He then adjusted the speed to the proper setting by switching wires around inside the furnace. My air conditioner now cools my house like it never did before, just because of his blower adjustments. He took the time to tell me everything he was doing and why he was doing it. He explained everything. He was very professional and thorough and I am very happy with his service. Yaaaaa!
