Workmen showed up on time and worked late the first evening. They didn't know we had already been told this would be a 2 day job. They were trying to get it done in one day. They returned the next day and finished. Explained everything, where the new filter was located, how to use new thermostat. They cleaned up and removed all the trash. We never did sign an actual contract and no partial payment was made before the job. We could only pay with a credit card/debit card or a bank check upon completion of the job. Which we did and found no problems in doing this.
Description of Work: This was the 3rd company we called for an estimate. We were thinking of putting in a 95% efficient furnace and air conditioner replacing an old furnace that was put in when an addition was built. We already had 2 other estimates and we were told that new venting was needed. The first HVAC said they would put a vent above the furnace closet door, second HVAC said they would put a vent from the furnace closet running through the utility room to the bedroom. All the duct work would be visible on the ceiling of the utility room. Four Seasons said they would run new cold air ducts through the attic space and have on duct in the bedroom and one in the family room. The salesman also thought having a high efficient furnace was a waste since this was a small area and we wouldn't really see a return in our heating costs. He really felt an 80% efficient furnace would meet our needs and would also be cheaper to run since the one we were replacing was oversized for the area.

It was pure laziness on my part that I called Four Seasons for this. After their performance on the repair they'd done previously I hadn't planned to use them again. And boy do I regret it now. The two items feed into each other. First of all, when the tech came out, he was polite and nice but I don't consider it professional to tell me in response to an obvious noise problem that it "sounds normal" and to "ask the heating guy when he comes in the fall." Especially when a proper seasonal maintenance hasn't even been done. I ended up calling the manufacturer to get a recommendation, and that company came out, recognized the noise problem immediately, took apart the air handler (something the Four Seasons guy didn't do) to clean the motor as part of the service, and determined that the previous people hadn't been cleaning it (it was pretty obvious that this new guy wasn't exaggerating). He also pointed out where the heat and wear damage caused by the motor not being properly cleaned caused the blower fan to wobble and become damaged on the side of the unit. That was the direct cause of the excessive noise, and he'd diagnosed it in about 10 minutes of work, even while training in a new guy, in contrast to the Four Seasons guy who took about 30 minutes do do ... well, to do nothing, as it turned out. When the not-Four-Seasons guy put in the replacement parts, it was dramatically quieter, so I'm confident that Four Seasons really did fail to diagnose, fail to actually perform maintenance, and fail to earn the money I'd paid them. And they lost a sale and, this time for sure, a customer. I'll never call them again.
Description of Work: Schedule an appointment for two things: 1) Regular seasonal maintenance 2) Inspect the system to determine why it had become louder

Rep. called to annouce he was coming. Showed up in window arranged. Polite. Used Shoe covers. Right to work. explianed steps along the way. It was a dead capacitor. I showed him last summers service call paper work. That same part was replaced last July and there is a 1yr. manuf. warranty. He called in the situation to supervisor and quickly said yes, no charge for the new one and replaced it. Once A/C was running he tested temp coming out of vent. he explained is should be around 48 but I was reading 58. Here comes the additional costs.... He told me the choices. Top off the freon and get more efficient cooling and should check levels next year to be sure there is no leak, or do an elaborate leak test for $700 plus. We topped off the freon and will check levels next year. Once he performed the freon work the vent temp did lower significantly, his recommendation was valid and it will keep our costs down overall not have the unit run as long to cool house. Good service. explained well. pleased.

Everything went ok with the installation. One of the employees worked outside installing the units and one employee was doing the duct work. The guy outside was talking on the phone part of the day. Due to the fact he was talking on the phone the project took 12 hours, which was more than they originally quoted. I was happy with the quality of work. They even cleaned up after themselves very nicely. After the installation we were told that we would able to file a tax credit for the efficiency of our units. When we went to file our taxes we found out we couldn't use it. I was very upset about that. I would still use the company again I just feel like I had a bad crew.

Our Air Conditioner stopped working on a really really hot day. We had used Four Season's this past winter to replace our furnace and was very pleased, so we definitely called them. We called and were told that we would not be able to get a time frame of when he would be coming, but that it would be today. We were fine with that as we needed it repaired and were happy to just get same day service. We called at around 4 pm and he showed up close to 9 pm. So not too bad. Dan came by and was very pleasant and professional. We appreciated him using booties while in the house and he repaired it quickly. We could tell he was beat as it was late and he had a busy hot day. But he never showed it in his attitude. We were 100% satisfied.

The repairman, Don, after explaining our options worked with us to arrange financing. After all financial arrangements were made, Don indicated that the air conditioner could be installed that evening with the installers arriving around 7:00pm. The installers, Jason and Kane, arrived as promised. They inspected what needed to be done, where the air conditioner unit needed to be placed and how they would proceed with the job. They explained how they would proceed with the job. They were courteous, professional, informed us what they would need access to (fuse box and laundry room) and back door. As they did each part of the work they let me know what they were doing. When I asked a question they provided answers that corrected false information. When they ran into an electrical problem they were able to diagnosis the problem, fix it, and the air conditioner ran beautifully. They worked late and were cheerful all the while. At the end of the job, they completely cleaned up. We are prepared for a nice cool summer! We had used this company in the past for other repairs so we completely trusted them for this job. I would use them again for any heating and cooling jobs in the future.
Description of Work: The evaporator coil on the air conditioner was leaking last year. Before using the unit we wanted it checked again this year before using the air conditioner. It was, in fact, rusted which showed water had been leaking and needed replacing.. This required either a new evaporator coil or a new air conditioner.

We have used Four seasons for years and will never call them again. The prices are crazy! They are way too big for their own good at this point. They charged us $350 to diagnose a problem they never fully corrected. They cleaned the coils outside and changed the filter basic maintenance stuff. They tried to say I needed to spend $900 to find and fix a freon leak. To top it off even though they did do some work, they left us with the same problem that we had called then for originally. which was water coming out of the air unit in the basement. The key word seemed to be "up sell". I literally felt ripped off. We called someone else (report to come next) and got the problem corrected for $45.00. Unless you want to throw money away call someone else.
Description of Work: We called because we had water on the floor in the basement. They did everything they could sell us besides fix the problem. They cleaned the coils out back, changed the filter and said they added 1# of Freon but I doubt it.

They gave us a longterm warranty if we had the unit serviced annually by someone properly licensed. When I checked the weather report, I scheduled the appointment for nice weather. They called to cancel stating that the weather was not going to cooperate (even though it was nice). When they did reschedule with me, they ended up cancelling because they had overbooked themselves. I'm currently frustrated with trying to get the regular maintenance done on my A/C, and two half days of work were affected by this. While we were overall pleased w/ the installation, the followup had been difficult. While I had these challenges trying to get my ac services, the third time around they really followed through. They made sure they serviced the unit the day they scheduled. They apologized for the earlier inconviences. The service technicians were very professional. I think we are back on track with using 4 Seasons in the future.

Their price was competitive. They worked with me to arrange things and to make sure I understand what I was getting. It went well overall. The only problem I had with them is that, a couple of technicians were here fairly late at night. That?s why the installation took longer and they anticipated and because of that we had couple of minor glitches in getting everything operated. I would use them in the future.

I don't have any complaints about them. It wasn't an emergency, but eventually it could have become a problem. I have had coupons from them before. They are very responsive when you make appointments with them to come out. It was expensive. It was not a cheap deal. It was through Angie's List that I had gotten the coupon for them to inspect the heater. I think they are pretty thorough. The igniter on my heater showed that it was low, but they didn't have to actually replace it. They didn't push me to replace it. A few months later I went ahead and replaced it. Because he had come out previously and told me what was wrong, they didn't charge me for the visit to come out. They just charged me for the replacement part. That was about $200.00.
Description of Work: 4 Seasons Heating & Air Conditioning came out to see what was wrong with the heating unit and they replaced a part. It might have been something with the motor.

Terrible customer service. We called them when our heat went out during the big blizzard/snow storm in February of this year. Needless to say, it was a bad situation. So, with all of their ads on TV, I called Four Seasons. I was promptly told that if I was not one of their established customers with a service agreement, I was not getting any same day service. In shock, I asked her if I had heard that right and the girl confirmed it. I asked if it was because they were busy. She didn't say "no we're too busy" and didn't say, "We can get to you in a few hours," she just in basic terms told me to forget it unless I was on one of their service contracts.. So, I did. I called a local company that first told me over the phone to unblock the vents from the side of the house (and they were right with this simple advice that took them 30 seconds to diagnose and explain to me how to handle.) While that got the furnace running, another part had blown out while the furnace struggled with that, so I called the local place back and they were out within an hour. I truly do not understand why a business such as Four Seasons spends so much money on advertising just to treat people with such disdain when they call. This is probably what happens when a company gets so big, it forgets that customer service is what makes a company successful. But, I have to say, thanks to them, I have found a very responsive and reputable local company. MY RESPONSE TO THEIR RESPONSE: You couldn't come because it was "mandated by law enforcement"??? Really? It didn't stop other providers from servicing clients, including the company that made it to my house apparently evading law enforcement all along the way. You would be happy to email me a copy of the phone conversation? That is borderline creepy. Yes, you did call me and left a message recently after I posted this, but, like you told me the day my heat was out, I really don't want to help you out right now.

We are sorry for your experience in trying to get service. We tried to service our customers but could not due to road closures as a result of 2 feet of snow falling in less than 24 hours. This was the first time in our history that we were prevented from being able to respond, but it was completely outside of our control as mandated by law enforcement. Safety of our customers and employees is of great concern to us. We would be happy to e-mail you the phone recording when you called where our customer service associate politely explained this to you. We have tried to reach you via the phone but have not been successful. We would still like to earn your business. Please call Rick @ 773-284-6161 X 5356. Thank you

The first time we used this service was during a heatwave when our AC went out. After calling a number of service provided that suggested, some not quite politely, that we crawl under rocks and wait for autumn, Four Seasons said "we're busy, but we'll find someone who can help you." We had somebody at our door later that same day. Now, Four Seasons is big and perhaps is better equipped to handle a crush like that, but I appreciated their effort and approach. We had them install a new furnace last year and a new water heater this year. The work on both was very good, particularly on the furnace. They unexpectedly had to rebuild the entire AC casing, working late into the evening without complaint. It was a tough job. The products have operated excellently and the crews cleaned up after themselves and answered all my questions, even trying to explain to me the mystery of that humidifier dial and how to properly set it. (Sadly, I promptly forgot.) For each job, I obtained several estimates. The estimates ran a bit higher than some competitors, but I'm willing to pay a bit more for good work, and service you can count on. In fact, a competitor offered to provide me a fake contract so I could get a larger tax refund. That eliminated that that estimate. I figured if they could lie to others they could just as easily lie to me.
Description of Work: Our latest use of this service was for a water heater replacement, but we previously used them for an HVAC replacement and an AC repair.

Four Seasons came to my home for duct cleaning. They were punctual and very personable. It was a big job, they were here for hours and were very clean and careful. They treated myself and my home with respect and had that old fashioned work ethic. It turned out to be a good experience and I would recommend this company very highly. Once in your home it becomes apparent that their reputation is very important and they are careful to leave a good impression and a sense of trust with the client.
Description of Work: A very friendly and courteous team of young men came out to my house to clean my ducts. They were very professional and thorough. My home is 2500 square feet and they removed each and every vent cover and washed and replaced it again. They treated my home and furniture as if it was their own. It was truly a great experience and I felt that I got my money's worth. We are all breathing better now.

On the afternoon December 30, 2010 our furnace suddenly would not deliver heat. By 7PM I was looking for someone who could come out that evening and found 4 Seasons. When I called, the customer service agent said they could have someone out in 2-3 hours. Well, 9 PM came. Then 10 PM. Then 11 PM. No service tech and no phone call explaining to me why nobody was here yet. So I called them back and the agent apologized and said the tech was still working on other customers in the queue and said it could be another 2-3 hours. She had no answer when I asked why I was given the original 2-3 hour time estimate. At that point, it was unseasonably warm outside and we had space heaters that could keep us warm enough overnight, so I scheduled for early the next day. The tech showed up the next day within the allotted time and got to work. It didn't take him very long to figure out that the igniter needed to be replaced. The estimate was outrageous, but we needed heat and I already had the sunk cost of the trip charge. I was charged $289 to replace a $20 part. (He left the box behind and I later looked up the part number on Google and found multiple sellers of the igniter he installed for between $18 and $21). The only reason my grade isn't worse is that the installer did a good job. My real dissatisfaction is with the rip-off price (I talked to another HVAC company recently that does the same job for $120) and the lack of customer service (and truth) on the front end. They will not be getting my business ever again.

I had to leave for work. I had another worker at my house, so he let the HVAC service man in to inspect the furnaces. I received several phone calls from Four Seasons. He told me the furnaces were leaking and that I needed 2 new furnaces. He wanted to know if I wanted him to continue with the inspection. I told him I did and asked if he would leave me specific information about the issues. His comments on the report he left were very vague. Four Seasons wanted to send a sales person out to my house. At first I agreed, but then changed my mind. I had an independent HVAC company out to do some duct work. They also checked the furances and found they were working just fine. I can't help but think that Four Seasons was trying to make a sale rather than doing the job they were hired to do. I later found out the technician makes quite a nice spiff if he sells a furnace because of a routine inspection service. I would not hire Four Seasons in the future.
Description of Work: After the furnace inspections, I was told I needed 2 new furnaces or repairs at about $800.00 for each furnance. I had an independent HVAC company come out for some duct work. They also checked the furnaces and said they were fine. Hmmmm!

We take this diagnosis very serious and have tried to get back in contact with you via the phone and certified letter. It all went well from start to finish, and they made compensation for a missed judgment on their estimator's part, or the installer saw the job differently than the estimator. I'm not faulting anyone here. Job was completed and I'm happy with results. They made sure I had heat in the house since they had to return the next day to finish the job of installing the A/C.
Description of Work: New furnace and A/C unit was installed under some difficult circumstances since I was having concrete work done on the outside at the same time. The job was completed and they did a good job of cleaning up after themselves.

Excellent. I'd recommend our salesman, John O'Brien (708-768-3016). He did come out a second time to check if the chimney liner was needed (it was) and if the two stage furnace would work well in our old house. The two installers started at 9am and left at 6:30pm. They were very thorough, professional, and worked very hard. They asked questions and explained things as they went along. The reconstructed the plenum, installed the chimney liner, replaced the furnace and air conditioning unit. The reinforced the vent hanging from the ceiling as it was sagging. They replaced circuits for the air conditioner and switch boxes where needed. They went into the crawl space and added pipe into the sump pump pit. They cleaned up everything very well. The inspection two days later was just fine. Highly recommended.
Description of Work: Replacement of furnace and central air conditioning unit. Installed chimney liner for higher efficient furnace, added piping in crawl space to sump pump pit, reinforced vent, new flue pip, new plenum, new thermostat.
