I called a total of four window companies to replace the windows in my home, and I chose Four Seasons based on the no-haggle approach that their very professional salesperson took with me. Four Seasons was the last estimate I received and by the time they arrived I expected them to do what the other 3 did which was to start with a high price and then tell me that they'd give me "free installation". One even dropped their price by 50% if I signed right then and there. I've been around long enough to see through that nonsense. But I was pleasantly surprised. Larry had a pricebook with Four Seasons' pricing right in it. There was no back-and-forth, no bait and switch. And I liked him. So, I signed on with Four Seasons that day. My windows were installed less than 3 weeks later (yesterday) and I am VERY pleased with the way they look (beautiful wood grains and grids) and perform. I had 2 windows previously that let a fair amount of draft through them, and that is no longer the case. I'd recommend these guys to anyone. You'll get exactly what they tell you you'll get and you don't have to worry that they played a pricing game with you or second guess that you could have paid less.
Description of Work: Replaced the single-hung windows in my home with low-E double-hung windows.

A great experience. We will continue to use Four Seasons for our HVAC needs; even though our new A/C and furnace have a warranty from another company. I would recommend them to others; I wish we would have used them for previous needs.
Description of Work: Our AC/Condensor and furnace were running at the same time when we turned the heater on; we'd have to turn the heater up to 80 degrees to get hot air to come out. We also had a water leak from the furnace in the basement. Four Seasons has a trip/diagnosis charge of $85 which is comparable to other companies. They were supposed to be here between 3-7, but when I called the company at 7 for an update, it sounded like they might have forgotten us; she said she'd have someone here in 30 minutes. It was about 8:15PM when they showed up; the delayed arrival was a bit inconvenient. However, the tech made up for that! Their tech, Mat, was professional, informative, reassuring, and efficient. Getting to us that late indicated it had already been a 12 hour day, yet he was friendly and accomodating. He diagnosed the problem quickly, explained clearly to us the issue, replaced the thermostat, fixed the leak to us, and even looked at a vent that we felt we had an issue with (unrelated) when I know he had other service calls to get to.

The duct cleaning had some issues, including some return vents not cleaned and the dryer vent left completely plugged; however technicians returned to correct the problem, including one visit at noon on a Sunday to correct the dryer vent issue. The install of the new HVAC systems went smooth and they are working great. Four Seasons seems to have a good team of people that know what they are doing and if any problems arise they are eager to make things right.
Description of Work: Installed two new furnace and A/C systems, including upgraded filters, humidifiers, and thermostats. Also cleaned all ductwork in the house before install. Four Seasons is not the cheapest deal out there, but from what I see so far they have a fully staffed group of well trained professional technicians and a service department that is available 24/7/365 to handle any problems. They also included a warranty and service package that no other company came close to offering.

About two months ago, I have been told there is a crack in the 16-year old Carrier heat exchanger, and the furnace must be replaced. During my ?comparison shopping?, I have picked Four Seasons, Heating & Air Conditioning from the Angie?s list to replace the furnace by the similar one. I expected new furnace to work better, than the old one, because of the fast technical progress in all areas during last 15 years. Unfortunately, that did not happen. The new Lennox ML180UH090P36B furnace did not perform to my expectations. The major problem is the noise. I wanted to upgrade the furnace to the quiet "variable speed" one, and I will pay the difference (about $2000). However, they suggested I pay full price (about $4000). Then I have posted a report with Angie's List. Four seasons has contacted me and suggested to upgrade the furnace to the quiet "variable speed" one, and I will pay the difference ($1700). Thank you, Angie!
Description of Work: New Lennox ML180UH090P36B furnace has been installed to replace an old defective furnace.

I sent an email requesting an estimate at approximately 9pm or so and I received a phone call within the hour. WOW! Lisa worked with me as I had to schedule and then reschedule around family trips, birthdays, and illnesses. On the day of the appointment, Dean and Justin were prompt, professional, and so polite. The process took a few hours and they were hard at work the entire time. It's just so great when a company delivers the service they promised in the manner they promised. I will definitely use them again.
Description of Work: I contacted Four Seasons because I needed my air ducts cleaned. The service also included cleaning out the dryer vent.

We had the AC fixed a few weeks ago by another company and felt we were overcharged. Then, our furnace was suddenly was not producing heat. We called the first company and he gave us an estimate that seemed really high. We joined Angie's list specifically to evaluate this service. We called 4 seasons and they scheduled an appointment for someone to come out. I work very close and was expecting a call on my cell. I didn't get a call and my daughter called to say someone showed up and left. I was already on my way home and was angry that he left without calling my cell. Also, my 25 year old could have shown him to the furnace. We called 4 seasons and they contacted him to come back. He did and he had the wrong number for my cell. It didn't start well. But then he wrote an estimate for a new furnace, will a special including the humidifier. The estimate was significantly less than others. We signed the contract. The furnace was installed (see above) on a Saturday. The two installers came exactly at the time they were supposed to come. They had everything they needed and worked efficiently for hours. After they left, we determined that the thermostat was defective and the heat wouldn't turn off. 4 Seasons sent someone the next day within a few hours of when we called -on a Sunday- and replaced the thermostat. It's been a week and we notice a difference with a whole house humidifier. Really we got a great deal, as the nearest estimate from others was $500 more without the humidifier. Overall we are very happy!
Description of Work: Purchased a new Lenox furnace, based on reviews from Angie's list. Price included installation and removal of old furnace, humidifier, and thermostat. They came on Saturday morning, and did it all in about 7 hours. The installers were excellent at the custom duck work and installation. They covered the floors and cleaned up everything.

Had a new furnace and air conditioner installed, which included a chimney liner and cap, a humidifier and replacing some lines to the water heater. We were extremely satisfied with the whole experience, from the estimate provided by Gary Krakowski to the installation by Miguel and Nick, who were here for 12 hours! Gary's estimate was top notch and he talked us out of certain things we didn't need (i. e. new water heater) and additional duct work to the upstairs. I felt he was very knowledgeable and honest, and the price was very fair. We had an estimate from a competitor and it wasn't even close to the deal we got from 4 Seasons. Thanks for the great job!

A/C stopped putting out cold air. Found an ice block forming on the outside of the unit. Since this had happened about 6 weeks prior, we knew to turn a/c off and run fan to defrost. But since it had recently happened, we decided to use Angie's List to find a reputable service provider. Tech came to our house on Friday night and worked by headlamp. He kept me informed of everything he was doing and what he found, and the steps to remedy the issue. We ended up purchasing an annual contract so we can have a free inspection in the fall of our furnace, as well as a spring checkup of our a/c unit. Purchasing the contract also lowered our overall costs of materials (freon) needed. As a new homeowner, it was nice to find a reputable company to form a relationship with for the future. I should add that someone from the office called me the next day to check on how the service call went, and if I had any concerns/questions.
Description of Work: A/C unit had frozen up. Tech performed a check and found that we were down on our freon. Tech also ran additional diagnostic tests to make certain freon was the only issue.

The guy from 4 seasons came in and got my air conditioner working again. My air conditioner had been broken since last year. Last year I called Doornbos to fix it. They had to come out 2 times and never got the thing working. Doornbos' work is not guaranteed, so each time they came out they made me pay dearly. 4 seasons get my air conditioner working on the first visit. Great work!

After checking my a/c unit and having a thermostat problem which was under their "no charge for service call guarantee" I could not get them out to check it. When I called them because they didn't show up for several appointments, they finally told me there were people without a/c and since mine was working; we were a low priority. I finally canceled the 8th appointment and called in someone else. It took all of five minutes and a small adjustment by another a/c contractor that didn't even charge me. Four Seasons is getting too big for their britches and they have ZERO customer service. Even the BBB had several complaints about their "service" or lack of it. Will NEVER call them again.
Description of Work: Came out to check/tune up air conditioning unit that they installed. Guarantee said if there were any problems they would come out at no charge for service call. Called them SEVERAL times to check thermostat; they kept canceling when I called them; or they didn't show up at all.

I regret that you did not feel that you had a good experience with us. Every customer is very important to us. We also stand behind our work if a problem should occur. While we do show that there were cancellations in the service you requested, we checked our phone recordings and show that you had to cancel the appointments on two occasions. On 5/10/11- You called into our office and stated a family member had to be taken to the emergency room and on 5/11/11 you called and stated you called another company to perform the service. We do not have any other activity or cancellations after that date. We are sorry that we could not perform the work that you requested and would like the opportunity to see if we can resolve this matter. Please call Rick @ 7773-284-6161 X5356

I was very pleased with the professional service that I received. I did call around before the tech came out and found the price was a little lower then I was quoted over the phone. I will not think twice about using Four Seasons Heating & Air Conditioning again.
Description of Work: I had a service tech out on Friday to check my A/C system. They said someone would be out within 2 hours. I was surprised when the tech was at my home in one hour. The tech was very friendly and caring. I told him my problem of the 2nd. floor A/C not cooling & the system was always running. The tech said I was low on freon and put a few pounds in and cleaned my outside unit. The tech also said I needed to change my filters more offen, once a month.

I can't imagine how it could have gone any better! These guys definitely lived up to their great reputation!
Description of Work: I have a Lennox air conditioner that conveniently quit working on Labor Day morning (this morning). Of course I have 70 guests coming over today for a BBQ, so why wouldn't it fail? Anyway, I went through the yellow pages and called 6 HVAC companies, with Four Seasons being the 6th. Of the other 5, 3 calls went right to voicemail and 2 went to an answering service. I called 866-4SEASONS and I got a live operator who was actually a Four Seasons employee. Their ad said "guaranteed 2 hour response time" I asked the woman on the phone if that applied to holidays too (because I'm sure it wouldn't), and, to my surprise, she said that it applied 365 days a year and she'd have a technician right out to me. The technician arrived about 45 minutes later and quickly identified the problem. As it turned out, the problem wasn't with the air conditioner, but with the circuit board on the furnace. I guess that needs to be working in order to blow the air through the vents. Anyway, the tech was extremely knowledgable and was prepared to fix the furnace on the spot, on the holiday, even though I didn't even report the correct problem over the phone. They even honored my Lennox warranty for the part even though they didn't install the furnace. So, they came out, on a holiday, within an hour, to perform warranty work on a system they didn't even install. What a great group of people. I'd recommend Four Seasons to anyone.

I recently did some research when I was in need of a new HVAC system. I purchased a home a little over 4 years ago and still had the original builder's equipment installed. We had some issues with the second floor in both the summer and winter, which seems it is common problem after speaking with all of the neighbors. I live in the south suburbs and called four different companies, all on a Sunday afternoon, just to see which ones answered. Only one company (Four Seasons Heating and Air) answered the phone and booked the appointment, the rest I left messages for and received a call back sometime on Monday, anywhere from 1130a all the way until late Monday night from the one. I had all the estimates planned for the upcoming days, Four Seasons was first. The estimator was Mike Kelderhouse. Very nice gentleman, lived locally, he was on-time for the appointment, had quite a few things to say to help improve the quality of the airflow in the house, spoke to me like a was a real person, not just another sale. I was impressed with his presentation, but informed him that I needed a week to get my three more estimates. He did not "pressure sell me" which I appreciated. The following days I had the other estimates, (two were late and one rescheduled for the following day) and looked at all of them side by side. I should have cancelled the one that rescheduled because by far he was the highest and most unpleasant when I said I was buying that night. Apparently, this is a technique I have read about where they want to be the last one in. What I did not like about the others was the "pressure" technique which seemed to be common, except for Mike. Mike gave me the time to divulge everything, and the others did not. Mike did call me back and offer me a duct cleaning at a discounted price if we chose him, but still did not feel pressured. Four Season's at the end, won my business. And actually, I probably could have done two estimates and would have been fine, especially with the ease of the internet information these days. As far as the installation, Mike offered next day service, and I asked him being that the next day was a Sunday, and he replied that he remembered that I said I was usually only off on Sundays. I was impressed that he remembered that. I did take him up on the Sunday installation. NO EXTRA CHARGE! He did say that Sundays are for exceptional cases. I guess I was exceptional. The two installers showed up on Sunday morning, clean, pleasant, ready to work. They introduced themselves, Frank Storino and his helper, (I feel bad, but I think his name was Tim, or Tom (?)) asked if I had any concerns before they started, and started right in. They laid down some tarps going into the basement to preserve my wife's hardwood floor, which I thought was professional. We bought a 80% Variable Speed with the XC14, with a 40 Gallon Hot Water Tank. We did take Mike up on the Duct Cleaning, but are planning on doing it in late September. He quoted us $599 and gave us until Sept 30th for completion, which we thought was fair. The installation went exceptional! The installers were meticulous, professional and far superior that I was expecting. This Labor Day weekend, we received a follow-up call from Katie in the Installation Dept, just checking in with us on the installation. On a holiday weekend!!!! As you can tell, I cannot say enough about the experience I have just had with this company. I could not recommend them more or too enough people. If you are considering anything related to HVAC, and it seems like they do it all, give them a call. You may just save yourself time and money by calling them first.
Description of Work: We purchased a Lennox Variable 80% Furnace, and XC14 (16 SEER) Air Conidtioner, and 40 Gallon Hot Water Tank, with a Duct Cleaning scheduled for a date in September.

The service technician arrived promptly and after an initial introduction started inspecting the unit. He pulled the external "fuse", unscrewed an access panel on the outside of the unit and indicated that the capacitor looked suspicious, so he went to his van to get a new one. When he returned, he attached a pressure meter to the compressor and installed the new capacitor. Cost? $180. When the A/C inside the house was turned back on, the fan and compressor started. As the compressor started running, he indicated that the pressure as indicated by the pressure meter was "too high" and yanked the fuse to shut down the unit. This, he said, was an indication that something was wrong with the compressor or elsewhere. So he started measuring the electrical resistance of the compressor. As he started taking measurements, he told me that the resistance should be the same at all three points that he was going to measure. They weren't. They increased from 1 (ohms) to 3. Then he hooked up a "compressor checker", a single box an LED scale, that indicated the compressor was bad. He also noticed a small kink in the coolant line leading to the house. Estimated cost to replace the pipe? $1000. We then started talking replacement. We were quoted a ~ $8000 replacement system (including furnace) and a special "buy now" deal of $2000 off. (By the way, I found the technician extremely well versed in sales). Instead, we opted to buy a service contract, get additional quotes and have a second opinion made on the state of the unit. The second opinion indicated: 1. The capacitor is a $15 part. 2. The extra pressure was due to on over-fill of freon. (Coincidentally, Four Seasons added freon on a separate service call one year ago). 3. The resistance check was incorrect. All research I've done says nothing was wrong electrically with our compressor. 4. The kink in the line is currently a non-issue. 5. Two weeks later, the house remains cool. I complained to Four Seasons. Here's what happened: 1. They say that the capacitor cost difference is due to the warranty (parts + labor). I wasn't given the option of dropping the warranty. 2. No response to the pressure "check", resistance "check" inconsistencies or the fact that my A/C continues to run with a a simple capacitor replacement. 3. They refunded the cost of the yearly maintenance ($83, discounted) I understand the my A/C unit is getting pretty old and maybe it won't last much longer. But the bottom line is that at every possible moment, I was steered towards buying a new unit when I didn't need one-- from the high cost of the capacitor to the resistance and pressure checks to the kink. In my opinion, Four Seasons was not interested in keeping my unit running.
Description of Work: The fan and compressor on our (19 year old) external air conditioning unit stopped working. We called Four Seasons to perform a diagnosis of the unit and provide an estimate for repair.

We are sorry that you were not happy with the service we performed. I have pulled our phone recordings for reference since we record all of our incoming calls for quality. On 8/19/11 you called into our sales office and inquired about financing new equipment. You asked about an advertisement that you had in your possession on what types of equipment we could offer. You then asked to place a service call. At the time of placing the service call you asked what would happen with the service fee should you need a new piece of equipment since your equipment was 19 years old. You also mentioned that your unit was not currently working. Our technician arrived and did find that you needed a new capacitor and quoted you $180.00. You mention that the capacitor is a $15.00 part. However our capacitors cost $33.00 and the price that you were quoted covers the time to install the capacitor, the technicians time to further check the unit once the capacitor is installed and a life time warranty on the capacitor. After the technician installed the capacitor the pressure went way up. Our technician shut down the unit. Our technician did use his Megohmmeter to check your compressor. He checked the resistance level from each winding to ground. He found the compressor to have a bad winding. He showed you on his meter that this caused the meter to be in the yellow and is a sign of the compressor going bad. He also noted that both of your units have coil damage. He also noticed other potential problems such as the kink in the line set. Based on the age and overall condition of your units, our technician recommended replacement. In regards to pricing for replacement, our technician did offer you approximately $2000 off the normal price for the following reasons:  Manufacturer rebate from Lennox (Please visit Lennox.com)  Gas company rebate  Tax credit from the government Some of these rebates are about to expire or have been reduced. Also per your review, your unit is currently working at this time. While it is possible to repair most situations, it may not be cost effective. Also this unit has not experienced another summer of heat and humidity and based on the problems our technician wanted to give you options. A new unit would come with new warranties/guarantees and would give you peace of mind for next summer. Purchasing new equipment is always the customer’s decision and we did give you options and information based on the tests that the technician ran. We would really still like to discuss this with you but we cannot get you to return our phone calls. We hope that we can reach a resolution that will satisfy your concerns. Please call me @ 773-284-6161 X 5356. Thank you Rick

They gave me an estimate of $9,990. They said the unit could not be repaired and I would need a whole new unit. The repair man called the company back and they got in touch with a specialist and they would give me a deal of $8,999. I told them to get out of my house because I was not that stupid. I have waited to submit this report until after another company made the repairs on the unit. The other company made the repairs for $500 which included labor. I feel that I was taken advantage of by Four Seasons.
Description of Work: They came to my home to provide an estimate to repair my A/C unit.

Response from Four Seasons Heating & Air Conditioning
We are sorry that you were not satisfied with the service that we provided. Our technician gave you two options at the time of service. One was for repair since your unit was extremely low on refrigerant. The other option was replacement due to the overall condition and age of your unit. I have attempted to discuss with you the repair that the other company made to get your unit running. I do not know if this was a long term repair or a temporary repair. At Four Seasons we strive to give our customers long term solutions not short term repairs that will cost more money in the future. That is why our technician gave you options so you could decide on how to proceed. Again, I am sorry that we could not earn your business and would still like the opportunity to speak with you. Thank you Rick

I can not imagine doing business with any other heating and air conditioning company. I purchased my furnace and air conditioning unit from Four Seasons five years ago. I have maintained my annual inspections. This week when we returned from our vacation, we found that our air conditioner had stopped working. Even though it was in the evening they sent someone right out. Parts had to be ordered and the next day the unit was repaired at no cost to me because of their fabulous warranties. Every time I have had any type of dealings with this company I have been treated with such concern and respect. The company stands behind their products and service 150%. They are professional, reliable and a pleasure to do business with. They provide old fashioned care and service combined with the technology of today. I personally recommend them with no hesitations.
Description of Work: The air conditioning unit had stopped working and it was determined that it needed a new fan motor and capacitor.

Our air conditioner went out on a Thursday night during one of the extreme heat waves this summer and we were supposed to leave the country for 10 days on Sunday. On Friday morning we called deljo and all temp and neither of them were able to send a service man that day. We called four seasons feeling slightly desperate and not only were they able to send a salesman that morning but they were also able to install a new air-conditioner that day. It might have helped that we had already been told by other repairmen that we needed a new unit, the one we had was over 20 years so we told them outright that we wanted a new unit. The salesman was very honest with us about the options and didn't try and upsell us on a unit that we didn't need. The installation guys arrived that afternoon. There was only one hiccup about one of the parts being incorrect and unfortunately one of the guys had to run to their office and pick up the right part. Due to this setback they didn't leave until about 7:30 on Friday night but they didn't complain and were thorough in giving instructions on how to use the new system even though it was so late. Overall, we were pleased that everything was resolved one day after the A/C went out.

As I said, it went well from start to finish. It helped that there was nothing wrong with the furnace, but I wouldn't hesitate to use them if there was a problem.
Description of Work: I used an Angie's List Deal to have our old furnace checked and cleaned. It was quick and painless, no muss or fuss. They took their time and cleaned up nicely. They were better than most of the other heating companies we've used over the years.
