+ -1 moreThe project went as smoothly as one could expect considering the age of the house. The first issue we encountered very early on in the project was a structural load bearing issue by virtue of removing a small pantry in the existing kitchen. My first thought was "great, we have to rework our kitchen design". But Four Seasons had the expertise to immediately find a solution to redistribute the load according to code, while still allowing us to retain our original kitchen design plans. This gave me a great sense of confidence in their ability for the remainder of the project. As expected, the house yielded many other challenges along the way, but Four Seasons kept me informed almost daily of any issues, offered potential solutions, and cost estimates for any "extras". Together we discussed advantages/disadvantages of all the options before moving forward with any additional work. It was a real pleasure to know these guys seemd to care as much about this house as I did. Their professionalism, workmanship and courteous nature was an overall wonderful experience and wouldn't hesitate to utilize them again on any other projects.
Description of Work: We had purchased a 100 year old house that needed extensive renovation of two bathrooms, laundry area and kitchen. I had contacted Four Seasons Home Services for an estimate on a complete floor to ceiling remodel of these spaces. I was impressed from the start with Aaron L's professional approach by listening to our thoughts/ideas for the project, a thorough survey of the house in general, a complete analysis of the four spaces, and finally composed very detailed estimate of the necessary steps required to meet our objectives. Additionally, he advised us of some of the unexpected "surprises" that may occur during the course of the project. Where some contractors had only given me time and material estimates, Four Seasons was able to provide a complete step by step plan for the project along with a very reasonable cost estimate for all the work planned. A brief description of the project scope included complete tearout of ceilings, flooring and walls, creation of new entryways, removal of plumbing fixtures, relocation of radiant heat pipes, new drywall, sub-flooring, appropriate ventilation system(s) for a new gas oven/range, laundry and bathroom, expert installation of new cabinetry, all plumbing fixtures including sinks, toilets, tubs and related faucets and hardware, and my personal favorite, a unique set of floating shelves we utilize for storage in our new kitchen. Words really fall short in describing the nature of this project and all that was involved with modernizing these spaces while overcoming the obstacles of what a century old home can add in the way of challenges.

+ -1 moreAfter several rather annoying phone calls to other companies in the area, I called Four Seasons Home Services to inquire about their window installation department. The gentleman I spoke with on the phone was friendly and knowledgable without being overbearing. I decided to purchase my windows through them. On the day of installation the workers arrived on time and were extremely professional. They worked quickly and efficiently, yet took the time to answer any questions I had for them. I am very happy with my new windows. They look beautiful! I was also pleased to find out that Four Seasons offers a wide variety of home services. I will definitely be calling them again in the future.

+ -1 moreOur house has 2 furnaces and 2 a/c units. Four Seasons replaced one of each for us in prior years, and they've been doing the maintenance for us. We called and the same salesman we've had before came out. He gave us a very good price, and that was before he was told we were talking to other contractors. When I called Gary and told him we wanted them to do the job again, he set up the installation for me after I told him when I was available. The two gentlemen who came out were very conscientious, polite and neat. They did a really great job, and listened me when I talked to them about where the exhaust and intake pipes needed to be. It was a long day, and they worked steadily, and did a great job. They cleaned up everything when they were done.
Description of Work: We decided it was time to replace our 20 year old furnace and a/c. The salesman (Gary) came out and gave us a very good price. Two days later the units were installed.

They even had someone do a follow up phone call to make sure everything was done to our satisfaction. Very good customer service.
Description of Work: Our A/C needed to be replaced. We got 3 estimates and while Four Seasons was not the cheapest, they were the most helpful and responsive with any questions we had.

My appointment time was between 12-4 and Oscar showed up around 1. He was very nice and knowledgable. He made sure to clean up when he was done and was very respectful of our home. I will be using Four Seasons again and I hope Oscar is sent.
Description of Work: I called to have an annual clean up of our furnace but more work ended up needing to be done. At first I thought this was going to cost me a lot of money but it didn't. I got a lower price than another company, like 500 less, and the work was done timely.

replacement windows
+ -1 moreIn a matter of 3 hours, Four Seasons Home Services removed my old windows and installed replacement windows. The rest of the day, and the following morning was spent on wrapping the outside frames with vinyl. I am thrilled with the service and the product. Installers arrived on time, worked very quickly and I got the feeling that they enjoyed the work they do. The workers clean up perfectly after themselves-- not a scrap of wood or a stray nail anywhere. I didn't realize what a difference the new windows would make. They open so much easier, there are no drafts, they're very easy to clean, but what really hit me was when my neighbor fired up his (very loud) muscle car and the windows didn't rattle!! It's much quieter in the house. We opted for a wood grain vinyl finish for the kitchen and living room since they are the most visible. They match very well to the existing woodwork. We had white ones installed in the bedrooms. The bathroom is tempered, obscure glass.

+ -1 moreI had an all around great experience with this company from start to finish. Our furnace went out due to a faulty ignitor so I called to have somebody take a look. The technician was extremely prompt in arriving to the home - this was a Sunday night. He confirmed my suspicion about the ignitor and upon further inspection saw that the motor was cracked, and then after looking deeper found a cracked heat exchanger. He was very good about showing me exactly what the problems were and demonstrating them to me. Well, a cracked heat exchanger means I had to get a new furnace. This furnace was past its lifespan, so these problems were not unexpected. He worked with me on the price and said they could get it done that night if I wished (9pm). I decided to hold off until the next day in order to get another estimate since this is a big ticket item. After getting a comparable estimate (from A.W.E. who I did not have a good experience with - separate review to come), Four Seasons again worked with me on the cost, and was able to get the installation started within 2 hours - wow! The installers were polite, explained everything thoroughly, and cleaned up nicely. I will absolutely call Four Seasons again when I have future HVAC needs. The A rating on Angie's List is well deserved.

air duct cleaning
+ -1 moreI was called before the technicians arrived to let me know when they would be at my home. When they got here they explained to me what the process was and I showed them around the house. They setup their massive equipment and showed me how the process worked along with explained the filtering system they use (impressive). They were at my home for 2 hours and were very thorough in their work. They went to each duct and cleaned them with their system, dust each vent and shop vac'd each vent too. After they were done working they showed my wife and me what they had captured in their filter. Although we couldn't see all the dust they collected there were many other materials in their system, even a roll of tape. I will say I was skeptical of having this service performed, and it is truly hard to realize the results right away, but I am pleased with Four Season's as a company. I was impressed with their professionalism and work ethic. Four Season's is a great company to deal with from their office staff to the employees who have come to their home. Thank you Four Season's.
Description of Work: I contacted Four Seasons to have our air ducts cleaned after researching the topic through their website, nadca.com and consumer reviews on Angie's List. The home we purchased is 30 years old and my wife has allergies and after cleaning furniture it is full of dust the next day. After 30 years we thought it would be a good idea to have them cleaned after debating on getting a air purifier for the house. We thought we would start here and see how the results were. .

Description of Work: Four Seasons came to my house, explained what they were going to be doing that day in detail and asked if that was my understanding of the process. + -1 moreI called a total of four window companies to replace the windows in my home, and I chose Four Seasons based on the no-haggle approach that their very professional salesperson took with me. Four Seasons was the last estimate I received and by the time they arrived I expected them to do what the other 3 did which was to start with a high price and then tell me that they'd give me "free installation". One even dropped their price by 50% if I signed right then and there. I've been around long enough to see through that nonsense. But I was pleasantly surprised. Larry had a pricebook with Four Seasons' pricing right in it. There was no back-and-forth, no bait and switch. And I liked him. So, I signed on with Four Seasons that day. My windows were installed less than 3 weeks later (yesterday) and I am VERY pleased with the way they look (beautiful wood grains and grids) and perform. I had 2 windows previously that let a fair amount of draft through them, and that is no longer the case. I'd recommend these guys to anyone. You'll get exactly what they tell you you'll get and you don't have to worry that they played a pricing game with you or second guess that you could have paid less.

+ -1 moreA great experience. We will continue to use Four Seasons for our HVAC needs; even though our new A/C and furnace have a warranty from another company. I would recommend them to others; I wish we would have used them for previous needs.
Description of Work: Our AC/Condensor and furnace were running at the same time when we turned the heater on; we'd have to turn the heater up to 80 degrees to get hot air to come out. We also had a water leak from the furnace in the basement. Four Seasons has a trip/diagnosis charge of $85 which is comparable to other companies. They were supposed to be here between 3-7, but when I called the company at 7 for an update, it sounded like they might have forgotten us; she said she'd have someone here in 30 minutes. It was about 8:15PM when they showed up; the delayed arrival was a bit inconvenient. However, the tech made up for that! Their tech, Mat, was professional, informative, reassuring, and efficient. Getting to us that late indicated it had already been a 12 hour day, yet he was friendly and accomodating. He diagnosed the problem quickly, explained clearly to us the issue, replaced the thermostat, fixed the leak to us, and even looked at a vent that we felt we had an issue with (unrelated) when I know he had other service calls to get to.

+ -1 moreThe duct cleaning had some issues, including some return vents not cleaned and the dryer vent left completely plugged; however technicians returned to correct the problem, including one visit at noon on a Sunday to correct the dryer vent issue. The install of the new HVAC systems went smooth and they are working great. Four Seasons seems to have a good team of people that know what they are doing and if any problems arise they are eager to make things right.
Description of Work: Installed two new furnace and A/C systems, including upgraded filters, humidifiers, and thermostats. Also cleaned all ductwork in the house before install. Four Seasons is not the cheapest deal out there, but from what I see so far they have a fully staffed group of well trained professional technicians and a service department that is available 24/7/365 to handle any problems. They also included a warranty and service package that no other company came close to offering.

+ -1 moreAbout two months ago, I have been told there is a crack in the 16-year old Carrier heat exchanger, and the furnace must be replaced. During my ?comparison shopping?, I have picked Four Seasons, Heating & Air Conditioning from the Angie?s list to replace the furnace by the similar one. I expected new furnace to work better, than the old one, because of the fast technical progress in all areas during last 15 years. Unfortunately, that did not happen. The new Lennox ML180UH090P36B furnace did not perform to my expectations. The major problem is the noise. I wanted to upgrade the furnace to the quiet "variable speed" one, and I will pay the difference (about $2000). However, they suggested I pay full price (about $4000). Then I have posted a report with Angie's List. Four seasons has contacted me and suggested to upgrade the furnace to the quiet "variable speed" one, and I will pay the difference ($1700). Thank you, Angie!

Lisa worked with me as I had to schedule and then reschedule around family trips, birthdays, and illnesses. On the day of the appointment, Dean and Justin were prompt, professional, and so polite. The process took a few hours and they were hard at work the entire time. It's just so great when a company delivers the service they promised in the manner they promised. I will definitely use them again.

+ -1 moreWe had the AC fixed a few weeks ago by another company and felt we were overcharged. Then, our furnace was suddenly was not producing heat. We called the first company and he gave us an estimate that seemed really high. We joined Angie's list specifically to evaluate this service. We called 4 seasons and they scheduled an appointment for someone to come out. I work very close and was expecting a call on my cell. I didn't get a call and my daughter called to say someone showed up and left. I was already on my way home and was angry that he left without calling my cell. Also, my 25 year old could have shown him to the furnace. We called 4 seasons and they contacted him to come back. He did and he had the wrong number for my cell. It didn't start well. But then he wrote an estimate for a new furnace, will a special including the humidifier. The estimate was significantly less than others. We signed the contract. The furnace was installed (see above) on a Saturday. The two installers came exactly at the time they were supposed to come. They had everything they needed and worked efficiently for hours. After they left, we determined that the thermostat was defective and the heat wouldn't turn off. 4 Seasons sent someone the next day within a few hours of when we called -on a Sunday- and replaced the thermostat. It's been a week and we notice a difference with a whole house humidifier. Really we got a great deal, as the nearest estimate from others was $500 more without the humidifier. Overall we are very happy!
Description of Work: Purchased a new Lenox furnace, based on reviews from Angie's list. Price included installation and removal of old furnace, humidifier, and thermostat. They came on Saturday morning, and did it all in about 7 hours. The installers were excellent at the custom duck work and installation. They covered the floors and cleaned up everything.

Gary's estimate was top notch and he talked us out of certain things we didn't need (i. e. new water heater) and additional duct work to the upstairs. I felt he was very knowledgeable and honest, and the price was very fair. We had an estimate from a competitor and it wasn't even close to the deal we got from 4 Seasons. Thanks for the great job!

+ -1 moreA/C stopped putting out cold air. Found an ice block forming on the outside of the unit. Since this had happened about 6 weeks prior, we knew to turn a/c off and run fan to defrost. But since it had recently happened, we decided to use Angie's List to find a reputable service provider. Tech came to our house on Friday night and worked by headlamp. He kept me informed of everything he was doing and what he found, and the steps to remedy the issue. We ended up purchasing an annual contract so we can have a free inspection in the fall of our furnace, as well as a spring checkup of our a/c unit. Purchasing the contract also lowered our overall costs of materials (freon) needed. As a new homeowner, it was nice to find a reputable company to form a relationship with for the future. I should add that someone from the office called me the next day to check on how the service call went, and if I had any concerns/questions.
Description of Work: A/C unit had frozen up. Tech performed a check and found that we were down on our freon. Tech also ran additional diagnostic tests to make certain freon was the only issue.

They had to come out 2 times and never got the thing working. Doornbos' work is not guaranteed, so each time they came out they made me pay dearly. 4 seasons get my air conditioner working on the first visit. Great work!

They did not leave outside pipe vents exposed, they finished the ends. Duct work and pipe work was finished and cleaned. Professional estimator, was patient, thorough and well informed. + -1 moreAfter checking my a/c unit and having a thermostat problem which was under their "no charge for service call guarantee" I could not get them out to check it. When I called them because they didn't show up for several appointments, they finally told me there were people without a/c and since mine was working; we were a low priority. I finally canceled the 8th appointment and called in someone else. It took all of five minutes and a small adjustment by another a/c contractor that didn't even charge me. Four Seasons is getting too big for their britches and they have ZERO customer service. Even the BBB had several complaints about their "service" or lack of it. Will NEVER call them again.
Description of Work: Came out to check/tune up air conditioning unit that they installed. Guarantee said if there were any problems they would come out at no charge for service call. Called them SEVERAL times to check thermostat; they kept canceling when I called them; or they didn't show up at all.
