Furnace was not heating and it was a Sat. night. Called Four Seasons Heating & Air Conditioning around 8:00pm and the tech was at the house in about 1 hour. He was knowledgeable and courteous. He had the part with him. Furnace was fixed in 45 minutes. Four Seasons does not charge extra for an "off hours" call. We were given a lifetime parts and labor guarantee, too. The only complaint we have is that the part was overpriced. My husband could get the part locally for one fifth of the price that they charge. Overall we were happy with the company.
Description of Work: Furnace not heating on one of the coldest nights this past winter. Tech replaced an igniter on the furnace.

Response to an online request for an estimate was less than five minutes and the actual estimate day and time was tailored around my schedule. Wes arrived on time and was a consumate professional helping us choose the best option for our house. The installation team was on time and kept our house and their work area clean. They did a thorough installation and explaination of the new units. There were no surprises and the price we paid was exactly what the estimate stated. I will be using Four Seasons for all our heating and a/c needs and I dont hesitate to recommend them to anyone who asks.

The blower of my HVAC stopped working last night. So looking at the Angie's List reviews I decided to call Four Seasons. Upon arrival, the technician started looking for the problem and found that the capacitor was not working and needed to be replaced. I asked how much it would cost, and he gave me an estimate of $200. Not knowing better, I trusted him and asked him to go ahead. When he got the new part from his truck, I decide to look up the same part on the internet before he replaced it. To my surprise I found the exact same capacitor listed at Sears for $7, while Four Seasons was quoting 30 times that price. When I shared my finding with the technician, he mentioned that the price is set by the company, he showed me the company pricing book and told me that he could only replace the new part at that cost. Not having a way to immediately get the replacement part and not being trained to replace the part by myself, I asked him to replace the part for $200. It took the technician approximately 15 minutes to replace the capacitor. I had heard of such stories, but not expected to have gone through it myself. It is amazing how these companies can take advantage of people and charge exorbitant rates. I do plan to file a complaint with BBB, but wanted to share my experience with my fellow members first. ---------- UPDATE: Four Seasons customer service contacted me immediately to address the issue. They were very courteous and understanding, and I would say they are one of the few companies I have dealt with that take customer feedback so seriously. After listening to my side of the story, they agreed to give me a $100 credit towards future services. While this addresses my situation, I do not know that they will change their pricing to something more appropriate for other customers. Overall I would say their quality of service and customer service is good, but customers need to watch out for ourselves to make sure that price charged is fair.

I really thought the pricing was going to be insane, having checked a few years ago at replacement window prices for just our front room window. We had the whole house done for the price of that one window. We had a sales rep from Four Seasons come over to measure and give an estimate. Scheduled to work on Monday. They were prompt and courteous. I have three little ones at home, including a newborn. They moved my furniture and used drop cloths to minimize the mess. I really appreciate that! The windows were out quickly and they had two replaced when it started to thunder. They were able to get our old windows back in for the night. They were back early the next morning to finish up. They cleaned up both times. Love, love, love the windows.

After receiving the information about the company I did not contact them after the estimate.
Description of Work: I was going to use Four seasons because of its ratings and its add's. Checked with Better Business Burial a lot of complaints about what they promised. Also shows many locations only to find out they really only have one warehouse in chicago land area. When they took my measurements they shorted me sq feet and gave me a price of a smaller furnace than what I needed for my house. The price with the smaller furnace was the same as All Temp with the correct furnace & air conditioner.

Response from Four Seasons Heating & Air Conditioning
Four Seasons has spoken with this client in regards to his review. We appreciate the opportunity to discuss his concerns as well as his feedback. While Four Seasons has 6 locations in the Chicago-land Area and also holds an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau it is always great to learn what our customers are thinking and of new ways to innovate. We strive for complete customer satisfaction and hope that we have addressed all of his concerns.

The night our furnace went out was the same night of a big, and perhaps the only, winter storm in the Chicago area in 2012. At about 6:30 PM our furnace started making a new and not very reassuring noise. A couple of minutes after that a bad electrical smell starting coming through the vents. Soon afterwards the blower stopped. A quick inspection showed some very nice sparks near the blower when it was called upon by the furnace to start up: Time to log into Angie's List to find a recommended contractor. In spite of the bad weather, a service tech was dispatched and arrived within the promised time frame. He showed us that a possible cause of the problem was that a Nicor Solutions contractor who had cleaned the blower assembly several years ago had not correctly reinstalled it (we haven't had anything to do with Nicor Solutions for quite some time and do not recommend them. But I digress.) By 10 PM we had purchased a new furnace and A/C. The old units were 17 years old and were the cheapest that the builder could get away with: We were expecting to replace the A/C soon anyway as the compressor had started to make some troubling noises last season. My preference would have been to purchase a new furnace and A/C after getting several quotes but here it is, 10 PM in the middle of a big snow storm and the house was getting colder. At about 2 AM Saturday morning the installation crew showed up (on time) and commenced removal of the old furnace and the installation of the new one. They were polite and professional and consulted me about how I wanted the vent and exhaust pipes run. The new unit is a 95% efficiency model and does not use the old chimney. By 8 AM the furnace installation was complete and the house was warm again. That's less than 26 hours from the time we first starting having a problem to having a solution in place and working. A couple of days later the installers returned (at a time of my choosing) and finished the A/C installation. There was an issue with some noises in the vent system and a noise that new blower makes at the end of the cycle. They sent a tech out who correctly diagnosed the vent problem and called in a second tech about the blower noise. The second tech was knowledgable about vent system calculations and made a recommendation. What I liked: They do not charge extra for coming out in the middle of the night and in the middle of a major winter storm. I'm assuming this is built into their business model but I'm hardly going to complain. The phone was answered quickly. Everyone at Four Seasons that I talked to was polite and professional. It's hard to get a handle on the price, but they did quote for a humidifier option (which we declined). We'll install this as a DIY project as save some money but the price we were quoted was in line with what a decent unit installed would cost. What I did not like: The new furnace has a much stronger blower that the old one and is a little too powerful for the vent system. Looking about on the internet it seems this is not at all unusual and the noise problems we encountered are to be expected. It would have been nice if Four Seasons would have warned us that this might be the case. Instead, we were told that the new system would be quieter. This is not that big a deal as the techs that come out to diagnose the problem made some useful suggestions that are not expensive to implement and overall the house will be more comfortable than if we had gone with a less powerful system.

The circulating pump went out on the water boiler (for radiators). I contacted 4 Seasons for a repair. Sylvester came, assessed the system, discussed options of repair vs. replacement of the pump. We decided on a repair given the age of the system (>40 yrs). He also performed maintenance on this boiler and on boiler for second apartment. In the process of performing the maintenance he noticed the pressure was high, and inquired whether the overflow valve ever overflowed...which it did, although it was sporadic, it was minimal. He discussed additional things to monitor, given the higher than normal pressure and which valves to open and close. He did not hesitate in answering any of my technical questions. I was very pleased with his work, his professionalism, his overall demeanor. A day later, the overflow valve started spitting out buckets of water; the control valves apparently were defective; and the pressure did not drop. I called 4 Seasons again... this time to look to replace the boiler; The estimator came out the next day; the workers came a day later. Oscar and Miguel arrived punctually, worked diligently throughout the day; pulling out the old boiler and putting in the new. Miguel soldered a practical work of "pipe-art"; the controls he installed were easily accessible and he installed additional valves to assist in any future repairs; Oscar was the electrician/assistant. He replaced the thermostat in the apartment and took the time to review the instructions with us. He put on blue booties every time he entered the apartment. Both men worked seamlessly as a team. It was fantastic to watch. They, too, answered all of my questions, and did not hesitate to educate me on the new system/technology (it makes reading the technical manual easier to understand). The work area was left clean. I was very, very pleased. I highly recommend Miguel and Oscar for any heating repairs! Note: the cost of the new system included credit for the work done two days before

Our experience with them was fine. We did have to call them back on the duct cleaning and they did come back right away and finish the job, so that was fine. We would tell other members that they are pretty expensive, but they do have the backing of a company and they are reliable. We would use them again if needed.

Four Seasons was great. They came on time and were very quick with the servicing. I am a bit of a handyman and the technician took time to explain what he was doing and parts that I could even service myself. It was great to see that kind of patience and professionalism with someone who works on your house. There were a few other non-standard issues I wanted him to look at, like the potential for installing a new humidifier, that he took the time to consult with me on. He was very clean and professional. I'd highly recommend them to my friends. One caveat, though- they do call you pretty frequently after a year to remind you that you need to get another servicing appointment. That can be a bit frustrating, but you can't blame them from wanting to get you to be a repeat customer.

The electric pilot ignition on our 30 year old boiler stopped working so I had them come out for a service call. The person that came out was very nice and was able to diagnose the problem relatively quickly. Since it was an older boiler and past 7:00pm we would have to wait until the next day to find out the cost of the replacement part. The technician offered us use of electric space heaters for the night which I thought was very nice. As promised I received a call at 8:00am with quote for the replacement. The price seemed high but I was promised it would fix that day. A different technician came that afternoon with a replacement part that was compatible with what I had. 5 hours and another technician later everything was back to normal. All in all a 400% markup on part isn?t that bad if it takes 5 hours to install

Furnace was not working at all. We knew that the furnace was old when we bought our house 16 months ago. The guy came out within hours (gave us a 3-4 hour window) and said that he could do a quick fix for $400, but recommends a replacement as the unit was 20+ years old. We went with the replacement, as we wanted to avoid further problems given the brutal Chicago winters. We went with a higher quality furnace given the tall ceilings in our place; cheaper models were 300-800 dollars less. They replaced the furnace same day. Everything went smoothly; very professional. Even followed up to make sure everything was working OK. They threw in a free duct cleaning, but we didn't know it would 3-4 hours and our daughter was sick that day. We need to reschedule. We've had some very cold days and it's been nice and warm throughout the house. I will add that we've noticed a difference with the the humidifier, too. All in all, very trustworthy and professional company. I would definitely use them again (hope I don't need to) and recommend them to friends and family.

My Uncle recommended us to this company and he was right on. Sales Rep came over on Friday and setup to install next day - Saturday. The installers were here on one of the coldest days and did a great job. The techs Julio and Vincent were very knowledgeble and their workmanship was top notch. Worked non-stop and barely came up for air. The salesman Jeff also included 5 years of maintence visits free and warranty on furnace (20years parts and labor) and AC (12 years parts and labor) that puts all others to shame. Best decision we've made with our house

WONDERFUL! They could have easily sold us a new furnace (like another company we got an estimate from was willing). However Four Seasons was right up front and honest. Let us know that there was nothing wrong with our furnace and would easily get another 10 years out of it. Only thing they suggested (after we asked!) was to upgrade our filter and add a whole house humidifier. Which we decided to go with. LOVE not getting shocked with the house being to dry and the exceptional filter they installed really helps to keep the dust and dog dander down. They cleaned up everything BETTER than I expected.

Bought new boiler in July. Asked if it will service both the base board heat upstair and the floor heat downstair. Anser was yes, absolutely. We have had a mild fall and winter so far, so when we finally turned heat on, did not get heat upstairs. Called for service.Had to come a couple of times before it worked properly. They will come as often as you want. Once they go the heat upstairs working the downstairs was not. Many, many service calls to get that going. After about the first two, they tell me since I have galvenized piping going to the floor it all has to be replaced. Said it is not part of the boiler so that will be additional money. When they first looked at it they said they cannot quote it will have to write it all up back at the factory and will call the next day. Said it is normally a 1295.00 job, but since I have had some troubles, will do it for 900.00. I was not happy but agreed so that my daughter and son-in-law who live downstairs could have heat. Installer came to do the job, and said they were not given all the parts to replace all the piping, so did not do it all. Again frustrated I said they quoted me for all of it, so I should not have to pay for it all.. He called his superviser and he said can only give me a $20.00 discount for the parts not installed (How am I to know that is how much it costs for copper pipes?) I then asked what about the labor that was already charged me for all of the job? Supervisor said can only do the $20.00. Again frustrated. They did not tell me they needed a cashier's check, so had to put on my debit card. I split the price with my daughter. She was charged ok @430.00, but he charged me 470.00...I asked why and he said the total=900. I reminded him he just told me he would give me 20.00 off, The 470.00 went to my acct right away. He then issued a void on that transaction and charged me again for 450.00 which went to my acct right away. Didn't notice til the next day that my acct was now overdrawn because the voided transaction said "Approve off line". When I called my bank and advised of the void, they said it had not gone thru. When I called 4 seasons they had no record of it. Now I was angry. I offered to fax them my copies but they said they will have to investige and if they need them will call me. That took 2 days to get cleared up. VERY FRUSTRATING situation. All but one technitian were nice and customer serv for the most part was nice(sometimes I did not get return calls). Just don't understand why it took so many visits (some late at night) to get it corrected. Plus each time they sent a different person. Could be too many hands in the pot and some may not know what they are doing?? Update: Customer Service is working with me to find a way of satisfaction for all my troubles. Customer Service and I have agreed to a resolution for all my troubles.

Based on reviews from Angie's list, I called for a person to come out and give an estimate. Our rep came out on Sat morning at 8am and walked through all the details of getting a new furnace, including what I would need to expect, what my options were and how much each would cost. With this estimate being the 3rd I had received for this service, I knew as soon as our rep walked out the door this was the company we were going to use. Not only were in line with the other estimates, but their warranty was by far the best. On top of that, the rep that came to our house was great. He came fully prepared and left me what my cost would be before he left. I called him a few days later and scheduled the service. Six days later my furnace was being installed. Installation day I was at work and my wife was home so i was a bit concerned something would go wrong - but it went extremely smooth. I got home from work and you wouldn't have known we had received a new furnace (minus the missing boom of the old furnace kicking on). The basement was left spotless and the installation crew left no signs they were there. After the installation I needed to submit my rebate forms and once again the customer service from Four Seasons was there to help. They jumped in to help me get my North Shore Gas rebate after I ran into a small roadblock with them. On top of that, Four Seasons submitted my Lennox rebate form (which I haven't received yet but am not worried as they said it could take 6 weeks). Also they assured me they had registered my furnace so my warranty would go from 5 years to 10 years. Overall I couldn't have chosen a better HVAC company and I have made sure to tell everyone I know about them.

We were looking for a service provider to install a new HVAC system at our home, and contacted Four Seasons for a quote, as they were the top provider in our area listed on Angie's list. We were very disappointed by the professionalism of the salesman who talked to us. We were looking for an urgent service, and the salesman might have assumed that we would go with the first place that we called. We shared with him that our house had been without heat for 5 days - and that was not our choice - it happened the night before the holidays, we were out of town, and we were working with a home warranty service technician to determine if we needed a new furnace. The Four Seasons salesman laughed at us making remarks such as "Good luck with that" and "What are you waiting for." Needless to say, we did not go with Four Seasons given that first bad impression on the phone.
