I called Four Seasons Heating and Cooling to perform an annual cleaning of a furnace in a condo that I rent out. During the appointment the technician removed some duct tape from an exhaust pipe and said that there is a gap in the pipe. NOTE: It has been like this for the 10 years I?ve lived in the unit and was probably like that since the unit was built and there was never any problem. Also, at one point it did passed Chicago building inspection like this. Now here is the interesting part. I told the Four Seasons technician to leave it along and I would repair it. He told me that if I did not have Four Seasons do the work then he would completely turn off the heat and hot water in my unit. Additionally, He would go into the units of other owners in the building and completely turn off their heat and hot water. He said that turning off heat and hot water if I don?t have Four Seasons do the work IS their company policy, and the ONLY way for me to avoid this is by agreeing to the extra work. It was winter, and I felt I had no choice. I had to agree to additional unnecessary work and give him a credit card number immediately. I spoke with customer service from Four Seasons Heating and Cooling about this situation. The representative told that INDEED it is their standard company policy to turn off heat and hot water if people do not contract extra work through them. They further said that I can have the work done by someone else but they would STILL turn off the heat and hot water before they left, and the ONLY way to avoid this is by agreeing to have Four Seasons do the additional work. Illinois defines extortion as follows: (720 ILCS5/12-6) (from Ch. 38, par. 12-6) Sec. 12-6. Intimidation. (a) A person commits intimidation when, with intent to cause another to perform or to omit the performance of any act, he or she communicates to another, directly or indirectly by any means, a threat to perform without lawful authority any of the following acts: (1) Inflict physical harm on the person threatened or any other person or on property To me it seems like threatening to turn off the heat and hot water on my tenants during the winter meets this definition. Threatening to also do this to other owners in the building also seems to fit this definition. So they affected the repairs and left the old parts behind. The new parts were exactly the same as the old parts?AND?Four Seasons used duct tape to close the joints between the pipes. They railroaded me into $300 additional repairs and left me in the same place as before, except now I have newer duct tape. Do not use Four Seasons Heating and Cooling for any work in your home or business.
Description of Work: I called Four Seasons to perform an annual furnace inspection and cleaning. They used extortion to railroad me into additional unnecessary repairs.

They were more then $800 then the other company even though I told them the other company offered the exact same equipment for less with extras but since the furnace was out and they could do it right away, we felt like we were stuck. Then I get a mail ad with their promise that they beat anyones estimate so I call and ask why that wasn't done, I was told I would be called back but no surprise, never returned the call. I also missed out on a big rebate from Lennox because they never told me about it. I lost near $1,000 going with these guys and the install crews left shards of sheet metal and screws in the front yard, driveway and crawl space. The supervisor came out to insure there were no other problems and found the fan and thermostat were wired incorrectly, he appologized for the mess the installers left and gave an excuse of why the wiring was incorrect but the mess remained for me to finish cleaning up. I cannot understand the rating they have here, I cannot be the only household with these problems so maybe I can prevent another family of getting cheated like I feel we did. Update; Four Seasons called to respond to this review and they agreed to give us back $385 and added an additional 5 years to the warranty of the equipment. They were responsive to our concerns and very nice so in the end we were satisfied with the response.
Description of Work: Called them for repair, we already had another company for an estimate and yearly service and should have stuck with them. Four seasons came out last year for an issue and could not find the problem and told us if it occurred again, they would come out for free so that is why we called. The furnace went out so Four Seasons came out for a repair in November and we decided to ask for an estimate. They installed a new furnace and A/C

My downstairs furnace was not working so I called Four Seasons and they told me they would send a technician that same day. I told them I would not be home and requested them to come out the next day which was Saturday. They told me there would be someone there between 8:00AM & 12:PM. The technican named Marshall called that day around 10:00am and said he would be out in 30 to 45 minutes. He arrived as promised and was very courteous. After spending almost 2 hours he told me the furnace was fixed and even showed me a photograph showing a drain line clogged with some pvc. He then made several recommendations including a furnace-mounted photo-electric device that would detect and destroy allergens. My wife and I both suffer from allergies so I really appreciated the recommendation. He also recommended protective covers for my outside air conditioner units and gave me a suggestion on re-routing the hot water stack to make the indoor air more heatlhy. Overall it was a very pleasant experience with several useful recommendations. I might add that Marshall was highly professional appeared equipped with all of the required safety gear. As a Certified Safety Professional I certainly appreciated all of the attention to detail plus the recommendations to improve my family's quality of life.

Four Seasons came out to inspect my furnace. As it had started acting strange by attempting to start up, but not fully running through a heating cycle. A diagnosis really could not be determined by the first technician, he requested a second to come out and try. A second technician did come by a little while later. He too could not come up with the problem. The furnace did demonstrate the behavior for both technicians. But outside of saying either replacing the system, or the thermostat, they could not say what would fix the problem. And replacing the thermostat was only a guess, by the second technician. The service call was going to be $85. I knew that up front and was fine with it. The first technician upon leaving swiped my credit card, I signed the screen on his phone, and everything seemed to be done, as far as paying for the service call. In December I was contacted by a collection agency for the $85. No other contact was attempted, to my knowledge by Four Seasons. Upon the call from the collection agency, and being informed it was from Four Seasons. I called Four Seasons, they explained that the first technician accidentally cancelled the transaction at some point. So they never received payment. I asked why they never called to ask me to take care of it. The woman I talked to from accounting, said that they had sent out 2 letter, I didn't receive any letters. I paid her over the phone. She mailed me a paid in full receipt. And told me that she would remove the claim from the collection agency. And that she would have someone from their corporate customer service department call me. And maybe be able to not charge me, since there was no diagnosis of the issue, and since it was a problem with their technician canceling the transaction. She informed me that at that time the technicians were new to the payment system, and the technician probably just made a mistake since it was new. And that they had better training now. In the end I have never gotten a call from a customer service representative. And more than a month after making my payment and receiving a paid in full receipt, I still am being contacted by their collection agency. I would recommend that anyone using this company demand a paid in full receipt be handed to them at the time of service. Otherwise I feel they will cause you nightmares, and ignore you as a customer.

My 26 year old hot water boiler decided to die on me at about 2:30 AM on a 10 degree night. Needing a 24 hour heating company, I consulted Angie's List and found that Four Seasons was highly rated. My friend also used them one year ago to install a new forced air furnace and was pleased. They have excellent, kind, patient customer service. They had a tech out to my home within a few hours. He was able to quickly diagnose the problem which was going to require a $900.00 part & repair. Rather than pour that much money into a 26 year boiler, I decided to take the plunge and hire Four Seasons to replace the whole system at their recommendation. It took a crew of two men over eight hours to remove and replace my boiler system. It was a very expensive job ($4,965.00) but necessary. I now have peace of mind knowing I have a reliable, safe, more efficient boiler to keep my home warm. I'm already noticing that the radiators are getting hotter and heating my home better than ever before. Every single person I have dealt with at Four Seasons has been extremely professional, considerate, and helpful. The techs were very clean and left the work area spotless. They were helpful and patiently answered all questions and concerns I had. Being confronted with an unexpected $5,000 repair is very stressful, but Four Seasons made it as positive an experience as can be. I will be using Four Seasons in the future to maintain and service my boiler and air-conditioning system. I highly recommend them as they conduct their business in an extremely professional, reliable, and fair manner.

I was looking to hire a company for a biannual maintenance of two roof top HVAC units for a commercial property, so I contacted Four Seasons to coordinate a time when my tenant is open for business, the winter weather is cooperating for a roof top maintenance work, and my husband would be able to meet the technician. On the date of scheduled maintenance, my husband waits all afternoon at the commercial property for the technician and receives a call informing him to reschedule because the technician does not have a ladder to climb a one story rooftop. Although frustrated because I had made it very clear to Four Seasons that the HVAC units were on a roof top of one story building, we decided to give the company one more chance after speaking to its customer representative. The next morning, my husband meets the technician who is very rude and appears to dislike being asked questions. The technician does not allow my husband to use his ladder, thus, effectively barring my husband from accompanying him on the roof top. He, then, informs my husband that 8 filters need to be replaced. When asked how much it would cost to replace the filters, the technician informs my husband that it would cost $285. When my husband asks the technician for a break down of the costs, the technician informs my husband that if we have the new filters available, then he would install them for free; however, since we don't have the filters available, it would cost $285 to replace the filters. Upon searching and finding that the filters only cost about $5 each (or about $40 for 8 filters) online, my husband again asks the technician for a breakdown of the cost of replacing the filters - why he is being charged $285 for something that should only cost about $40 since installation is free if performed that day. The technician refuses to discuss the matter further. I am very disappointed with the lack of information and explanation offered by the technician of Four Seasons HVAC and the exorbitant price ($285) charged for replacing 8 filters that cost only about $40 online. UPDATE: After the maintenance, on one of the coldest days in February, there was no heat in the commercial building. When I called the customer service, they quickly sent out a technician for an emergency visit. In light of their response, I'm revising my opinion of the company and will use them again for biannual maintenance.

Stanley and his coworker, Ruben, showed up exactly at 8:30. They got started and didn't stop until around 8:00 PM. The work included removing the old furnace from a rather tight area in the basement and they completed it without a problem. Stanley was a skilled sheet metal guy and I've had work done on several homes I've owned in the past and he was by far the most talented I've seen. His finished work didn't have a sharp edge or burr anywhere. They completely cleaned up and there was not a scrap left inside or out. Since installation, furnace has worked as advertised. Only downside, and it's minor, is that during the estimate process, seemed a little bit of a hassle . We knew what we wanted and didn't move from that, so once we got past that it was very good service. Price was a little high, but they have good range of furnaces and AC units available. For the service you get, worth the extra dollars if you can swing it.

External fan unit was no longer working. When I called for an appointment, they were very responsive and did respond same day. They also honored the Angie's list coupon. Our technician was excellent and allowed me to look over his shoulder and took the time to explain what he was doing and why. He shared with me the problem and illustrated the part. While the part was expensive, which is certainly frustrating, it was beyond his control. He was extremely professional and thorough in his assessment, from my perspective, repaired the part efficiently and had the system back up and running. He also checked on a few other items as well. For this, I agreed to a service plan which knocked the price down a bit further and helped him out with a bit of commission. Now I need to follow up on using the service plan.

Tech was polite and arrived at beginning of four hour window. He covered his shoes to protect the floor as expected. Went directly to work when he arrived. He evaluated the functioning of my furnace. He was knowledgeable about the functioning of the furnace and zoned heating which is what I have in my home. He performed a thorough review of the furnace and thermostat and corrected the problem that was discovered. He left with giving some preventive education on measures which would help to save me money in the future.

Excellent work. Get your duct work cleaned before new furnace installation.
Description of Work: Four Seasons, 5701 W 73rd St, Chicago, IL, came in to quote new Furnace installation along with full Duct Work cleaning. Of 4 possible companies, Four Seasons came in with best quote in features and pricing. Then they came in to preform the duct cleaning. Both of the gentlemen were very professional in their work. Thorough, quick, and kept the house clean during the work. I was most impressed with their approach, explaining every step and showing me the results of the cleaning effort. The entire system was cleaned out. I would highly recommend them. My cost was $ 599. Well worth it. Then another crew came in the next day on time and removed my 21 year old furnace and replaced it with a new Lennox one. During the process, they inspected the entire chimney duct work and found some cracks in the sheet metal caused over time. They replaced it at no cost. Most impressive. The new furnace was installed and it is performing the job better than expected. Quiet, thorough and efficient. Cleaning the duct work before the new furnace was installed was a good move. Well worth it. I would highly recommend Four Seasons to anyone and will contract them to service my HVAC in the future.

Overall the experience was positive. I would definately use the services of Four Seasons again.
Description of Work: The heat went out unexpectedly in our two flat. It was Sunday morning. Four Seasons answered the call promptly and sent out a technician within 4 hours. The technician found a bad spark module $650 and a bad relief valve $243 and performed a tune up $90. The process took about 6 hours but the technician had to spend 1 1/2 hour picking up one of the parts. We had to bleed all the radiators in both apartments after the installation of new parts. It was a positive experience but the next morning, Monday, the heat was out again. Four Seasons sent another tech out and was able to restart the furnace not really sure why it went out. There was no charge for the second call and the heat has been fine since that call.

We have no record of the customer in any of our records. These guys are great! I had a four hour appointment window. I got a call 30 minutes before the start of the window saying they would arrive in one hour, which the service person did. I agreed with his assessment of the situation because of the age of my current unit. I was lucky to get 10 years out of the thing considering was already so old when I bought my place in 2002. I was very surprised that they said they could have a new unit installed that afternoon. He serviceman advised a less expensive unit because it only has to heat about 700 square feet and they gave a decent discount for finding them on Angie's List. The installers arrived exactly when promised and started the work. It took several hours - a bit of a surprise to me but then again I guess this is a fairly complicated install since it was in an attic crawl space. Of course, I'd rather they do a good detailed job than rush it. The furnace is in and working well! It is so much quieter than the old stone-age one and I expect my heating bills to be lower due to the smaller size and better efficiency. They even called the house today to ask how it was working! All in all - this has been a great customer experience. I will be calling Four Seasons for all of my heating work going forward!
Description of Work: This was an emergency call for an ancient gas forced-air furnace that was putting out a nasty burning smell. The situation was assessed, it was determined that the air blower was shot (which I kinda already knew because it was sounding 'weak' the last few months). The recommendation was to put in a new furnace because a replacement blower would not have been worth the cost for such an old furnace (30+years). Because I have been waiting for the day that furnace fails, I had them bring and install a new furnace.
