The plumber came out and told me he would redo the piping and also noticed that the vent on my water heater was not straight and said he would reposition that and screw it in place for free. Then he wrote me a quote for $606.00 which I thought was high for the repair. After offering a couple discounts, I agreed to $511.00 that I still was not happy with. Then he asked if I wanted it done today. If I didn't want it done today, I wouldn't had called. Well he said he didn't have time to do it today and started to call around for someone to do it. First guy said no and then he said there was another tech about 15 minutes away who could do it. He goes out to his truck and comes back with a piece of tape and tapes my water heater vent in one spot and said thats done. This is not what he said he was going to do. Then he said the tech is in Glen Ellyn . I said how soon will he be here and he said about a half hour and then he said he will call you when he is on his way. At this point, unhappy with the price, unhappy with the way he fixed my water heater vent, and just the whole attuitude of this guy, I told him forget it. All the time he spend on the phone trying to find someone to do this simple job, he could have had it done. Why do they send a plumber if he has no time to do the work? So Now I had another certified plumber come and do the work. He quoted me a price of $185 only repairing the parts that needed to be repaired and not doing a bunch of unnecessary work. Guess what, he was able to do it immedately and did not have to make 10 phone calls to find someone to do it. As far as I am concern, I think Four Seasons should refund me the $85 that they charged me to have someone come out and waste my time

Response from Four Seasons Heating & Air Conditioning
Four Seasons’ Plumbing and Sewer had an appointment of Friday 9/13/13 for a client in Carol Stream. Arrival was between 1-3PM to assess the issue in regards to copper pipes leaking. Four Seasons’ dispatched a plumber to assess the situation they arrived at 1:51PM and spent just under (1) one hour assessing the situation, recommending necessary repairs, and quoting the customer a price. Client declined the recommended plumbing work to be done at a price of $606.00 however the Four Seasons’ was able to offer the a few discounts since they had previously been customers with Four Seasons Heating and Air Conditioning. Customer did agree to get the copper work done at a price of $511.00. Our Plumber phoned into the office, to see when we would be able to get a plumber to the home to do the repairs as the client was looking for same day repairs. The dispatch office had a plumber approximately 15-20 minutes from the client’s location, according to our GPS tracking system. Four Seasons’ made arrangements to dispatch that plumber. Once the client learned that our assessing plumber would not immediately begin to do the work, and that he would be waiting 15-20 minutes to have a repair/install plumber arrive, the customer declined to have the work performed. The managing officer on duty immediately phoned the customer, asking if there was anything that we could do to rectify the situation. Customer stated he did not want to wait, and wondered as to why our plumber in the home could not do it…. Our manager stated that we have scheduled appointments, and we schedule according to area, and job type, we also reassured him that we discounted the price, and we would be there in 15-20 minutes. Customer refused to seek a resolution, and hung up on our supervisor. Four Seasons charges an $85.00 service fee for assessments on plumbing related issues (diagnosis) in the home, in this instance we did not charge the customer any money for coming out to the home and offering a solution to the problem. Four Seasons offered same day service; Four Seasons’ discounted the services to meet the customer’s budget, and Four Seasons’ called the customer to assure the repairs could be done in short time. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience that we caused.

fUltimately, with a few speed bumps, the whole job went surprisingly well. I want to specially single out Miguel who did about 90% of the work on the project despite having a "helper" who hindered him more than helped him. Miguel was just awesome. Shortly after three guys showed up the first morning early, they were called off my job to work on an "emergency". That left Miguel to do all the work. Miguel always showed up early and he personally cleaned up everything. I did discover there was an easier way to run the new electric and pipe that drained the A/C condensation up to the attic sort of half-way through the project, and if it had been done this way to begin with it would have probably saved me around $2K on the install. That is why I'm giving them a B for price. I don't hesitate to recommend them, but I would advise any homeowner who is installing something new that needs electrical, etc., to get someone to look at their situation who knows how houses were built at the turn of the century - they might be able to find a better way to run electric and pipe. I'm going to be using them again soon to replace the 15 year old furnace and central A/C that take care of the first floor.
Description of Work: Installed a new furnace and central A/C to zone my second floor, and put in new duct work to supply second floor. Included all electrical work from basement to attic, condensate pipes, etc.

It went smoothly the technicians were scary looking but looks can be deceiving. They were scheduled to show up between 8-11am and were here by 8:15 and were professional and answered my questions. It took about 8 hours to finish the job. They cleaned up ok. It's been a few days now and everything is running well. I am happy with the purchase and selection of this company.

Four Seasons was able to setup an immediate appointment (same day if needed) and I chose for them to come the following morning. Customer Service and response is A+. The repairman provided up front estimates for repairs and the repairs were completed quickly and matched estimates. Price seemed a little higher (big markup on labor), but the repairs were done quickly and A/C is working again. They also recommended replacing the furnace rather than fixing/replacing heat exchanger. Estimates seem to be in line with other companies.
Description of Work: Replaced the motherboard for A/C unit and capacitor. Recommended new furnace since heat exchanger.

I had spoken with several people about heating and air and several friends suggested Four Seasons. I also spoke with Permaseal, who will be working on my basement, and they mentioned Four Seasons as well. So, I gave them a call. I was all set to have a 96% efficiency furnace put in, but It turned out that it would not have been up to code due to window placement in my home. So apparently there was some miscommunication on their part, but they sent out for an 80% unit which they still put in on the same day. The guys were very pleasant and provided instructions on the thermostat and changing the filters. I thought they did a decent job and were here from 8am to 7pm to make sure they got the job done. They had gotten a permit from the village where I live for the installation, and an inspector came out to from the village to inspect their work. He said they did a good job, and put his seal of approval on it.

From the first phone call to the end of the job - it was a very pleasant experience dealing with Four Season's. They were very accomodating - gave me "same-day" service to repair an AC unit for my eldery Father. The technican, Bill, took the time to explain the repairs to my Dad so he felt like he was part of the process. In fact, my Dad even shook Bill's hand when he was leaving and said it was a pleasure to meet him (he never does that :)). I highly recommend them and will for sure use them again. Paula G

They are an A plus. The sales rep took the time to explain what he thought we needed and why we needed it. Their price was very competitive and better than the other bid. They came and installed it when they said they were going to. They did the job and cleaned up afterwards and everything was fine. We'll probably use them for maintenance.

The serviceman was very professional, clean and thorough. I was very satisfied. The only thing I have to say negatively, is that the window you give for the serviceman to arrive is much too long, mine was from one to six. That takes up too much of my day. Any other provider I use gives a two to three hour window.

Went well..smooth, efficient. Showed up on time. Friendly. Professional. Installers did not lay down any tarp to collect debris accumulating on basement floor from their work. Did not clean up debris; I had to use my own vacuum to clean up the floor and pick up any larger loose items. I wish that part was better about the install. I will use them for the regular maintenance for my A/C and would recommend to anyone. I would not hesitate to contact them. You will be pleased.

I had a negative experience with Four Seasons. Four Seasons is a unethical company. Four Seasons advertises that they can beat any competitors price up to $500. Well i provided FOur Seasons a copy of the lower Price quote from a different company and they refused to honor it. This made me upset as they do not stand by their slogan that they beat any competitiors price up to $500. Unfortuantley, the weather was so hot that we needed an AC quick, so we decided to go with Four Season for this only reason. Recently, I turned on my new AC for the first time after the installation, and it did not want to turn on. I contacted Four Seasons and the customer service rep did not want to send someone out to fix the problem. They wanted to charge me a $89 service charge which is ridiculous. The unit is new and I should not have to pay anything. I threaten to contact my credit card company to stop payment until problem is resolved. I do not recommend this company for any service whatsoever.

Bob, the sales guy, came out for half an hour at the most. He was late (which is maybe why he rushed the visit). He gave me a couple brochures and asked if he could e-mail me the bid information later that night. I never heard from him again. Needless to say, I went with a different company for my A/C install.

This is a revision, adder and correction to my June 11, 2013 review (which was written by an Angie's list person when I called them about another item), that I incorrectly gave an overall grade of F. Shortly after the review appeared, a social media person reached out to me by phone, to see if I could revise my grade upward, with the inducement to extend the years of the free inspections that was included in the original purchase. For the installation process, 2 visits plus about 3 more to fix the errors, I can only keep it at an F. For the repairs and periodic, 2 per year, 5 so far inspection/cleanings, I can give a B+, for an overall grade of C. The details: The salesperson showed us an upper-level thermostat, we got a cheapo. I asked for and got a better (much better) unit. The installers incorrectly wired the existing 2 duct boosters which burned out the existing speed controller. I had to lead them through the debug then for the correct wiring to a replacement that I had bought. A few days later, the UV filter lights went intermittent, which was promptly replaced. They melted shut the drain of the existing humidifier by incorrectly aiming their blowtorch while sweating the copper lines. Although I had drilled out the melted plastic and epoxied it, they replaced it with a new, even better one. They incorrectly glued the 4 inch plastic exhaust pipe in 2 places such that water leaked onto a wall, damaging the paint and drywall. I called them about 11:30 Friday night, was told no one was available to come out, so I taped a piece of plastic shaped into a funnel, directing the dripping down into a tall waste bucket on the floor, until a visit did happen. The repair was done very well, with top quality paint, and went to the end of the (short) length of the wall since it was not a close match to the off-white. About a half year later, I saw a good sized puddle of water at the furnace, found to be an incorrectly glued condensate drain pipe, which I duct-taped back in. The next inspection visit tech glued it back even though the tape kept it secure. There was dripping water into the top of the furnace due to incorrect application of the foam insulating tubes over the copper piping; another inspection visit tech fixed this plus a few other minor things. As can be seen, the installers were abysmal, the claimed 24/7/365 service wasn't, each visit entails a 5 hour window, but the repair efforts were very good, the inspection visit techs were good and could have been perfect it the first, maybe second visit would have gotten everything fixed up. I have some confidence now, two and a half years later, that no more gluing failures will occur (?). One can only hope that all of the installers now are up to the task.
Description of Work: Originally installed a furnace, air conditioner, UV filter, wide pleated air cleaner, then various repairs and replacements due to install problems.

Had a great experience...had to call on short notice, he was in the area and so fit the service in. Very professional, courteous. Particularly nice part of the job was that he had to remove and install a motor around a water heater which was in front of the unit, in a very small space. He worked around the water heater without removing it, saving additional time and cost. Would definitely recommend, and will use in the future.

This is a review of Four Seasons but also kind of Angie's List. I signed up for Angie's List last week to see what all the ads were about and whether it really was valuable. I searched for AC repair services, including the ones with coupons and specials. Most of them were either not available anytime soon or unresponsive. It seems to me Angie's List is not much more than a phone book with a few reviewers..... That said, Four Seasons was showing at the top of the list and I had used them before, so at least the site served as a reminder for me. As usual, Four Seasons was easy to book, available when I needed them, and professional. They did the check within a reasonable time, and I trusted their technician. As usual, they were a bit more expensive than the others but they show up and are dependable, so I would highly recommend them. The annoying part is that I paid Angie's List and really should have just looked at my old receipts and called them in the firts place.

[Note: I upgraded this review and downgraded my service to a D. The reason for this downgrade is that after receiving second opinions from those in the know I have since some to learn that examining AC units for leaks is a relatively straight forward process for which MOST technicians take ~1hr and charge +/- $100 versus the ~$800 quote I received.] The service technician delivered little more than a sales pitch following my service appointment, going so far as to tell me that "out of a courtesy I checked the units next to yours." This is strange. I called about service for my condo, but you checked the AC units around my condo to provide me quotes for fixing those as well? Added to this, the technician informed me that for a new unit to need a recharge suggested there "may be a leak. To confirm whether there is a leak or no would require an extensive search [which he recommended] and cost ~$785". Ok, fair enough. But the technician did absolutely no due diligence to determine whether the unit was under warranty...whether said warranty would cover the work proposed, etc. It is troubling that every assumption made by the technician--that I might also own other units in the condo building (which I don't)....that my unit isn't under warranty (which it is)...or that the warranty wouldn't cover the work because of a lack of service history (which it would be cause I have that service history), etc.--were all seemingly designed to get me to commit to an $800 hunt for problems...or to fix units which were not under the scope of his work to begin with.

I thought the technician was good and thorough. However, there were a lot of issues that will need to be addressed in the future so i was asked if I would like to purchase a new unit. I initially felt pressured to do either the repairs or replacement, but ultimately decided that I would wait until it HAD to be done. Since my unit is almost 12 years old, I expect it will need to be replaced sometime in the near future but it is a huge expense, so I am going to get the most out of it while it lasts.

This unit was installed last year and we used it no more than a handful of times. It performed well. Fast forward less than one year later we turned the unit on and it just wouldn't get cool in our home. We called Four Seasons out and said we thought someone should check the unlit as it was just around a year later since purchase and shouldn't have this issue already. An appointment date and time was set and the repair guy came out said it was low on freon and some would be added for a charge. Our immediate response was why do I have to pay on a unit that is literally a year old and by the way why is it leaking? We were told he'd call the office to see what they said and would come back. Surprise! He returns tells us he'll make the repair by way of adding freon and we should just monitor the situation.....What? I paid you over 3k for a unit and just a year later we already have problems? (Not to mention after the repair man left we also found he left a mess and tore off the foam covers on some of the piping and didn't replace it). We quickly called and asked for the foam covering to be replaced and wanted assurances any future problems would be covered under our warranty. A repair man came out today to take care of that but also indicated the issue with freon leakage is a problem with this unit Four Seasons is well aware of and had had experience with. They have apparently negotiated with the manufacturer on this matter and he would make a note on our account. My question is if they knew this why didn't they contact us as soon as they were aware and do a check on the unit? Why when we called didn't they immediately say something about this possibility? This was really poorly handled. I'm not sure if I'd use them again or recommend them to any one else. [UPDATE 9/4/13]: Since my previous review. Four Seasons contacted us and offered to make good on the unit. They were unable to determine if the unit is leaking or if the original installer didn't add enough coolant thus the missing amount when we turned it on this year. They also offered two free unit cleanings for our trouble. The only complaint I have is it was originally difficult to get them to give us some written assurances they would take responsibility if there was a problem found with the unit and when the repairmen came out on both occasions they were incredibly late--like hours past the agreed upon repair window. In fact one didn't arrive until 5pm and was at our home close to 10pm! It appears posting on Angie's List was a "motivating" factor on their outreach so I'm glad we were able to get a response and outcome that was to our satisfaction.
Description of Work: Installed a new air conditioner unit in my duplex.

This service was on rental property that I own out of state. the furnace was not working on a weekend (don't all furnaces breakdown on the weekend? ) The dispatched a technician on a Sunday evening who arrived as promised and quickly diagnosed the problem. They were able to schedule the repair for the next day and coordinated between myself as the customer and the tenant. The price was a little high but not extraordinary considering the prompt response. The day after the repair, the tenant reported that the furnace was either not working again or still not working. I called and they dispatched someone out immediately. Initially I was told there would be a service call charged for the service but I protested and the charge was removed. It was unclear to me if additional work was required or not but there was no charge for the additional service and no additional complaints from the tenants. I have used 4 seasons in the past to do a full house system replacement on another investment property. They were the low bid and did the work in a timely manner. The duct work was done with flex duct instead of sheet metal which lowered the price and was adequate for this application in a starter home. I would hire them again and recommend them to neighbors and friends.
