It went extremely well. The Unit was locked out on low flame sensor. The technician Cleaned flame sensor, cleaned filter, screens and tested system on and off. Everything working fine. Very knowledgeable young man. Thank you Angie

When I came home from work, our furnace suddenly made a horrible noise and started to smell like smoke. Since Four Seasons was at our neighbor's house earlier this week, their name popped into my mind immediately. I looked them up on Angie's List, and after discovering their great rating, I called them immediately. The scheduler was polite and professional. She arranged for a technician to come to our house right away, gave us a four-hour window, explained that they don't charge an emergency call fee, and said the technician would call when he was on his way. Matt, the technician, called when he was 15 minutes away. He arrived when he said he would. He was polite and respectful of our home. Matt listened to my story and theory. Within a couple minutes, my theory was proven correct. Luckily, it was a quick repair. He then offered to clean and check our system, and I asked him to look at our humidifier as well. Within an hour, he had everything done and in working order. Overall, it was great service--very professional. We will hire them again.

The initial call to them to schedule the job was over a month ago. The first scheduled visit time was rescheduled for three weeks later after they called and said they were very busy and had some heating emergencies. That was OK; we were getting heat alright and we certainly will get in line behind others who aren't. But they called a second time to request a new visit date and I complained saying we'd already been postponed. They said they were unaware that we'd been postponed once already. So the cleaning visit was set for today (2/6/14). A technician (Joe) arrived but unfortunately he was the wrong person for the job; he did not work on large boilers such as ours. He said that he'd been asked to come over because he was in the neighborhood doing some other job. So Four Seasons apparently lost track of the information about our large boiler I supplied on the first call. (They have serviced the same boiler in the past and it went OK then.) But now the real trouble began. I mentioned to Joe that our units were experiencing uneven heat, saying that over the years some units that used to be hot seemed to be getting less heat and other units that were cooler seemed to be getting more. I wondered if some of the steam flow pipes going up from our basement were partially off, but I made clear that we were doing OK. However, I was told that I had to reschedule again. Joe had apparently reported that we had a problem that needed a service call rather than a cleaning. When I called to ask that the job be rescheduled and handled by a qualified large-boiler technician, I was told that because a "problem" was reported that there was no choice for me but to schedule a service (not a cleaning) call because "we can't clean if there is a problem and the technician reported that you said you had a problem." I can understand a policy of not doing routine maintenance if something is seriously wrong, but try as I might to explain what had taken place, I could get nowhere with the woman who took my call nor could the customer relations person help either except to say "call tomorrow" when the big-boiler technician is here and maybe something could be scheduled. This outcome was the best I could get after long periods on hold and an rigid insistence that I was off-base, perhaps at fault, and out-of-line to insist on rescheduling the cleaning they failed to provide. If the company answers this they will undoubtedly say that "no cleaning when there is a problem" is their hard-and-fast procedure and "we were told the by the technician that the customer reported a problem." It is hard to conclude that this was anything much better than a rude run-around however, when try as I might I couldn't explain what happened. I mentioned the "uneven heating" issue because we are all sensitive to the heat our radiators put out and we know from talking with one-another that some areas of our various units are better heated than others and even (as I said) over the years there seem to be shifts in radiator performance. It is a 100-year old building and we do not have individual unit thermostats. Watch out for these people and suggest that it is a "perfect world" when you ask for a visit to clean your heating equipment. Maintain the "perfect world" story even if the wrong technician shows up.
Description of Work: After sending the wrong technician to clean/maintain our 6-unit condo building boiler I encountered frustrating, discourteous responses to reschedule.

The big deal was for 54% off. I did run into a bit of a problem where I was told that I needed a part replaced. It was replaced, and then it turned out that wasn’t the problem at all. They bought in another technician who determined what the actual problem was and fixed that. Other than that glitch, which was resulted in multiple appointments, everything went fine. They said that they misidentified it at first. They said that I needed this certain thing, and I paid to have that replaced. Then again they said that wasn’t it because it was still doing the same problem he had detected. That was another appointment that I had to make to get somebody else to come out to determine what the actual problem was and so on and so forth. They applied what I had paid to the eventual repair, but they didn’t give me any discount. The ending resolution was fine; I was satisfied. They didn't correctly identify the problem to begin with. They owned up to their mistake immediately.

This review is for the gentleman that installed the system and he was not very helpful. The technician that came out for the repair later was professional, helpful and deserves staright A’s. He explained everything that was wrong, helped us operate the thermostat and also explained how to fix the vents in order to heat/cool all 3 levels of our townhome.
Description of Work: The city of Aurora requires an inspection with the installation of a new system. Four seasons made arrangements with the building inspectors to come do this inspection. I took off work for this appointment and no one showed up. I called Four Seasons and got the number for the building inspectors. It turns out, I was not even on the appointment list for the building inspectors to come out. I had to take another day off work for the actual inspection. I was told that Four Seasons is not a good company and they take 3 hours longer to install than other companies. When doing the work, they also placed a heating tool on my vinyl flooring and melted the tile. A coil came loose later on the unit about a month after the installation. We were without 90 degree weather for a day.

I realized one of the water pipes in my upstairs bathroom was frozen- no water coming out. The other sinks/tub were fine. I called Four Seasons for an appointment based on Angie's List, and was able to get someone that afternoon! (I was thrilled!) He came out as promised during the 4 hour window of time they said. He checked and found out that the pipe had defrosted by then. He then checked every sink and shower/tub in the house, including the basement. He patiently answered our questions on how to prevent this from happening in the future. It was reassuring to have it all checked. It was great to have someone able to look at all of the other water pipes in the house just to be sure it was ok. I will be calling them for future work.

I was in the process of getting estimates to remove an old furnace and replace with a new one in a residential home. I saw that Four Seasons had good reviews on Angie's list, so they were among the contractors I called out for an estimate. The estimator who came out had a terrible attitude and was not willing to explain details of the installation procedure or details of the different furnace units available. I was at work at the time, so I arranged for my neighbor to let him in to scope out the old furnace and to collect info from the estimator. He gave very short one word answers. The estimator didn't want to discuss it with my neighbor, and his body language conveyed a negative attitude, keeping his hands in his pocket as if he refused to do his work. I called while he was there and asked him to go describe the estimate and/or installation options over the phone, but he refused to and said that I had to be there in person. He did mention several rebates including a dealer rebate that was ending at the end of this month (which was only two weeks away), so we would have to schedule an installation quickly in order to get the deal. I asked if there were deals the following month, but he said he didn't know and that I'd have to call back in a week or two when he would know better. I find it hard to believe that he wouldn't know of deals that are about to be available only two weeks from now. It seemed like it was a sales tactic or he wasn't being up front with the pricing. Overall, due to the poor attitude and lack of an attempt to explain the estimate and details of purchasing/installing a new furnace we are NOT hiring this company.

My furnace went off around 3:00 a.m. in the morning today 1/24/2014 in one of the coldest days of this brutal Chicago winter in the 2013-2014 season and the cold is still not over yet. As my mom, our Shih Tzu and I were sitting in the cold I was looking for a 24 hour emergency heating and cooling company to call and naturally since I am an Angie's List customer I went through their list and found Four Seasons Heating and Cooling. When I called, I spoke to a live person at 3:40 a.m. in the morning, which was wonderful. I did not have to leave a message and wait for a call back. They gave me a window between 8:00 am and 12:00 p.m. for someone to come out, because they were so busy. The technician Joe Neal came around 9:00 a.m. and I was so glad to se him. He went down in my basement and diagnosed the problem right away, which was that a sensor had gone out and had to be replaced. I got a 15% discount off of the cost of the part being an Angie's List member and he replaced the sensor and slowly but surely the house began to warm up. Joe Neal was very nice and knowledgeable and I even through their $25.00 coupon cost yearly over the next five years for quality cleaning and check for yearly maintenance. I would definitely recommend Four Seasons Heating and Cooling.

My home is a small 2-bedroom condo. The repair man found a carbon monoxide leak and recommended a new furnace immediately that night. No meter reading was involved to indicate a leak. He suggested 3 models and said he could call their installers to do the job right then so I would be safe. .Because of my concern about the dangers of carbon monoxide and the 22 degrees temp outside, I hesitantly agreed., There was no chance to get other bids or opinions. An 80% efficiency Lennox furnace was installed immediately along with a humidifier at a cost of $5100. After calling Nicor later, I found that my furnace did not qualify for a rebate either. After later research, I found the price too high and the advice given insufficient. I contacted Four Seasons Customer Service to explore resolution in this matter. They were very polite and understanding. They worked with me to reach a mutually agreeable solution of a monetary rebate. Their expert assistance was valuable and much appreciated in turning our relationship around.

Problem #1: Main floor furnace stopped working. For the past few years, I have had Four Seasons provide maintenance service to my HVAC systems. The most recent visit was on Halloween where they informed me that I needed a new, pricey part on the actual furnace that ended up broking down (which I paid). My furnace broke down on Tues morning (2nd coldest day of year) and I called them immediately to get someone out here. The "earliest" they could get to me was Friday morning. And, according to their service agreements, if you are an active customer, you're supposed to get priority service. Needless to say, I was fortunate to find another HVAC company (Besco) who was not only able to get to me the next day, but took the time to try and troubleshoot with me on the phone. Four Seasons has lost an HVAC customer. Problem #2: Burst water pipe in my basement. Due in part to the furnace not working, I had a water pipe freeze and burst on that Weds night. I immediately called Four Seasons and they literally refused to even put me on a waiting list of service calls. Their response was "sorry, but we'll send you a coupon for a future service". There will be no future service with them. Fortunately, my plumber (Vanguard) was able to get to me the following afternoon and address the issue. While I acknowledge that the freezing temps caused a lot of problems throughout the area, the fact that an active customer could not even get on a waiting list for service is ridiculous.

These people were probably criminals, and because of this experience we have decided we cannot rely upon Angie's List. The Four Seasons "Furnace repair people" came to our house several years ago after we purchased an Angie's List deal, and shut down our furnace, claiming the plenum was cracked, a serious problem that would cost $1000s to repair. My wife was suspicious and called a local repair company which said the furnace was fine, needed some cleaning and adjustment, and charged us a fair fee. I think your company supports criminal activity and your supposed "rating" of the vendors who use Angie's List is a crock - you take money from any crook that wants to use your services. By the way, I complained about this incident when it occurred and received NO FOLLOW UP WHATSOEVER from your company. Angie is a fraud and gets an F rating around here.

The tech was very polite and explained the situation. He let me know that he could fix the problem, but also let me know that due to the installation of the furnace the same thing will evenutally happen again. He said he would clean out my unit to get it working, but that another tech would have to come and reinstall the broken part as this guy didn't have it on his truck. Luckily, they were able to send another tech out that same day to fix the problem. A bit bummed that it didn't get fixed in one go, and it was a pretty pricey repair. Total, it ended up being around $650 for the whole thing. I still would definitely use Four Seasons again, they are punctual and friendly, and seem to have a great range of availability.
Description of Work: I woke up to 57 degree weather in my condo, when the thermostat was set to 67. Not good! I called Four Seasons (as I had used them previously) and they were able to send someone that morning. Upon arrival, the tech went right to work and informed me that whoever had installed my furnace "didn't do me any favors". The way it was installed allowed the unit to overheat. The good news is that it was fixable, but that it would also happen again if my furnace isn't monitored.

I wish this company could be rated beyond 10. From the very 1st call for emergency repairs at 8pm(at which time I was offered help for that night from 9:4pm5-1:45am, I knew I had made the right choice. Every single phone call was handled to perfection. T The Technician arrived right on time, diagnosed a problem with the furnace that could not be repaired and scheduled a new one for instilation the next day. This saga was handled on a Sunday with no extra charge for the weekend day or time. This buidiing is under an American Home Shield Warranty and required many, many calls to and from them, long wait times, call backs to me, the technician and an escalation to supervisory personnel. At each level and with each person I spoke with, I was given a caring attitude and felt very reassured that helping me was of great concern. As my case moved through the chain of command, at each point information was well documented and I felt very well informed. I am just flabergasted to find any company, in any industry, that has such competent protocol 24/7 7days a week. I most assuredly encourage anyone to use this company. It was sort of the American dream to watch their business in motion. As a business owner of over 22 years, I would strive for this kind of customer service. Is it possible to say, that having a furnace go out in Chicago, when the coldest temps in 20 years were approaching, was something that put a smile on my face. It is kind of like the book, "The Little Engine That Could". nothing stops thiscompany from doing thier best. Thank you for a job well done! Sue Johnson

I called Four Seasons for a quote on a High Recovery (50,000 BTU), 50-gal, Bradford White hot water heater. They quoted $1350 for the water heater, installed, plus $100 for the repair (replacement) of two (existing) leaking solder joints. On the morning of the scheduled installation, they called and informed me that they were out of stock of the Bradford White heater I had been quoted, but offered me a comparable Rheem for the same price. The offered to knock $100 off the price for my inconvenience. After doing my due diligence on this model, I called them back to confirm that it was also a high-recovery (50,000 BTU) unit. After consulting with an expert, they informed me that it was not the high-recovery model, that the Bradford White they originally quoted was not the high-recovery either, and that it would be "several hundred dollars more" for a high-recovery unit. They again knocked $100 off the price for the inconvenience. In the end, I got a high-quality, no-frills, heater installed for what I think is an OK price, however Four Seasons needs to improve its communications. If the salesman doesn't know what a high-recovery model is, he shouldn't be quoting one, and don't wait until the day of installation (which I took off work for, for this event), to inform the customer that the promised unit is out of stock. It ended OK, but I probably won't use them again. Update (12/31/13) Four Seasons has reached out to me regarding the issues described above. They have expressed true remorse for the misunderstandings, and have made efforts to make the situation right. Update (9/1/14) When Four Seasons reached out to me (see 12/31/13 update), they offered 2 free services of my furnace and/or AC to make up for the issue that is the subject of this review. They told me to watch for 2 certificates in the mail. Well, it seems they cannot follow through on any promises right... 4 seasons, don't bother calling me again. You blew it.
Description of Work: Install new hot water heater and replace 2 leaking solder joints.

It was determined the heat exchanger was cracked and the unit was dangerous to run. We selected a high efficiency model and the work was started the next day. They worked all day beginning around 8 am one team installed the unit. Around 4 pm they passed off the job to another team to complete the new ventilation system. They worked until 1 am to complete the job. We have had Four Seasons out over the past three years to clean the unit. The first year a control board needed to be replaced.
