I called Eric at Crystal Door Inc. to repair my garage door which would not close all the way. He was polite and professional, and scheduled an appointment for the next business day (I called on New Year's Eve day). When asking about the problem he suggested I confirm the sensors were aligned, and also spray some WD-40 on the tracks it worked! My garage door is working fine. No cost to me, no profit to Crystal Door Inc. except a lot of goodwill. I'd use them and recommend them to friends. Also, I called another garage door company before Crystal Door Inc. By the time they got back to me in about two hours, Eric had already coached me through fixing the problem. When the tech from the other company called me, he asked about the problem which I described the same as I did to Eric, and he said he'd be there in about an hour to take a look. Big difference. I've had little experience with garage door companies, but it seems Crystal Door Inc. is a cut above the competition.

My appointment was for the next day Tuesday. While on the phone making the appointment the rep ran through a variety of things that may be the problem including ice building up at the base of the door. Monday night I discovered that indeed ice had built up, but I still wanted Crystal Doors to assure me that was the solution to my problem. I removed the ice. Tuesday AM they arrived as planned and verified there was nothing wrong with the door or the door opener -- most likely the ice was the issue. Although it was one of their busiest days they did not charge me for the service call.

It was an excellent experience. They were picked up on my request very quickly. They were the first out of the box. They really hustled and had good ratings. I reviewed other companies as well. They took time to show me what went wrong and how to avoid it in the future. They also showed me how to maintain the door. I felt the price was reasonable for the work that was done and compared to other reviews that I seen on Angie's List.

My garage door was getting stuck on the way up. They were able to schedule me the day after our initial phone call. They initially gave me a broader range of time for the appointment then I could do. They were very accommodating and gave me the first appointment of the day - and they were early! When does that happen? The service man was very polite and worked quickly. His work was neat and looked good when completed. (He straighted out the middle track of my garage door.) The price was reasonable and the door went up and down as it should. A few days later when it got colder the door got stuck in the same place it always did. The man I spoke to on the phone gave me a tip on what to do to fix the problem (adjust the power setting of the motor) - it worked perfectly and has ever since. (Another company may have come out for a second visit, which would be an inconvenience and possibly an additional charge.) I would use them again in a heartbeat.

The quality of the work itself was not necessarily bad; then again, this seems like a pretty straight forward job. The issue was their customer service. It took A MONTH to go from the estimate to the actual work, which included them standing me up twice without even calling. The people on the phone were nice enough, but basically unapologetic for missing appointments. Their attitude essentially was that this is the way they run their business, and frankly I'm lucky to have them. I would certainly not recommend using this company unless you simply have loads of extra time on your hands and don't mind being stood up repeatedly.

Called on Thursday, got appointment for Saturday 8-12. Joey called ahead and arrived within 15 minutes as promised. Work was completed quickly. Answered all our questions. Total cost of $95 was only $36 more than the $59 inspection cost.

The guy took one look at our opener and told us the logic board would need to be replaced. It would cost $180 and take a week to get the part in. Then he mentioned that he could replace the entire opener, right now, for $260. So I said for $260 I would replace it. When he was done, I wrote the check for $260, and he told me, no it would be $360. I called the company directly and was told that they could "never" sell a new opener for $260; the man I spoke to on the phone identified himself as the owner. Did the installer actually say $260, hoping that I would say yes, and then tell me the real price after he installed it? I hope not. So, am I deaf? Maybe. He should have given me the quote in writing, and I should have asked for it in writing. Let this be a lesson to everyone else. Either way, Crystal Doors has lost a customer for life.

Perfect. Not only did Joey repair the opener but he also made adjustments that will hopefully prolong the life of the door.

Pretty well - they were unable to fix the door the day they came out because they did not have the parts, which was kind of frustrating, but they did come back out the very next day. Also, they did try to upsell me other components that they said would be good to do, but when I said no they let it go. The opener works fine.

After the logic board and the electric were replaced, the door still wouldn't operate correctly. Also, my second door began to act up in the same manner as the first door. The technician then took the batteries out of one of the remotes, and miracle of miracles, the door then worked perfectly. Interestingly, without changing the logic board or electric eye on the second door and just by removing the batteries from the remote, this door also worked perfectly. What I think happened here was that the original representative misdiagnosed the problem. It was obvious that the problem was caused by a bad remote control device and not a circuit board. The technician was very prompt and worked very hard to complete the job, but this problem could have been solved for $40 for a new remote rather than the $400 + for the new equipment.

He did an excellent job. Another company told me that I was going to need a new garage door, he came out and looked at it and told me that it just needed some parts. He fixed it and saved me a lot of money.

From start to finish, this company was prompt. It only took a few days to get someone out there to look at my garage door. The biggest problem was that one of the "wheels" had jumped the track, which meant that the door couldn't be opened. Derrick replaced all of the wheels and pulleys as well as installed the new opener and its various components. (No such maintenance had been performed by the previous owner). He was professional, courteous, and quick with his work. I would definitely recommend this company!

I phoned and spoke with Eric who was very helpful. He spent time on the phone making recommendations though not necessarily based on my particular needs. Set up an appt for measurements. The appt was set for 1-4:00. Joe (Joel?) called at 3:30. Would be there within an hour. Called again at 4:00 & wanted to reschedule if possible as traffic was delaying him. I couldn't reschedule so he agreed to come. When Joe arrived, he just took measurements. Made no recommendations based on my garage. Had to point out the uneven garage floor which he said would just require thicker weatherstripping. Office was closed so couldn't give me an immediate estimate. Would e-mail me the next day. One week later I received a phone call apologizing for not getting me the estimate. It had been overlooked by someone. If I had a standard size garage door and no problems (such as floor) and knew exactly what I wanted, I'd consider getting an estimate from this company.

Service was prompt. I called for a repair of a spring, but had an entirely new door put in instead since the old one was worn out. The door works, but not perfectly. When the door goes down it hits a spot on the track, which makes a jump. They would not fix this when I called them back.

English seemed to be a problem, or there was a lack of interest in communicating. The tech showed up, and without any real inspection started to give reasons why he couldn't do the job as was promised over the phone. The reason he gave, being a garage door repair service, was he couldn't lift the door. Something I would assume a garage door repair tech would be able to do.

The first visit was aborted because the aluminum rails were not wide enough. That's ok, but on the second visit, the next repair man ALSO brought rails that were too short. Therefore, a 3rd visit was necessary when the dispatcher could have asked me for the door's width in the first place. Once the rails were installed the doors work great, and two months later, I've experienced no problems.

They were very much incompetent which is different from what was rated on Angie s list. When they put the doors in, because my concrete floor was not straight, you have to scribe the door so it lies flat on the floor. When they put the door in, they put the scribe on the top and not the bottom of the door. That required them to come and fix it. That left holes in the door and when I called to notify them; they told me it was just a garage door. While painting the door, they painted the inside and when they put it in, the paint was not dry, the paper between the panels stuck and it is the worst thing I ever seen and once again, they told me it was just a garage door. After much talking, they came out and repainted them but it was a sloppy fix and pant was splat on my floor and their were screws all around. I am still finding screws on the floor. They did the strangest thing, I ordered two new garage door openers, they didn't put light bulbs in them and I was not told I needed to supply light bulbs. It was just a horrific experience for me. The job was done poorly as I think and the process could have been done much better.

I needed a duplicate garage door opener, as the past owner only gave us one, whereas we needed two for our two cars. I called, got a quick quote for a simple one-button garage door opener, and decided to buy on the spot, they would ship it to me and I would be responsible for configuring it. Low and behold, next day, we got a call that they were going to drop it off in our mailbox, the only odd thing is that it didn't come in a box with instructions or anything, but I was able to figure it out when I looked up the owner's manual for the garage door on the internet so, I got a new garage door opener in pretty much less than 24 hours.

He was supposed to come between 8 and noon, the day after Labor Day (I called and made an appt on Labor Day -- and they answered!). He arrived at 8:15, which was perfect. It only took him about 30 minutes to fix our problem, and he only did what was necessary. Upon request, he left us a quote for a new garage door system, but there was no pressure to act.

After I replaced one, the other of my two garage door openers with universal remotes from the hardware store, my garage door started opening randomly. I called up Crystal Door; they sent someone out immediately (like the next day) to look at it. Initially, I balked at buying a new opener, so the guy (I can't remember his name) suggested some other things to try first (e.g., clearing out the old programming). They charged me $65 for the initial visit. When I decided after a week to go ahead and replace the entire opener, they applied that $65 to the cost of the new opener, which was $450. Once I made that decision, they came out right away and installed the new opener in no time. Very professional, prompt, excellent communicators. I haven't had any problem with it since then. I'll definitely call them in the future.

They did a very quick and correct job. My complaint about them is we had several other jobs we wanted them to bid on and they were always the highest bidder.
