Due to the rainy spring and a lot of customers, it took 3 months from the estimate, to the completion of the job. Since I wasn't in a hurry and didn't need it done on a particular date, this was fine with me.  Bill Haderlein, the owner, kept me informed as to possible dates for the work to be done.  A crew came on one day to wash the decks, and they returned the next day to stain them.  I like that they brushed on the stain rather than spray it, as spraying tends to get on everything, and brushing does a better job.  I couldn't believe that Bill didn't ask for a downpayment! After the job was done and I was sent a bill, I called and asked if the bill included the 10% off from Angie's List.  It would have been easy for him to say "yes" because I wouldn't know.  He simply said deduct 10% when paying. They have me on their calendar for next spring to clean and stain my cedar siding.

WOW!  Fantastic job!  Our deck looked bad as we were a couple years overdue for a stain/seal.  We can't beleive how great it looks now.  Great communication from Bill the owner, who called us at each step of the process.  Although we were on long wait list (likely thanks to all the rain this year) it was worth the wait.  We were amazed with the power wash, and the finished job left us very happy. They even removed everything off the deck for us!  No payment required until the job was done.  We never could have done a job like this ourselves, I guess that is why they are the pros!  In the future we will definitely have our deck done regularly by Chicagoland  Deck Cleaning & Sealing.

Dear Angie?s List Members?
You cannot go wrong with the Haderlein?s family business! I can go on ? and on ? and on about how pleased I am with the service. I have worked with lots of vendors, but never received such thorough and courteous service than from Chicagoland Deck Cleaning and Sealing. I live in a Chicago 2-flat brick home with 2 decks. I requested to have them power-washed, stained and sealed. The estimator (Gary) came to assess the project.  A few days later, I received the quote. Love how I was given two options (according to the condition of my decks). I was informed that there is a bit of a wait due to the rainy weather and big demand for their services so there is a wait. However, Bill (owner) contacted me several times to keep me abreast of the progress and assured me that his team was working long hours to catch up.
Although a month and half later, it was worth the wait!!! Power washed on a Friday, stained and sealed Monday.
No fuss, no calls that they cannot make it, no interruptions or issues. The team came in and got the job done. They brushed (not sprayed) the stain/sealer to every spindle, stair, rail, horizontal area, etc. The process felt like it was 1-2-3. They tarped areas for protection, and the cleanup was excellent.  According to cost, I received two other quotes that were either 20-40% higher. I appreciate Gary's honesty that our decks were not in bad shape. They are in high demand, so don?t look any further?call Bill Haderlein to get your project on the books quick!
I like how Chicagoland Deck Cleaning and Sealing will automatically follow up with me in 3 years to see if I am ready to schedule a touch up or full job. Both of my neighbors have already asked for the referral. My only regret is that I did not take before and after images to upload to this site. I know how I rely on members' comments. I hope my commentary will be of some help.
Chicagoland Deck Cleaning and Sealing?thank you for bringing my outside living space back to life ? this was the easiest request for service ever. Hello summer!

We have used Chicagoland Deck Cleaning & Sealing for years and they always do a terrific job. They do the work in a two-day phase. Cleaning one day, letting it dry overnight and then coming back the next day to apply the sealer. They arrive right on time and clean up.
They are very good about putting tarps on anything left on the lower decks so that the sealant doesn't drip from the deck above. They even took down the lattice work that our second floor owner had put up at the end of her deck for privacy. They stained it and reattached it. Their attention to detail is excellent.
All of the crew members are polite and friendly. An important tip is to call early in the season and get on the list for service, because they book up fast. Due to the weather, you may not know your cleaning date more than a week out, but any kind of outdoor service is going to demand flexibility on your part. Just cannot say enough about this company. They are very professional.

They came out and did 6 decks as well as the stairs. They removed the lights from the rails. They power washed everything. Then they sealed/painted everything. They sanded the hand rails.

Chicagoland Deck did a fantastic job and I wouldn't hesitate to use them again.  We had received several quotes from various types of providers providing various types of service.  Finding a company that could give us a clean quote that split up the various decks between the unit owners was half the battle.  This company provided our quote exactly as requested.
The service was fast and the results look great.
My only complaint is that they could have done a more thorough job cleaning up the basement tenants area.  Unfortunately, they received the bulk of the debris and dirt from this project.

Chicagoland Deck Cleaning & Sealing Inc did an excellent job. They had a big backlog, so it took a bit of time for them to get to me. They were honest about it being maybe 6 or 8 weeks down the track. There was a weather problem the day we had scheduled, it rained, but we rescheduled promptly. When they came out they were very timely in getting the work done. They were not cheap but they did do a quality job. They were responsive thought I was the one that had to ring them after the 6 week wait. I found something that they had missed, and they came back the next day and took care of it.

I called for an estimate.  Bill Haderlein, the owner, came out within a week & called me with an estimate.  I accepted his estimate & was told they would be out to do the work within a month.  Bill, explained the whole process to me & was very helpful. My deck is about 20 years old & he suggested some stains best suited for an older deck. About, the end of September, i received a call that they would be out to do the job.  They power washed it 1 day & 2 days later I came home to find 4 guys staining the deck.  They did an excellent job, it covered well & so far, I am completely satisfied.  I will definately use them again.

No complaints. They did a very nice job — both decks are a lovely cedar color and look like new (they were two years old, but the original finish was already coming off). I really like that they'll send us a reminder in three years to do it again. If they can keep the decks looking this nice through their natural lifespan, then it's an investment well worth making.

I called Chicagoland Deck Cleaning & Sealing in September of 2011 to inquire about staining our new deck, which had been copleted in June 2011.  Bill Haderlein, the owner, spoke with me at length and recommended letting the deck weather longer before staining it so that it would better absorb the stain.  They added me to the wait list for Spring 2012.  In the Spring, I received a letter in the mail confirming my place on the list and asking me to confirm that I wanted to proceed with staining the deck.  I received a call in April alerting me to the fact that I was next in line for powerwashing and staining and that, weather permitting, work would begin in a week or two.  We had a fairly rainy few weeks, but when the work was finally completed, my husband and I were thrilled.  Their workers were very respectful and thoughtful, and I appreciated that Bill sent a few employees to me in advance of the project to show me stain samples and to test them on the deck so that I could make an informed decision.  When it comes time to stain our deck again, I will most definitely call Chicagoland Deck Cleaning & Sealing.  I really felt good about hiring a company that specializes in washing and staining decks exclusively.  I have friends who hired other companies to stain their decks, but it is clear that those companies did not have the knowledge or skill necessary to stain a deck properly, and their decks do not look nearly as lovely as ours does.

I was put on the wait list entering the spring, and was kept updated on a regular basis on when they anticipated my job to start.  They showed up when they said they would, and I was very happy with the results.

2 guys did the power washing in about 1 hour.
A few days later a couple guys came and stained the decks.
Work was good, everyone associated with the company seemed very professional.  I understand why the make Angies top list every year and is something the company seems rightly very proud of.
Excellent customer service, I mentioned that the crew missed on tiny corner that I was totally okay with and they came out and touched it up.

I had a quote to clean and stain my deck from several deck companies last fall.  Chicagoland deck was the lowest bid, although one of the other bidders included sanding and Chicagoland deck did not.  I called them in very early spring, and they told me they would honor their bid, but I would have to wait until at least July for them to come out.  They were right-- we did have to wait that long. They do a lot of decks and they have different crews to power wash and stain. The deck looked pretty good after it was cleaned, although i did think it was rougher and had a lot more splinters than after other power washings. We also noticed a large darkish spot in one section near the door.  My husband pointed it out, and the cleaning crew said maybe the staining crew could lightly sand it by hand before they stained it. (Chicagoland deck does not normally sand, nor does it have heavy sanding equipment.) After staining, the dark spot look much worse. Thus began a long series of phone calls with the owner Bill.  As the two crews are different, it was unclear if the staining crew had even sanded in the correct spot, as they told my daughter "they didn't see a dark spot".  Bill was responsive in that he promptly called back and checked the spot out, but at the end of the day, he said he couldn't fix the spot without us hiring a sanding company and then redoing a large area, which would cost extra money and might not match the rest of the deck.  In retrospect, after seeing the intitial dark spot, they should have recommended that we first hire a sanding company to sand the deck before staining. I think it is a big disadvantage that they do not sand, and would not choose them again.

I called them for an estimate in the spring. They told me that there was a long waiting list and not to expect the job to be done until the end of the summer. I delayed in giving them the OK to proceed until mid summer. They called to let me know that if the weather held the job could be done at the end of October. The deck was cleaned and looked so good we couldn't believe it. Then the weather didn't cooperate so a week passed. They came back and cleaned it again because leaves had fallen all over the deck. A couple of days later the first half was stained. They called me with specific instructions that we followed, not walking on the new stain...keep the dog off for 24 hrs and the next day they did the other section. So in my mind this was a custom job.

They had two employees come to do the washing and were done in about 1/2 a day.  For the sealing they had 5 employees and were done in 1 day.  Very impressed.  Great job and the fence looks great.

I scheduled them a couple of months  in advance when we would be out of town. They as promised, washed and sealed/stained the deck and sent me an invoice. Communications with Bill were excellent and ongoing before the job as we decided what color to stain everything. They even dropped off a wood post that had been treated with different colors to help us decide.

Everything went fine.  Weather was a little dicey but since my porches are covered even when the weather was threatening they were still able to complete the job.  There are a couple of spots missed on vertical boards but I gave them a pass because they were minor and water does not lay on the verticle boards.  Company offered to come out and touch things up but I said it didn't matter.  Happy with the work that was performed and will use again.

I think they did a great job of cleaning my deck and I was very impressed with it. We had a small altercation. They had someone coming out and they were supposed to be showing me a sample for the stain and I wasn't home and they showed it to someone else and they went on and stained my deck without my permission. I had a little problem with that, but I was able to resolve it especially with the owner.
