Ed from Besco came over to do the estimate, and he was incredibly thorough. We had multiple folks come over to give estimates on this job - completing the incomplete ductwork that we knew we had to take care of when we purchased the house. Whereas others came over and looked for about 5 minutes, Ed spent a full hour at the house - he went above and beyond and had such incredible attention to detail. We were thrilled to find him, as most heating and cooling companies deal with the units themselves and not the actual ductwork. With an extensive background in sheet metal and steel work, Ed was perfect for the job! While their estimate was not the cheapest, we found it to be the most accurate. We had other estimates between $150 and $5000; we trusted that Ed's thorough inspection and $2700 estimate was the "just right" estimate for the work. We needed a few months to save up the money to do the work, and Ed was patient in this regard - he even saved the detailed notes for multiple months to be ready to do the work. When I got in touch with him to finally do the work (it took a few tries - their fax machine does not work and my email went to his spam folder), he came over to remind himself of the job, scheduled the correct amount of time, and sent over very capable folks to do the work. Everything was done with high quality and efficiency. Well worth the money to have the piece of mind that it was done right, and to deal with someone as friendly, helpful, and genuine as Ed!

We called this morning around 8:30 and they were at our house at 2:00 - on time, professional and courteous. They accepted the coupon and also made suggestions for potential future problems.

Heat wasn't working so Sergio Morales came out and took a look at our thermostat and furnace. He bypassed the thermostat and figured out the furnace was working so that was great. He recommended that we get a new thermostat because ours was overly sensitive to needing brand new batteries (if they had never been used but were 2-3 years old, they wouldn't work). He didn't charge us anything more than the $35 we had originally paid for the "50% off of services" coupon we had. Really nice guy, very helpful.

I am very happy with Besco's services at this point.

Excellent from start to finish. Every fall, I have Besco come and service both of my furnaces. Their technicians are always skilled and thorough and are responsive and professional throughout -- and it's great knowing that the furnaces are well-prepared for another worry-free winter. I don't know whether the $90-per-furnace price is good or bad. I'm satisfied with it.

I like this company, but we were a little disappointed this time around. I called to schedule the tune-up and told them we pre-purchased the special via Angie's List. I said that in addition to the pre-purchased furnace tune-up, I also wanted them to check our hot water heater (at whatever the additional cost would be). The service man completed the furnace tune-up and said that we had not pre-paid. He had to call HQ, even though we showed him Angie's List proof of purchase (and notified the company in advance when we made the reservation). The service man said he did not have time to service our hot water heater, and we would have to schedule that another time. As busy professionals, this is a tremendous inconvenience, and we had in fact pre-scheduled that work, so I found this unacceptable. UPDATE 11/3/12: I wanted to update this review to let everyone know that Besco acknowledged their mistake with us, and they came out and performed the service we had originally requested. As a consumer, this is the kind of response I appreciate and respect. Thank you to Besco - we'll be using you again.

It went fantastically well. They were very patient with helping to consult on what our best options were to meet out needs. Their customer service was quite traditional and old fashioned--they really cared about us and weren't trying to just get us in and out. They provided great customer service, both the sales team and installation team.

The overall experience was okay. The tech came and verified that I needed more Freon, which he added to the system. The only issue I was not happy with, was that the tech, while preforming tests, tripped the cut off on the compressor and had to stay til he could get it working again. This was after I paid. He called it into his boss, and he made him charge me for the time spent fixing something the tech did, Not very professional.

The technician was very friendly and knowledgeable. Told me what I did wrong and how to avoid doing it in the future. ;-)

Technician arrived on time. Appeared friendly and knowledgeable. Did through job cleaning furnace. Checked filter. Indicated still good. Did not push for replacement. Even cleaned blower & emptied overflow reservoir. Only miss, did not move vent lever from summer to winter setting (no big deal since still using air conditioner). Will use again.

When our AC suddenly failed on one of the hottest days, we called american home shield and they sent yet another sucktastic company out to repair it (I'll review them in the proper place) Even though it was late in the day (after dealing with AHS all afternoon), Besco sent someone out immediately to diagnose and did not charge us to look. The tech was extremely thorough even down to switching coils and changing circuit breakers to try to get it to work. It was dead. Mostly because the inside coils (which the first company never checked) were not replaced 7 years ago when another bozo AHS sent replaced our last AC unit. Great. So the next morning Joe came out to give us a price for new AC and possibly new furnace. We discovered a few years ago when my (now) husband bought this condo it had a refurbished AC so our unit was 30+ years old and basically was just a failure waiting to happen. We did get two other estimates and Besco came in somewhere in the middle price-wise, BUT it was all the other things they threw in, their attention to details, and the quality of their technician who originally went above and beyond that made this an easy choice for us to go with Besco. They were great. Fast, clean, and very personal. Highly recommend!

They did a check, evaluation, and ended up servicing one of our two air conditioning units. They did a great job, and we were very pleased with the work.

Their estimate/ bid was actually more than Northstar. North star is going to do the work since they installed the system to start with. The tech that came out couldn't have been nicer.

I used someone else to service my air conditioners and will never use Besco again!

My AC died and I called Besco, they had same-day availability (though I had them come the next day). The serviceman came out and diagnosed the problem with the old unit ($600 to replace a motor on the outdoor unit). Rather than repair the ancient AC unit I decided to install a new system. The serviceman called in a salesman to come out and give me an estimate and discuss options. The salesman was able to get out to my house within half an hour. He explained exactly what they were going to do and gave me an estimate for 2 different units (I went with the more efficient but more expensive unit). The salesman explained that the estimate IS the price which is nice to know that there's no surprises after the installers show up. The installers arrived the next day and had the unit installed by early afternoon. They left some gravel on the driveway and some metal scraps in the backyard, but otherwise did a great job. The salesman followed up with me the next week to come by and make sure everything was working correctly and that we were satisfied with everything.

On the third consecutive day of plus one hundred degree heat with the air conditioning running non-stop for hours and hours on end, the air conditioner gave out on late afternoon Friday. I knew from the news that heating and air conditioning repair companies were absolutely buried with calls, so I called knowing that it would be probably days before I could get someone to come out to look. It occurred to me that I could call a competitor just down the block and they might be able to squeeze me in because they were so close, but I stuck with Besco because they have often gone above and beyond. When I first got through the harried guy taking the call apologized immediately explaining that they probably wouldn't be able to get someone out there until Tuesday. I said I understood (after all, it was 103 degrees outside) and told him to just put me in the queue. He took down my information and than after seeing where I lived said that Monday would actually work. I said great and started making plans for sleeping downstairs where it was going to be cooler. Imagine my surprise when Besco called back later that day and said they would try to squeeze me in the next morning! They had worked out the logistics and figured out how they could get me in sooner rather than later. And then he said...You're a good customer. The service tech came out the next morning and I recognized the guy from repair work done years earlier. With his usual competence, he located a burned part, replaced it, and then offered me the option of adding a booster unit that would strengthen the integrity of the system which I accepted. Then as he left he repeated what that first guy from the office had told me...You're a good customer. I believe this is story about loyalty as much as anything. I've used Besco for both the installation and maintenance of my heating and cooling needs for more than a decade and they have really delivered. Maybe they would've delivered the same quality service if I was brand new. I can't speak to that. All I know is that during a record time of heat, when thousands were seeking repairs for broken systems (including my neighbor next door), Besco was at my door in less than 24 hours.

Thorough work. Cleaned and serviced the units, offered assessment of their current state of repair, offered advice on how to continue to maintain them correctly.

I called because our air conditioner stopped working. The temperatures were in the high 90’s and it was just before the holiday. Andy said that he would find someone to come to our home, but first he wanted me to check the unit. He was very nice and patience. He took me through a few steps and we got the unit working again. He saved us time and money. We will definitely them for the next time we need a check or have a problem!

I found them on Angie’s List. I trusted them since we'd used them at my father's house, and I knew that everything I read on Angie’s List was true. There are such good ratings on them, and they are definitely excellent. The person who came out even gave me his cell phone number in case I had a problem; that never happens.

Called them because my a/c wasn't cooling. Tech came out, took a look at my thermostat and the condenser on my roof and told me I was low on coolant. Told me I probably needed about 2 pounds of coolant. Charged the lines and condenser and everything started to cool much better. I am happy because, compared to the outrageous prices that others had quoted me on the charging of my system, Besco was reasonable and the Tech seemed to care that it actually solved the problem. I will use them again.

They provided us with options and educated us on the pros and cons of each. This was very helpful and we were able to make an informed decision on steps to take. We ended up replacing our AC and were extermely happy with the result. Workers were respectful, timely and professional. I would highly recommend this company again. Thanks Besco Air!

02/2005. We were forced to purchase a replacement heating system because our old one failed and caused our house to become an ice palace. We had used Four Seasons to replace our old air conditioning system; so we choose to call on them for heater replacement. Between the winter of 2005 and winter of 2011 the house was not in a livable state because of mold problems so we left the heat and air turned off to prevent the duct work from becoming contaminated. By July 2011 (lots of fighting with insurance company) I began the move-in process. Began by checking and replacing or repairing mechanicals (husband taught me something before he passed). I had all duct work replaced because of the length of time the mold was allowed to fester. 10/2011. Winter came and I needed to turn on the heat. Needless to say - it failed. I called Four Seasons and explained the story and they looked up history of install and knew who I was. They sent someone out to look at the problem. Almost $400 later I found out it would cost an additional $1600 to repair because of an engineering change that had occurred on my unit. I asked if the part was recalled and did I miss it. No. I asked if Trane could be called to stand behind the product since it really only worked 1/2 a winter season. No. So I called Trane distributor. After FREEZING for my third day and asked who would be my Trane provider IF I had called for a recommended Trane firm. Trane told me Besco and gave me contact information. Besco said they could repair it for $800 today. Besco also said they would go back to Trane and try to get my money back for me. The morning after my unit was repaired; I received an early call from Four Seasons saying they could do the repair for free because Trane approved it. I relaid this information back to Besco. They asked me to find out who gave the approval from Trane. Four Seasons would not provide that information ... makes sense, I went to a competitor.I explained to Besco. They said they would still talk to Trane. They never did and I called them repeatedly to ask the status. I do not understand why a non-distributor would get approval but a distributor couldn't.
