American Mattress

The overall service was good and I have no negative comments about the salesman. However, the American Mattress shop in Lagrange did not give refunds; not sure if this policy is common to other locations. They exchanged my mattress twice because I was not happy with the models I selected from the showroom floor. The salesman stated the "no refund" policy" upfront, and I should have listened. In the end, I was stuck with a mattress I did not want and could not return. I ended up going to another store that does refund purchases.

We called for a price on a mattress. They quoted a price for a mattress. We ordered the mattress and it was delivered and carried in the building.

Salesman Mark Starbeck greeted me when I walked in, and asked me what I was looking for. I told him that I needed a "moderately-priced queen-sized mattress and box spring." He asked me two questions that told me that he had experience: he asked 1) whether I was looking for a firm, plus, or euro-top mattress; and 2) whether I slept on my side, back or stomach. Based on my answers, he directed me to a model to try out. I did not feel rushed at all and had ample time to lie on the mattress and toss and turn to make sure that it felt right, without him (or any other salesman standing over me). He showed me the more expensive and less expensive models, and I preferred the model he originally steered me to.

I was very satisfied with the price. I feel like a got a very reasonable deal during their 4th of July sale. Delivery was free, and Mark threw in the bed frame for free, too. As I was checking out, Mark described how the 10-year warranty works. I made the purchase at 7:30pm on a Friday, and he said they'd deliver it between noon and 3pm the very next day, even though it was a holiday weekend.

They have excellent hours and were open until 9pm on the day I went. I would wholeheartedly recommend this American Mattress branch, and Mark Starbeck in particular, to anyone.
