The Fitness Center

I go under SilverSneakers so there isn't any cost for SilverSneakers. They offer a lot and they are nice people. It is clean. I will use them again in the future.

They have long hours, excellent group/leader for aerobic, zumba and those kind of things. They also have a large variety of weight machines. They have an extensive group fitness schedule, that's like a class plus excellent instructors.

Working out in a group is so much more motivating to me that attempting to do it at home. The instructors are quite good and while each person is encouraged to do his/her best, it's fine to dial it down a notch if Iand quot;m not up to what the leader is modeling. Highly recommended.

I purchased a year membership to the Fitness Center's Body Shop facility in West Champaign when it opened because it was close to our home. We moved a few months later to another town (~15 miles away). They would not prorate or partially refund even though we moved out of town. The manager suggested I drive in to use their facility in either Champaign or Monticello (which would take at least a half hour round-trip per day to either and cost me $5 in gas to do). This seemed to be a reasonable solution to them. Also, I notice that their website currently does not detail membership terms (even in their FAQ or About Us pages). I prefer businesses that are more transparent when there are contracts such as membership terms for people to review at leisure. The gym I am joining (near our new home) has a much smaller website, and includes membership details which can be reviewed without needing to go to their facility or talk to sales people on the phone. I rate the Fitness Center Poor-Fair because their policy (as I experienced it) lacks a level of customer service I would ordinarily anticipate from a service-based people-oriented business. I tend to learn things the hard way, and this is my experience to share.
Also, I had to go in to the facility twice to cancel from their default policy of auto-renewing my membership. This is a form that needs to be filled out, and they conveniently had none at the facility when I went (I'd guess there were plenty of contracts available!). I'm thankful that I remembered this, as I'm sure they would charge another full year had I not done this.
