Freeman Fence

It went well overall, we are happy with the company and will use them again when it's time to update our wrought iron fence. The project basically involved two stages 1) installing additional posts to support the gate and operator and 2) installing the gate and wiring the operator. Stage 1 was completed on time and as expected. We were a little disappointed that Stage 2 seemed to be delayed unnecessarily, but Freeman took full responsibility and upgraded several of our components at no extra charge to compensate for our inconvenience. It's now been about 6 months since the gate was installed and it continues to work well, the remote controls and manual keypad work well and are a huge convenience (especially in the snowy months). The gate blends well with the wrought iron fence so everything turned out as we had hoped it would.

I ordered a 3 foot width dog run and they came in with a 4 - 4.5 feet wide run. They had the wrong fence gate style - pickets were to be level, not curved. I spoke with the installation manager and the owners Roger Freeman and Ross Papke and said that I wanted the correct gate ordered according to the specs of our contract. They claim the manufacturer sent the incorrect one. It took several calls, one in March of 2007 and August 2007 to find out when the proper gate would be replaced. Ross came and looked at the gate and said they would glue the pickets to the correct height. I said I was not agreeable to that. I paid a lot of money to have this fencing done and Freeman Fence never fulfilled by ordering the correct gate. I never agreed with gluing the pickets. Finally, one year later, on November 18, 2007, I noticed that someone had come and glued the other two pickets to the same height and caulked around all of the pickets which made it look cheap and sloppy.

Overall, we had a very tough experience with Freeman Fence. We found the work done to be very shoddy and unprofessional. While Mr. Freeman was responsive to my complaint phone calls during the work, the results were nowhere near favorable. The whole process ending up taking a month once work started. The problems were many: the fence itself does not follow the slope of the yard so there are large gaps at the base of the fence that allow critters to pass freely. For a fence expert to construct something like this is unfortunate. They ordered the wrong hardware for my vinyl gate so they initially mounted the gate backwards; meaning that people in the alley could lock me in my own yard. Ultimately, they ended up mounting the hardware upside down and the gate has never worked right. The workers tried to install different color post caps than the fence color because they ordered the wrong ones. They finished by leaving their extra fence parts behind and the yard all torn up.

EXCELLENT CRAFTMANSHIP. I JUST NEED HIM TO RETURN FOR FINISH WORK, BUT EVEN THOUGH HE TELLS ME HE WILL BE HERE, HE HAS NOT YET SHOWN.
