To start with, the owner of the company showed up at my house on a Sunday (the only day I was available) to estimate the job. Once the job was under way we found out the rear of my property had a concrete foundation I didn't know about (some sort of retaining wall).  Although it took more effort on their part since they had to drill into the old concrete, they didn't charge me any extra. Both me and my dog are thrilled at finally having an enclosed yard. Everything looks great, I highly recommend them.

They responded very quickly to our email with an estimate of the work that we needed.  We made arrangements for them to come out the following week.  A few days later they called and said that they had some available time this week to do the job.  They came by and completed the work and did a great job.  We would definitely call them again!

They are very good. I have written to them couple of times and they came right away. I had a fence which had stains and they could not do anything till the spring, until it got warmer. He emailed me back about an hour later. My husband had asked him couple of things and he called back right away. They were really good. I don't know if they are pricey because I don't know what an average price would be. I didn't compare them at all. I would use them in the future.

On the strength of Angie's list reviews, I called Freeman Fence for an estimate for insurance work on a small section of residential chain link fencing. At first, I was impressed when the owner, Roger Freeman, called himself at 7:30 PM, the same day I'd contacted him. After explaining the situation, he agreed to come by Tuesday, Feb 28 at 2 PM. When Tuesday arrived, he called hours past the scheduled time, saying he was runniing late, requesting a reschedule for the following Saturday. Saturday came and went without Roger or a call. On Tuesday, I noticed two calls from Freeman Fence on caller id. Since we waited all day Saturday for his promised appointment, we could not have missed the call. I listened to the answering machine just the same and, of course, there was no call. They were from our prior conversations. Mr Freeman had a chance to redeem himself when I called him on Tuesday. He clearly had no idea who I was, until I went into the entire history, including the missed appointment. He never acknowledged missing the appointment, nor offered an apology for his second no show. He said, as he did the first time, that he'd be in our area on Tuesday and could stop by. Since we had another appointment earlier in the day, I agreed. Roger was quite early, almost back - to - back with our first appointment. My husband spoke with him and returned without a written estimate. Instead, Roger handed him his business card with one illegible and one semi-legible word, a very clear dollar amount, and his barely legible first name, all scrawled across the back in green ink. This was his written estimate for an insurance company. Roger said he'd done work for this insurance company and believes he is in its database. When I called the insurance company and described the alleged estimate we'd been handed. I was told that this was not an appropriate estimate, and was advised to find another company. Based on the poor response of no less than the owner himself and his disrespect for our time and the claims process, I will never call him for a future planned project, nor will I refer. His behavior caused a delay in getting our claim finalized, and cost us more time away from our own bsiness to find another contractor and wait for an appointment. It is my opinion that he'd driven past on our appointment day and decided the job was too small. I believe this is supported by the lack of an apology of any kind, and his utter lack of professionalism in writing an alleged estimate. This is the third of four A list service companies we've used from Angie's List that did not live up to expectations. We're not happy.
Response from Freeman Fence

"Let me suggust a few things that will help you or any other potential customer with insurance claim estimates. First of all, tell the contractor you are looking for an insurance estimate.( In you case, you made it sound like you needed a new fence and guard rail installation.) ( you needed a bent Chain Link post straighted .)Your time and my time and gas could of been elimatad by sending a simple email with a photo. Most fence contractors have relationships with the major Insurance companies. Nine times out of ten, older deteriorated fences are deprecated to very little value and insurance money is never received. I never set up any appointments with you, I was told you both work out of the house and just call and stop by when you are in the Area. Perhaps there were some comunications problems. Roger Freeman, owner"

A man came to my house to review/measure the fence area. He provided a brochure and I was undecided on the type of fence. Further, the patio as being installed the following day and the exact placement of the gate may change. Therefore, I promised I would email him the info. I emailed to his personal email address the details of the fence type, gate type (I found on the mfg website) and measurements (including a drawing). He responded and wrote he would need to talk with Roger on the price for the special order gate. He never sent an estimate and I never heard from him again.

Jim Weinrach and his crew are a pleasure to work with. He set (and kept) appointments promptly and was helpful in bringing samples to show me how the stain would look when finished. He talked several times with the landscaper/hardscape designer I had hired so their work could be coordinated. His crew started work on time and there was no trace of scraps or garbage when they left. The whole job only took a day and a half, plus a little time several weeks later to install "baffles" in a few gaps between my house and the fence. The workers were very professional and everything went smoothly. I highly recommend Freeman Fence!

My experience was beyond my expectations from the first contact I made with the company all the way to the finish product. I called in for an estimate and was VERY pleased with Roger who came out for the estimate, he was right on time and was very honest with what condition my fence was in. I recieved the estimate the next day and two days later my fence blew over. I have a dog so I needed my fenced fixed right away which I didn't think was possible but after calling them I was astonished when they told me they could be out there that afternoon. They were out that afternoon and my gate and fence looks beautiful!!

Response from Freeman Fence

". My name is Roger Freeman, owner of Freeman Fence. I do the majority of scheduling estimates and being in Brookfield, IL normally do not extend service into GraysLake.Being the owner of a small family buisness, I take every call very serious. I would of appriciated knowing that after talking with us one time you did not get a response back (even tho quite possibly a call was returned but could of went to a voice mail or even a wrong number) we will never know that for sure. To try and help you out, you could go to the American Fence Association and try and locate a quilified fence company in Northern Lake county instead of one in southern cook."

We have referred them to a lot of friends. Everything was simple, they were not the lowest bid but were very well priced. The man who came out to see us was very professional, and meet us right to the "T". It was a very clean job, and everything was done fast.

It went really well. The people who did the work were fine, courteous. I had a little problem with the gate a few months later. They came right out and fixed it. They've been great.

They did a wonderful job. I?d be happy to use them again. It was very professionally done. They?re reliable and did wonderful work. They did this in the dead of winter. I had an urgent need for a fence, and it was very cold out with snow and slush as well. They didn?t complain. I tried to get them to come in and take breaks and they wouldn?t because they didn?t want to track in any snow. I was very pleased throughout the entire process and would recommend Freeman Fence very highly.

The fence is fabulous. While they did they work, they were neat and clean. These guys were great. You do not need to worry about the fence at all! Our fence has been up 6 years and still looks brand new.

I am thinking about hiring them. I wanted estimates on either a cedar or vinyl fence. They also described a composite fence and that is what I am going to go with. Their estimates were in line with the other two estimates I got. They were right in the ballpark. The sales rep was very helpful with what kind of look I wanted for the fence and things like that. He has been very prompt and very good with getting back with me with the quote.

Roger installed cedar fences for my daughter and son-in-law and their immediate neighbor a few months ago. They were very impressed with Roger and his crew and the quality and value of the finished fences. Based on their wonderful experience, I called Roger and had a similar wonderful experience. Roger was very responsive and took time to explain exactly what his bids contained. Importantly, the cedar that Roger uses is absolutely clear. It is far superior to the grade of cedar that I have seen in local big boxes and lumber yards and, in my experience, far superior to the grade that other fence builders use. Roger explained that he has a source for the clear cedar in British Columbia and noted that British Columbia has stringent regulations that permit only selective logging of end of life trees. Using superior wood, Roger and his crew take obvious pride in their craftsmanship and creativity. I have other fencing that I will replace in a year or two and will clearly use Freeman Fencing.
