Don was the listing agent for a home we were interested in purchasing. We negotiated a price and a first right agreement to purchase the new home pending the sale of our home. We asked Don to list our home, reasoning that they would be very motivated to sell our home because it would result in two home sales for them. The first thing Sue (his wife and co-agent) said upon walking into our home before we listed it was "Wow, I can see why you want to move!" We have a very nice home we've lived in for 10 years and pride ourselves in taking care of it. We bought it when we were newly married and we now have two kids and are looking for more space, so our house has a lot of stuff. We were well aware of this and prepared to gut the house and make necessary updates to prep for the sale, which we did after considerable effort, time, and expense on our part. We listed the home in mid-December and took it off the market in mid-March. Obviously, the market is terrible and we certainly don't blame them for that, but we did get consistently conflicting feedback on what the listing price should be and staging/painting tips for the house. In addition, their initial description of our home in the online listing was "Nice Home for the money", which we found demeaning and insulting. It listed none of the advantages of our home or nearby stores and parks. In the three months our home was listed, they held one open house in which not one person visited. The few showings that we did get came entirely from other agents as well, they didn't bring a single client. We strongly question what pro-active advertising they did aside from an MLS listing and a postage stamp-sized picture in a book with hundreds of other homes.
Description of Work: Don Sutton listed our house for sale. He and his wife assisted with staging, took pictures, listed the home on MLS, and put a sign out front.
