M & M Repair

Everything went very smoothly. We had an appointment and Michael was in touch before coming about the model and serial number of our specific machine so he would have the right parts. He was running a little late on Sunday, but let us know in a timely manner and we understood completely. It can be hard to estimate exactly how long a visit will take. When he arrived he was knowledgeable, friendly and neat. Our machine was working fine when he left and my son was able to get right to work on the snow on the driveway. Having the "housecall" service is GREAT! Our snow blower is much too big to fit even in my Jeep so having him come to us made things easy and the travel charge was much more than reasonable. I would recommend him to anyone!

Mike was great. He texted me to set up the appointment and to get the details on my snow blower so he could order parts. He was a bit delayed (which is understandable as these things are all different and take as long as they take) but let me know so it was no problem. He spent about an hour working in my garage and when he was done it was running better than I ever remember it running. He also gave me advice on how to use it and get it ready at the end of the season. He was very professional and his work was great. I wouldn't hesitate to use him in the future or recommend him to others.

I scheduled an appointment to have my snowblower looked at. It wasn't turning on for some reason and I wanted to get it ready for winter. The person that came right away fixed it snowblower. You really knew what he was doing and I would hire them again.

I was very satisfied with th service. Mike took the time to inspect the snowblower and explained how the machine works, how to maintain the machine, and what is needed each year for it to run smootly. I will use this company again.

It went awesome! Michael gave me a time (1:30 pm) but his prior job ran late. He communicated with me to let me know when he thought he'd actually be able to make it, and showed up at the updated time. Michael rebuilt the carburetor of our 1996 snowblower. He also found an enormous nest that a mouse family had built in the base of the unit (yuck!). He thought I'd be amused (I was) so he called me out to see it, and we vacuumed it out together. When he was done (about 2 hours later), the snowblower was running like a champ. Michael's a great guy and he knows his engines. He clearly gets great satisfaction out of a job well done. He let me know that he's an ASE-certified master technician and does mechanical engineering work when he's not fixing snowblowers. You probably can't find a more qualified person to fix a snowblower engine in the region. Michael finished up by giving me tips to care for the snowblower going forward. He said I'll probably get another 10-20 years out of it if I treat it well. I felt the price was fair, and saved me from buying a new $500-$600 snowblower. I hope I never need him again, but I'll call him if I do.

Update - Mike reached out to resolve the communication issues and we agreed on one more try. He came by our house while we were away and worked on our snow blower. He replaced the carburetor and tuned everything up. Advised we needed to order a new drive belt as ours was wearing thin. Communication was challenging but in the end he made things work.

Michael was easy to reach via Angie's List email. He also is good about texting. I had him do the repairs at my house and he came twice and got the old machine running. He took a lot of time and did a very thorough job. Very nice fellow who explains what he's doing and why. Reasonable prices and quality work. Highly recommended. Steve

Own a 300 lb Ariens snowblower and was not looking forward to borrowing a van and hauling it to a service center for a tune up. We were happy to find Michael did house calls. He was knowledgable, affordable, and professional. Great job and will definitely call on Michael again.

Mike was friendly and courteous and hard working and we were very happy with the work he did. It was very helpful that Mike was willing to come out to our house to fix the snowblowers since we didn't have a convenient way of taking them anywhere to be fixed - our cars are too small. Mike said snowblowers get gummed up inside if you leave fuel in them and that's generally why they stop working. He cleaned them out and put new parts in. He came twice: he had Sears parts so he was able to fix the Sears snowblower on the first visit. He ordered the Honda parts and fixed the Honda on his second visit. On his second visit Mike said he was available for handyman jobs and offered to look at our central heating which wasn't working properly. He noticed the water circulation pump for the gas boiler had stopped working and oiled it which fixed the problem. We paid $220 in total, about $200 of which I think was for the snowblower repairs.

I called Mike and explained my problem. I dropped off the lawn mower at his house, left a $50 deposit ($30 minimum required). Mike inspected the muffler screw hole and said that he would need to tap it. I also asked him to look at the pull start because it was very, very difficult to start the lawn mower. The lawn mower is about 11 years old and has never had any repairs or tune ups done. MIke said that he would have the lawn mower completed within 2 weeks and he kept his promise. The lawn mower works great. I am very, very happy with the repair and Mike's professionalism. I highly recommend his services.

I drove my Black & Decker electric mower to M&M and dropped it off. Mike did a quick inspection and handed me an estimate. The blade had come loose and was not rotating properly. He ordered and replaced 2 worn parts and cleaned the machine thoroughly. When I returned to pick it up today, Mike gave me a full explanation of the work he had done and showed me pictures of the yard debris that had accumulated inside the mower. He also showed me the repairs and gave me the worn-out parts. Mike is knowledgeable and easy to talk with. I'm happy to recommend him for lawn mower repairs.

The gentleman who is the owner of the company came to my residence and repaired our snowblower on site in approximately one hour. I contacted M & M repair in the morning and the repairman arrived by 12:30 p.m. the same day. He was very professional about his work and gave an excellent description of the problems with the snow blower and the recommended service. I will use this provider for my snow blower and lawnmower repairs and tuneups in the future.

After some operator error (I drove over an extension cord) I needed help with a busted snowblower. I called Mike and even though he was not available during the week, he walked me through the process should I want to try to fix it myself. This was very kind. But, I lacked confidence and waited until Mike was available on Saturday. He came out and got the machine back together again. He'll be back soon to add a new skid plate that he saw was pretty worn down. He was right on time and his price was very fair. The best part was that he explained everything to me and made sure I understood the best ways to keep things running in the future.

Excellent service and quality craftsmanship. Mike quickly diagnosed the problem with my snowblower, and suggested other deferred maintenance that he could also take care of. When the snowblower was finished, it literally worked better than it did even when brand new. The electric starter had burned out and he replaced it and also cleaned the carburetor and gave me tips on fueling and keeping the machine in good running order. The first time I used it after getting it back, it started with the manual pull on the first try in 15 degree weather, which it had never done before, even when new. It now runs cleaner and better than it ever has. Best of all, he was on budget and went above and beyond to make sure I was happy with the work.

Great friendly service by Mike. Came to my house the day after I called. Explained the pricing and ended up charging me the lower amount based on what actually needed to be done. Explained what was wrong and how to avoid the problem in the future. Would definitely call him again.

He came out to my home today when temperature was only 4 degrees and worked in my unheated garage for about two hours to take apart, diagnose and fix the electric starter on my snowblower. I was very happy with his service and would recommend him to anyone who has a problem with a small engine.

Fantastic service. I used Angies list to find Mike and asked if he could come out the next day before another big snowstorm. I heard from him within the hour. He asked for the model so he could bring the right parts and showed up at my home as promised the next day. Putting the auger back in place was easy for Mike, but he showed me how the weld had broken in the back of the unit and if not repaired I may have the same issue first time I caught snowblower on the uneven pavers on my drive. Mike ran to the hardware store (as the snowstorm was starting) and picked up a metal bracket to fix the broken area. He checked the engine and gave me some great tips on maintenance. I am pretty handy and can often repair things myself, but this was beyond my skills. Mike has a strong background in engine design and maintenance and I found him to be very trustworthy and credible. I plan to use him for annual maintenance on my mower and snowblower. After Mike left we had 6"+ of snow---I am very grateful for his quick resonse and friendly service!!!!

Mike was very responsive. On a very snowy day, we called him about our snow blower that was not functioning. Even during a very busy day, full of emergency calls, he called back right away. We arranged for him to come to our home to check out the snow blower. It is a large model, so we wouldn't have been able to bring it to him easily, so we appreciated that he would come to us. He arrived prepared for the job, as he asked for pictures to be texted to him ahead of time showing the model number and details from the plate on the snow blower. He even brought a part he thought he might need, although in the end, he didn't need it. He only provided the labor necessary - his quote was higher than what he ultimately charged, because the problem was simpler than expected; seems very trustworthy. Mike is knowledgeable and explained to us what we were doing that likely caused the problem - using old gas, and he instructed us about the additives to use to preserve the gas. Since the repair, we have used the snow blower 3 times and it starts on the first attempt!

Mike was friendly and professional in diagnosing and repairing my Toro snow blower that wouldn't start. He communicated effectively and went the extra mile to obtain a hard-to-find carburetor required. He also identified and replaced an inappropriate spark plug that a previous repairman had installed. The repair did take a couple of weeks, but it was during the holiday season, plus Mike had a family medical situation he was dealing with at the time. He's an independent guy who works out of his home, which enables him to charge less than a storefront shop. In addition to small motors, Mike also does auto repairs, although I haven't had any experience with him on that.

We bought a snow blower 2 years ago, and have used it less than 3 times. Both last season and this season we were not able to get it running - even after having all the fluids checked by another service provider. Michael came out and correctly diagnosed the problem. He is extremely knowledgable of the brands, including the fact that the maker of our model (Ariens) is generally very good, but several years ago they started using cheaper parts in the engine. As he checked further, he found extensive corrosion to be the source of the problem even though the unit itself is practically new. He disassembled the carburetor and completely cleaned it, then reassembled it and gave me very clear instructions on how to empty the fuel and the type of fuel to use in order to minimize corrosion in the future. He even left me with some of his own gas, which was a higher quality, to make sure we were ready for the first snow.
