Hannah's Plumbing & Maintenance

It went really well. The water mess happened on a Saturday before work. I found them on Angie's List & called them during the day to schedule it. They were friendly on the phone & also flexible about what timeframe they could come by that afternoon due to my work schedule. I mentioned my discount from this site & they said that depending upon what I needed done they'd work with me to get the best discount if there was a deal on a service or product. All good. Two men arrived promptly, were nice in person, & with shoe covers in hand. They assessed the pump in my basement & explained it wasn't a sump pump, but an ejector pump. One checked the pump & saw that the plug was somewhat out of the outlet. He pushed it back in & it resumed working. It seems my cat had knocked it loose. Ugh. Kudos to the 2 of them for not laughing. One of them said he was happy for me that that's all it was since a new ejector pump was pretty pricey. He explained I'd only owe them for a regular service call which I thought was more than fair for a Saturday - plus Angie's List discount. Instead of just leaving, they then proceeded to pick up all of the soaking wet towels off of the floor & mop the standing water into the drain. They then said they'd like to make this visit worthwhile & asked if there was anything else I wanted then to take a look at while they were there. I didn't have anything, so they looked around a bit & gave me some maintenance tips. I realized I'd never drained my hot water heater, so they showed me how to do it & drained it while I watched. I was very happy with their demeanor, promptness, flexibility, ease of scheduling, & effort to give me value for what turned out to only be the cost of a standard service call. I'd definitely contact them for any future plumbing needs.

Ed came over and looked at the problem. We have a lot of vintage fixtures in our building so he explained to me in great detail what he needed to get to do it right but since that would involve some travel time to a supplier in the city he recommended writing down everything for me so that I could get it in the next few days and call to have him come back so as not to have to charge me for all the time, which was great for me saving money. He did tell me what he could do to fix the problem for a good few months until we rescheduled for him to come back. He did a great job with that and then he also did a great job clearing the clogged tub which was really backed up. My tenant then told me about another problem with their kitchen sink that was going on that I had no idea about and Ed said he could also fix that while he was there. I also asked him if he could do a minor switch out of my old toilet seat with a new one and he said sure. I've used other plumbers in the past but in the last few years I've been using Hannah Plumbing and I have to say that I really like all the workers who have come and they have always done a great job and tried to keep the cost down if they could. I'm always amazed at what Ed can tell me about vintage pieces too and Greg runs a pretty great crew over there.

Work was done on February 20th during torrential rain. The two guys were prompt and courteous but after 45 minutes, could not clear the line with an auger. We were told initially that the charge was $350. Then we were told that they would have to get a high pressure water auger to clear the line and the price jumped up to $750. We agreed because it was raining hard and the sewer line was not draining. After another hour, the line was clear. The other thing that was very annoying is that they held onto our check for 2 months without cashing it.

Arranging the time to get the work done went ok. My main disappointment is in the plumber who was sent out. Clearly an experienced plumber and he did his job. But after asking him one question about a possible second service I required I was thereafter barraged with all that was wrong with supposedly many other plumbing issues in my house. Advice I did not ask for and wasted my time. Finally when It was time to pay he refused to give me the discount offer on their website because he said he spent more time on the job. There website does not say discount is tied to the length of job! Secondly, even though I mentioned to the person I spoke to on the phone that I got their service through Angies List, he did not offer the coupon advertised on Angies List either!

Very well. The plumber did an excellent job and was professional. They were 30% less expensive than another I considered on Angie's List.

This is the second time I have used their services. Both times with great results. The first time, a few years ago, no one could fix, but Hannah not only fixed the clog, but found a problem that was precipitating the issue. They made a recommendation with no pressure that I have not acted on yet, which is why I had problems again. My situation is a little more complicated because I live in a duplex. If you live in something other than a single family unit, I am sure you understand. But Hannah has been great about finding the problem quickly and fixing it!! Always handled with great professionalism!

Searched and found source of leak, originally thought and indicated by tenants as bathroom shower. Turned out to be the kitchen sink drain pipe, about 5 feet, had corroded and had multiple holes in it. Whenever kitchen sink was used, some water would run down the wall and end up downstairs on ceiling and window areas. Pipe was replaced and in addition slow running bathtub drains were also rooted out and a toilet operating unit was replaced. Originally hired to check where water was coming from but not only was source found but all work was all done in one day.

I’ve used these guys before and once again they exceeded my expectation. My sump pump wasn’t working, I called and they were at my house within 3 hours. These guys know their stuff. I’ve never had a problem with any work they’ve done. I highly recommend Hanna Plumbing

The work was done well and to expectation, but there was added expense for the cost of the parts that I expected was covered by the quote provided. Overall the work was of high quality and I am pleased to have it completed by Hannah's.

Local business, gave them a try a couple years ago with great success and satisfaction. Again used them. Quick, efficient, timely and explained what he was doing and why. The more I use them the lower the service charge. Perfect.

We've used Hannah Plumbing many times over the past 8 years. I called last week to schedule a time for someone to come out to snake our bathroom drain. We were told someone would be here today between 12:00 and 2:00 pm. My husband and I waited until 2 pm, then called Hannah to get an ETA on the plumber. The owner, Greg Hannah, got on the phone and said he and the plumber both called earlier in the morning but no one answered so they didn't come by. I had been out shoveling snow, but checked for messages afterward and there were none. I asked Greg, "Did either of you leave a message?" "No." I said, "If you say someone will be there between 12 and 2, shouldn't you send someone anyway?" He said, "No, we don't do that because people forget and we have alot going on." I told him politely that I didn't think that was very good customer service and he started to yell at me, at which point I hung up. Hannah Plumbing is now permanently gone from my phone.

I called on Saturday morning, because our laundry tub wasn't draining. I wasn't even expecting an answer, but someone picked up right away, said they'd contact a technician, and a got a call back within 5 minutes. 20 minutes later, he showed, and quickly cleared the drain. It wasn't cheap, but it wasn't as bad as I feared, given it was a Saturday call.

Took 5 hours for these guys to thaw my lines. I found out they kept switching lines after four hours of trying. Reason I asked was because neither line was warm. I told them to stick to one line. That’s what worked in past. Both lines thawed in next hour. Of course I then find out it’s $250 an hour and $350 for first hour because they have to use a $1,350 tool. But, because I’m a repeat customer I get $100 off. Ha! So, damage was $1,250. I had this work done in past by another plumber and they only took an hour. It was under $300 and I wish I remembered the company. If you need something easy, like a drain unclogged, go ahead and use these guys. Anything slightly complicated, don’t. Oh yes, forgot to mention. They had two guys doing this less than a one man job. They can keep my money, I won’t be using them again. I regret not asking how much it would be. Thought I could trust them since they unclogged drains for me in past for reasonable cost.

Was able to fit me in first thing in the morning, which I really appreciated. Arrived on time (actually earlier than estimated). Clog required some detective work, but rodding it out from the kitchen eventually worked. Getting into the pipe under the kitchen sink cracked part of the pipe and the J-bend. He was able to fix with a no-hub coupling and a PVC J-bend from the truck.

They were prompt, friendly and very professional. Job was done quickly and well and they cleaned up the area thoroughly. They had a special on water heaters (which was great) but their prices were still 10-20% below other companies we called. We've found our new go-to plumber.

Hannah's responded promptly and kept us informed about their plumber's arrival time. The plumber they sent was a former employee working as a contractor. Angel was both professional and personable, which reassured us in a difficult situation. As suspected, the problem was invasion of our main sewer line to the street by tree roots. (Our house was built in 1977.) On his initial visit, Angel used a water pressure device to make our toilets usable temporarily. He returned a couple of days later with a cutting device to achieve a longer-lasting fix. This cutting had to be done via access from our crawl space. The charge for these services was $473. Unfortunately, our house did not have an outside access port, which would have made the initial cutting both easier and more effective. To facilitate the prevention of future problems, we paid $3800 to have a port installed. (We also paid $150 for the DuPage County inspection.) Angel and a co-worker dug a pit over six feet deep in our front yard that necessarily was partly on our neighbor's lawn. After I was initially unable to communicate with the neighbor, Angel successfully reassured him. Angel finished up by performing a more effective cutting of the invading tree roots than was possible via our crawl space. All in all, I was very impressed with the professionalism and competence of Hannah's and Angel. It was a pleasure in particular to coordinate with Angel.

Great! Greg explained what was wrong and fixed the problem quickly. They even cleaned up after themselves.

Excellent! Of course no one wants unexpected expenses but I'm just glad it decided to act up when it did (no torrential rains). Plumber was on-time, estimated it would take an hour and it did. He explained what he needed to do and cleaned up afterwards. This is the 4th time I've used this company with no up selling of products.

It went well without a hitch. It was very expensive to get both done but that’s no fault of Hannah’s. They did a tremendous job at installing and keeping me informed on the entire process.

Issue was resolved within roughly 2 hours. The job went extremely well and the repairman was knowledgeable and friendly.

I called on the weekend about a concern and was delighted that the owner picked up the phone. He talked me through all the different possibilities of the issue. I scheduled to have one of his tech's come out to see me today, 9/27/17. Ed arrived on time and was fabulous about trouble-shooting what may be causing the issues. He was like a detective and really went through every possibility. Delightful. Ed really knows his stuff and I'm glad Greg could get him here today. We solved the issues. The stacks in the attic area look good, and the basement laundry room odor was caused by residue in my line from the laundry tub. He cleaned it out. I did use my 10% off Angie's coupon and was very impressed. So great to get a knowledgeable person the first time and solve the issue. I will use Greg Hannah Plumbing again. Thank you!
