M Walter Roofing Acquisition Corp

Everything went as expected, no surprises, no drama, no leftover mess. This is the second time we had used them and were again pleased with the whole experience.

Rain stopped of course. Rain came again and drip occurred inside area again. Called office and this time a foreman came out and started to find fault with fireplace chimney bricks away from leaks as cause also.  They located the issue and were able to resolve the problem.

What I was displeased with was the crew and the fact that they spoke almost no English so I could not talk to them. They left their lunch trash behind, despite the fact that my garbage and recycling bins were right there. They also moved some really, really heavy patio furniture and did not move them back.  Mostly irritating stuff but I didn't pay so I could pick up their garbage!

It went well.  Company sent a large crew who began work at about 8:00 a.m.  They removed old shingles and replaced with new.  Workers cleaned up and were finished before 5:00 p.m.  Roof looks good and we've had no leaks so far.

The work was done in a reasonable amount of time.

Very well, the crew was efficient and did a good job. Only one issue, when the crew chief came out to inspect the work he did not like how a portion of the gutter was hung and had it replaced.

They fixed some loose shingles and made sure everything was in order with the roof, and they did a great job on the tuckpointing.

They were okay. Since the patch work, we have not had any problems, but I will probably call them again to look at more areas. They were quick to respond to my calls. I feel like they did a good job with the work and I had no major problems at all.

They are great to work with and I really trust them. They come out right away when you call. One technician came out to do the work this last time and he was able to get it done within the afternoon. He did a great job on that and I would highly recommend them.

Everything went fine. I had no complaints. The work was done fairly quickly and one time. They came out shortly after calling, maybe within a day or two. They cleaned up well after the work was done and I would say a majority of the nails were picked up. They also removed all of the old roofing materials as well. I was happy with the service they performed.

They were great to work with. Scheduling went well and they were here on time and they were efficient. It only took about a half day to complete the work. They were easy to work with and I am ecstatic they were able to finally fix the leak in my roof. There were several other companies that tried to fix the leak and it never worked.

Walter Roofing put a new roof on our house 13 years ago. The roof now looks awful.  The shingles is curling and pealing off.  I contacted Walters Roofing and the original owner Phil came out.(Walters Roofing is now owned by another company, but Phil at that time still worked there.)   He said unfortunately the shingle company is in a law suit. He gave us the contact information and we were in hopes that we would be able to get some money back because 13 years and 5000.00 dollars later is just not long enough to me for a roof to last.  Unfortunately the shingle was not theirs and we got nothing.  We still had to have our roof done so we agreed to go with the same company.  They talked me into putting flashing on the house.  I didn't have this done before and never had problems but I wanted to trust them.  So the crew put up the roof, and the flashing.  When I came home I was really disappointed because they put a off cream color (trying to match my house i guess) next to a dark brown roof. It looked awful.  It stuck out like a sore thumb. I would of rather  of not put the flashing on.  Or I though they should of at least shown it to me before the put it up. 
Phil came out and I just didn't want to argue the fact.  But I was ready.  Phil, said. wow that is wrong.  So wrong.  I was so relieved that he felt the same way. He reassured me they will come back to put on Dark brown flashing to match better.  It took awhile but they finally did and I am much happier with it.  They never replaced the larger rain spout guard that I originally had there.  But, I guess we can do that.
Phil tried to keep the cost down for us.  It just killed me to pay for another new roof. So he said that the top flat roofing was fine and that didn't have to be replaced.  He only saved us money because of an area they didn't do.  But it saved us a bit of money.
I recently called the company back to say I am happy with the roof but still want to go after the shingle company.  And can they help me locate them.  They told me that Phil no longer works with them.  The woman on the phone seems to want to help us.  I hope so.  When you pay extra for shingles that are suppose to be under warranty for 30 years I expect a little more than what they offer to help.
I also want to say don't pay for the extra shingle warranty.  Phil told me that the roofing companies are not responsible for the shingles.  I said they should be because they decided which shingle company to go with.
The question above asked if I would go with this roofing company again??? I said yes but the real answer is maybe.  I does depend on how hard they help me with getting some satisfaction with the shingle company.  I still feel that a roofing company should stand behind their roof and that includes that shingles they chose to go with.

They came out and did the estimation for us and it was nice though their estimation was not complete and their reputation on Angie's List is not that good so I do not want to use a company with comments like those.

There have been some issues, but M Walter Roofing has generally been responsive. That being said, their communication is lacking at times because it can be difficult to reach anyone. The leaks I’ve experienced always appear in new spots, so once they repair an area the problem is resolved.  I do plan on calling them again in the next few weeks for more repair work.

We were very pleased with the work that was done. The site was cleaned up thoroughly. When I had to call them back out to address a leak, they were incredibly responsive. Overall, they are a very professional organization. Also, their bid was best out of three we received.

I thought they did a very professional, prompt job. The price was reasonable. Overall, I was happy with the experience they gave me.

I had a few problems, but the overall experience was ok. I felt that I really had to get on them to make sure they cleaned up after themselves thoroughly. Also, their salesman called me numerous times about my insurance check. I clearly communicated I was waiting to receive it, but he continued to call me about it repeatedly. That being said, I am happy with their work.

We were totally satisfied with our experience. They were very good about being responsive and professional.

Getting Phill Walter or anyone else to return your calls will be one of your biggest issues.

It took several weeks once we accepted their quote, for anyone to give us a projected timeline for completion of project. Once they came on site, they were very professional, and completed the work in a reasonable amount of time. The main issue up to this point is lack of communication.

The next time we had a particularly heavy rain, my roof was leaking again. I gave Phill a call, and it took weeks to get him to come out. When he finally came out, he climbed on our roof, did something, and said we should be all good. All seemed to be well, we kept an eye on the stains on the ceiling. A month or so after we repaired the ceiling, the leak was back. I have now called multiple times, and the only response I get is that they don't warranty repairs....

I know that roof leaks can be tricky to track down, and aren't always obvious. What I do expect is to have a company that is willing to help you out, instead of letting you deal with buckets every time it rains.

In 2001, I had a roof put on my home by M. Walter Roofing.  Almost from day one, I had problems with leaking in different areas.  The first leak was in the rec room where a vent was installed.  The leak marked my ceiling, but the leak was repaired.  Over the next several years there were more leaks, one on the front porch and another larger leak in my bathroom.  After many calls to M. Walter Roofing, I still did not have a roof that could be trusted not to leak when it rained.  I also had damage to the inner walls and ceilings in my house.  The last straw was in 2008 when a bad storm caused the water to pour down the walls of my bathroom and blow out an electrical outlet.  I also had a bucket on the from porch where the water was coming through the roof.  I called again and again and got nothing more than someone yelling at me from the other end of the telephone.  Finally, I called another roofer and within minutes of his looking at the roof, he told me that what was causing my problems was the poor workmanship.  He replaced my roof and repaired the other problems with the separate roofs on my porch and rec room.  I have not had a problem since.   I went on line to the Better Business Bureau’s web site and filed a complaint against M. Walter Roofing.    After filing the complaint and going back and forth the required number of times, nothing was resolved.  M. Walter Roofing blamed me for the problems.  The next option was to go to arbitration, so we went to arbitration and I won.  On May 5, 2009, I was awarded $6334.00.  And here is where I have the problem.  According to the bylaws of the BBB and the paperwork we signed, the results were to be legally binding on both parties.  By the BBB’s own bylaws, M. Walter Roofing was obligated  to pay me.  After 30 days, M. Walter didn’t pay me and instead of the BBB lowering his rating to Unsatisfactory until he paid me, they waited a month, and erased all the complaints against him and raised his rating to A and told me to take him to small claims court or find a lawyer.    Over the last several years, I have called and complained to every organization that I could think of to resolve this problem with no results.  Another roofer told me to try Angie’s List.  You are my last hope.    Today, M. Walter has split into two separate companies, one of which is M. Walter Roofing and the other has changed its named from M. Walter Roofing to Champion Roofing.  Both companies are run by Mr. Harry Friedman.  Mr. Friedman and Phillip Walter have been with this company since before my roof was replaced.    I would like to get the money back, but I also want to make sure that Mr. Walter and Mr. Friedman along with M. Walter Roofing and Champion Roofing never do this to anyone else.

They were very friendly and very nice. I had to laugh because I was trying to get feedback on the color of the roof I have and he is colorblind. He was really nice about it. He said he could help me with everything but he couldn’t help with the color. They were nice. It was interesting because my next door neighbor had their work done a few months before I had mine done and they went with a company that was significantly more expensive and were known in the area as the gold standard for roofing. He actually had more problems with his roofing installation than I did. I would use him again and I would recommend him.

I had a new roof installed 2007/2008 by M Walter Roofing which is still under warranty.  On September 24,2011 I begin calling
Champion Roofing the new owners of M. Walter Roofing to exercise my warranty rights and inform them of a leak in the kitchen.  I left several voicemails on cellular telephones/sales numbers and customer service numbers and did not receive a return call until Friday, September 30th when I was informed of a $150 trip charge to fix a roof under warranty; I find this unacceptable as this is not mentioned in my original contract.  The caller had not scheduled an appointment with me, yet wanted to come by as he was in the area on the 30th--if you are in the area servicing another client why am I being charged a trip charge.  Unfortunately I was not available to meet with the roofers as I was at work.  I called again today, Monday, October 3rd 2011 to request a Saturday appointment and to discuss the trip charge and warranty as was told someone will have to get back to me. 

Very well, they were awesome!

The actual roofing was of good quality; however the sheet metal work (soffits & facia) was not. I requested that it be corrected. A man came out, looked everything over and listened to my complaints, but never came back. I called the owner Phillip Walter asking when the issues would be addressed. He told me they couldn't find anything wrong and considered the issue closed. We had birds nesting in the gaps in the holes of the facia sheet metal!  I told him this, he told me to get a lawyer and hung up on me. He later denied this and still refused to correct the problems repeatedly saying there weren't any.  About 3 years after the work, the soffit metal on the south side of the house came off and had to be repaired by a different contractor as I was told the warranty on the sheet metal work had expired. I was given a 7-year warranty on the shingles. So far, we've had no problem with them.

I also filed a complaint with the Secretary of State and, unfortunately, didn't take detailed photographs of the work. M.Walter had someone come out and took wide angle, non-specific photos that didn't clearly show the issues. As a result, the Secretary of State ruled in favor of M.Walter. 

Regardless of the decision, I will never do business with M. Walter Roofing again.

The cost was significantly less than other roofers because they used a Bitumen product to cover the roof without having to tear off the old roof. The roof came with a 12 year warranty.Their workmen were professional, timely, and knowledgeable. I am very pleased with this company.
