Animal Grooming
- The Grooming Lodge has more than one location. The location where we went in Arlington Heights is not listed in Angie's List. I called the other location to make sure it was the same company.
- The first time we called, they would not take an appt. because they were closing early for the day.
- The next day, I brought my dog in and watched the manager yelling at the dog he was working on.
- When I picked up my dog, there was hair hanging off of him, and I could pull it out in big clumps.
- The manager told me he was charging extra for the flea/tick shampoo (costs more than regular shampoo?).
- I still added a $10 tip to the bill, bringing the total to $75.
- While we were leaving, I saw and heard the manager again yelling at a different one of the client dogs.
- When I got him home, I used a Furminator to pull out a shopping bag full of more hair.
- I called the manager and asked what kind of brush he had used and told him about the hair.
- He claimed "That's all the hair I could get out of him... He's a shedding dog."
- When I went back and spoke to the manager about the extra hair and showed him some of what I pulled out, he said that was "unheard of."
- He did not offer to do any further brushing or provide a refund or future discount of any amount, and I did not ask.
Summary: The low marks were for 1) poor undercoat removal, 2) yelling at dogs, and 3) poor customer service.
Bottom line: After paying $75 to have my dog brushed out, I had to go home and do it myself.
