We needed our brakes checked and were told the back brakes and rotors needed replacement. The work was completed and we drove the car home. The car was not driven again until later that evening. When I reversed from a parked position and drove forward the right rear had an awful, loud "clunk." Then it drove fine. My husband thought it might just be the new brakes adjusting. However, every time after that, the same sound would occur. I called Sterling the following Thursday and was able to bring it in on Friday. On that Friday, before I brought it in, the sound went from a loud cluck to an awful loud grinding noise. Long story short, they told me the right emergency brake needed replacement and it would be an additional $300.00+! When I said I thought it was ironic that they had just replaced the rear brakes and now the emergency brake needed replacement even though it was not touched, they agreed it was ironic. Because I know the emergency brakes need to be moved to fix the rear brakes, I can't believe they didn't notice the emergency brake needed replacement as well - especially since the part is only $75.00 and the labor is $200.00+. So much for their motto, "Integrity, honesty and trust - best warranty in town." We will not be returning to this establishment nor recommending to anyone.

Had the car towed to the shop when it wouldn't start. Estimated about $250 for oil change & fixing keyless start, and were able to complete the work for less. Had the car ready in less than 24 hrs. Great service.

My car was making some noise and it seemed like it was the brakes. I took it to Sterling Automotive to get the brakes replaced. After the daignosis they said it is the front brakes that need to be changed. I asked them specifically if the other brakes were ok they said yes. They charged me $400 for changing front brakes and to do oil change. 2 weeks later I heard some noise again. I was not worried if it was the brakes because it was under warranty according to Sterling Automotive. However when I went there they daignosed the car and said now it was the other brakes that were almost completey gone. I was perplexed. Instead of assuming that they were lying I tried to reason with them on why I should have replaced only my front brakes just 2 weeks back when my back brakes were almost gone. They never conceded that they were at fault at all and charged me $200 to replace the back brakes (the discount was because they wanted to keep me happy). Another 2-3 weeks later my "Check Engine" light has come on. I am not going back to them. Very disappointed.

My check engine light and ABS lights went on in my truck and it was riding badly. We bought it a year ago used and have had some bumps along the way. I called up a little nervous and asked if I could schedule time to bring my truck over and see if I needed a tune up and what was causing the ABS light. The owner got on the phone and asked me a few questions about how the car was riding, he asked me if I could bring the car over that afternoon because he could tell I did not feel safe on the road. He said there would be bo charge. When we got there our experience was fantastic! The owner took the time to explain to me our car had never had a tuneup, needed new wheel hubs, and discussed a few other things he found. He was very honest and took time to explain things to me in a way I (a non car person) could understand him. Our truck needs some work and I would not think of going anywhere ese. I found them on Angie's list and WOW I have never felt so comfortable with a mechanic! They earned a client for life.

Owner was engaged through the entire process. Paid attention to detail, told me about how they drove my cars. Clear communication throughout. I compared prices to Toyota and Lexus dealers and Sterling was much more favorable. Easy to speak with on the phone. Both cars were returned same day even though work was rather major. I liked how they were attentive to all details but easy to deal with and they know who you are. At Lexus and Toyota, they did not know who I was despite multiple visits there over many years. Nice touch at end was that they transported my car to a detailer close by to save me the extra trip.

I have been looking for a reputable auto repair shop for sometime and signed up for Angie's List primarily for this reason. Every time I went to my old place I came home with a list of $500 - $1000 in "recommended services." In my opinion, what I could do to my car and and what I need to do are two different things. For example, I could put new brakes/tires on my car, but if I can get 6-12 mos out of my exisiting ones, then I want to do that. The people at Sterling are very firendly and professional. Fixed what was worng with my car and did not try to sell me additional unneccessary stuff. I will definitely go back!

The experience was so so. Their price was much higher than the company that I eventually chose. Their diagnostic fee was also higher than I originally got it done for.

I have brought my SUV into Sterling many times over the years and i always receive the best quality of service every time. My brakes needed to be replaced and it was done at a great price and in a timely fashion. I appreciate their professionalism when explaining in detail what exactly needs to get done to make sure my SUV is completely safe....I would highly recommend Sterling to all my friends and family. I was sending my son back to school and I wanted the car checked all over. We got an oil change, fluids, tires checked etc. to get him on the road. We were suspicious of the brakes and asked that they be checked. Sterling said- let's do the fronts, but the backs would be fine for several more months. I felt really good knowing that they were looking out for my son's safety, but not looking to do more work than was needed. I saved some money and gained peace of mind. this is an honest business.

I have a hybrid which takes different oil and some places will charge you more, but they held right to their pricing. Very friendly, know what they are doing, and did the work quickly.

I had taken my car to Naper Auto works the day before for the same issue. Naper auto had quoted me $2600.00 for a transmission rebuild and had taken 8 hours to diagnose. I decided to take the car back to my usual trusted mechanics at Sterling for a second opinion and they found that there was just a minor repair needed to replace the speed sensor. They charged me $130.00 and were done in 3 hours. I have been using Sterling automotive for the last 4 years for other car repairs. They have always been honest, quick and reliable.
