"I was contacted by the homeowners in October 2013, to do an entryway, hall, 2 bedrooms and a living room. They told me that another painter had backed out of the job and needed it done before Thanksgiving. This should have been my first clue. They also needed 2 extensive ceiling cracks and various wall repairs done. I did notice that there were stickers all over the walls in the living room and hall, which signified repairs. I agreed to do the wall repairs at no charge and would only charge for the ceiling cracks. I also noticed floor damage on the wood floors in the living room. The homeowner told me that it was from a rug that she had on the floor. We were supposed to start on a Friday in November 2013. I contacted the homeowner and told her that both my painters were sick from doing an exterior for the last 3 weeks and they could not start until Monday. The husband called screaming at me and using very foul language on the phone. He told me that he did not care if my painters were dying. I informed him that we would start on Monday, and that I would lower the total price from $1,350.00 to $1,250.00. Monday evening the husband called me again screaming and using very foul language, telling me that his ceilings should have been painted. I informed him had there were more stickers all over the place and the repairs are taking a long time to repair and prime. Again, he told me that he did not care. We also had to call the alarm company because they insisted that we paint under the alarm system, 2 hours downtime. Every time that they would do a repair and paint a wall, the homeowner would put more stickers all over the newly painted walls. Some walls had 3-4 coats of paint on them and the ceilings 2-3 coats. They finished the same week on a Thursday night, and my painters told me that the homeowners were happy. Friday the homeowner informed me that they were not satisfied. I sent my painter on Saturday to touch up, reclean and do anything what the homeowner needs. After 12 Hours, the homeowners did a walk through and told my painter that everything looks very good. Sunday, I received an email from the home owner that we will need to redo everything again and that the wood floor in the living room was scratched. My painters refused to go back and resigned the same day. I sent my other crew the following Saturday to look at it, and we all agreed that we will redo all of it room by room. Upon starting the following Wednesday my painters were immediately screamed at, harassed and sworn at. The homeowner also told one of my painters that the living room floor was scratched because he dragged a refrigerator from the kitchen to the living room, because they needed to clean. We always use drop cloths, plastic and rubber feet on all ladders. When my painter called me and informed me of the situation, I told them to pack up and leave. I did not take any money from the homeowners. No deposit and no final payment. I wrote off over $450.00 in paint and material and over $1,200.00 in labor."
