Generally very well.  There was some delay in getting the actual estimate from the time it was measured and evaluated.  More than 2 weeks for the estimate, which seemed long to me.  When demo commenced there was an additional layer of siding that needed removal.  Also, the sheeting was insufficient on the house and non-existent on garage, so both structures needed to be sheeted in plywood, adding days to the project.  There were 13 windows as part of the project.  The bathroom window came in too large (never learned if it was measurer or manufacturer that made error)  This caused delay because one side could only be partially sided while we waited for replacement window (about 2 weeks).  Garage windows also came too large, but rough opening was able to be enlarged slightly.  One sash came with cracked glass but was installed while awaiting replacement sash.  I was generally satisfied but can't give a full "A" due to windows coming in wrong.  Also clean-ups could have been more thorough.  I used a magnet roller at day's end and found a couple pounds of nails from demo every day.  Also, on inspection day, there were numerous touch-ups needed that took 1 man an entire day.  Would I use them again?  Yes.  First not everyone has the expertise for this material; cement board siding.  Some installers are afraid of it, and requires special tools and knowledge.  Secondly, despite some setbacks, they geniunely made good on everything and I believe sincerely care.  I think issues could be mitigated by a little more presence by the salespeople and better organization/communication.  Supervisors came every 3 days or so.  Every day might have been better.  My house is a good distance from the company but I know they had other jobs relatively near.  Some of those jobs may have been larger scale than mine and could have been an influence.  James Hardie product itself is outstanding with unbelievable warranties.  They have a great website with photos and interactive design to try out colors.  (We changed from white with black trim to a light green, with cream colored shakes for an accent portion and white trim.)  It's also a green product with possible tax benefits.  The crew that did the gutters were excellent.  Finished in a half day, very efficient and clean with no quibbles about the finished work.  If your committed to the process, cut a core sample to see how many layers of siding and what sheeting material is.  Company is reluctant to do so as they were taken advantage of by an opportunistic customer but if I could have done so, more time could have been budgeted and sheeting plywood ordered and staged to save time.  Pricing was reasonable although this product is more expensive than vinyl or aluminum.  The extra sheeting did add to cost but this is all spelled out in contract to protect both consumer and company.

I called to see if they would come out and take care of a roof leak (that was noticed by my HVAC company) - and install a special design of gutter guards on my garage gutters.  They came immediately and took care of the leak - and went up on the garage roof and installed the gutter guards.  They were punctual, professional, and did a great job.  Easy to work with!

We are SO happy with all of the work they did. Our house looks so great. Edgar Gonzalez was our project manager and I cannot recommend him highly enough. He helped us make all of our color/design decisions with no pressure, coordinated all of the different components of our job, and came to check in on the project in person and on the phone continually to be sure we were happy with everything. His direct number at d-wing is (815) 517-5536.

I met with  Edgar Gonzalez to evaluate if the hail damage was substantial enough to report a claim to the insurance company.  His vast experience with dealing with the insurance company was so valuable.  He met with the adjuster and we were approved for  a new roof, gutters and downspouts.
The job was completed  in a timely manner.  Mr. Gonzalez was always available to answer all questions and had  extensive knowledge about all areas of construction.    When delayed by the weather, he was able to give us a reschedule date ,  always keeping in close communication with us and the installation crew.  The project went smoothly and the yard was cleaned up of all debris. Customer satisfaction was D-Wing Construction's goal as Mr. Gonzalez explained and he did all he could to achieve it.
Dave Mirra, the president of D-Wing, Inc. sent a thank you letter with a gift because I referred  a family member and neighbor. That was very generous and thoughtful.

I dealt with Brian Rose. He is a very nice guy and wants to get things right.

The problem is, he wasn't on the job site watching his contractors. His siding crew didn't speak English or didn't want to, so there was a lack of communication. I was promised a highly professional crew and job. What I got was a crew that new how to demolish things but didn't know how to fix what they pried off. Instead of removing the screws from the utility boxes, they were pried off and all the screws were lost. All outlet screws were lost. When they replaced screws they used drywall screws for everything including the door bell and electrical boxes. I had to re-tap screw holes and repair many things. The caulk job was very poor and when I had them re do it the same spots were missed. I ended up re caulking it myself.

The siding guys told me they caulked the holes on the roof from their jack stands. When I checked the roof nothing was filled in.

The gutter guys tore 4 screens, cracked a siding corner and tore some fascia and left rust marks and pry bar marks on other fascia.

Another crew came to fix the cracked corner, instead of removing and replacing it the crew tried to cover the cracked piece with a new piece.

No one on his crews want to take responsibility for anything they damage. Unfortunately I had to do a lot of yelling and screaming over the phone to get some action.   Brian gave a $500.00 reduction for some of the work I had to repair.

I was very disappointed in the quality of his crews and of the labor. They are not detailed oriented at all.

Brian wants to correct problems but these problems should not have happened and I didn't want his crew back again.

I saved photos of many of the errors.

From the first phone call to Dave Mirra, until we wrote the final check, was stellar!  Our house is in Aurora, IL but we were living in Texas, thus coordinating with our renters for the initial inspection and dealing with the insurance adjustor was borne upon the contractor, PRIOR to ever signing a contract with D-Wing.  Dave Mirra pointed out additional damage from the storm and informed the adjustor- all went smoothly.

Communication was very good, and in fact, Dave even met with us at our house on a Sunday, as we had flown in from Texas, and he took time away from his family to accommodate us.  Since my husband is an engineer, he had very technical questions and requests.  Dave handled those issues very professionally.

All work was done on time during a very busy season for storm damage.  Further, the work completed was top notch.

Apparently, after the storm, there were swarms of roofers going door to door trying to get signed contracts. D-Wing does not solicit door to door, but instead works from referrals.  In addition, D-Wing does not cut side deals to save the homeowner their deductible.  They are an honest and company that goes the extra mile to earn their fine reputation.

The experience we had with Dave Mirra and D-Wing will likely the best contractor experience we have ever had.  Many neighbors had the same damage as we did, but a few neighbors didn't do their homework before signing a contract.  D-Wing passed the initial "smell test" and actually delivered what was contracted.  We would absolutely use them again and refer them to others.

After numerous attempts (this is been an ongoing issue), unfortunately the leak prevails.  I have had several roofers out to try to get rid of this problem, most of them with over the top suggestions and over the top money.  D-Wing actually came out several times and did the best they could.  I do bellieve there is more at stake.  I would certainly recommend them, they were very pleasant and I did what they could, and I will use them myself in the future.  They did not charge me, which was totally unbelievable.

Brian, We just wanted to take this time to thank you for all you've done to make our house look beautiful. Not to mention our "gazebo" that turned out awesome!, and much nicer then we ever anticipated. We know you've done many (too many to count) "extras" for us and we certainly appreciate it, along with your dedication to our project, attention to detail and overall good customer service. Although this project dragged on for months we are extremely thrilled with the results. We will certainly keep D-Wing stored in our phones and will refer all of our friends. We hope you have a wonderful Christmas and take some much needed time off for your family. Thanks again, The Lagvankars

I set up an appointment with Brian Rose to come out and look at an old sliding glass door in my house. I want to remove the door and put in either a bay window or two regular windows. I wasn't sure how to go about this process and I had a lot of questions about it. Brian was great at assisting me with all of my questions and making sure I understood the whole process. He was able to give me a quote on both types of windows that I am looking into.
Brian was very knowledgeable about the windows, repairing the inside of my house, and fixing the siding on the outside of my house. I am looking forward to starting this project come Spring and cannot wait to have Brian assist me along the way. I know that eventually I will also need to change my ugly blue siding and I will definitely be in contact with Brian to help me with that as well.
I will definitely tell my friends and family to give D-wing a call if they are looking to fix up their houses.

D-Wing has been great to work with.  They were responsive when we called, and came out quickly.  The crews have worked quickly but competently, and They have exaplined what they are doing and why changes had to be made.  They noted other issues (cracked boards, bent tracks, etc.) and fixed things as needed.  Brian has responded back whenever I have called, and has done a good job explaining how the work will be done.  Dan the Garage Door man was great - he came back and fixed a problem with the door at 7pm on a Saturday night.  Just waiting on the windows and painting.
Certainly would recommend D-Wing to anyone.  One important selling point - they don't solicit door to door.  A great plus after the hordes of contractors coming through the neighborhood after the hail storm.

Edgar Gonzalez handled everything from our first meeting, to communicating with our insurance company, to scheduling and managing the actual construction.  He was courteous and professional and was extremely patient in answering all of our questions since this project was an insurance claim due to hail damage to our home.  Everything has happened on schedule, and the few delays related to weather were communicated to us ahead of time.  So far the project quality has been outstanding (still have siding left to finish) and the crew has been extremely efficient in their work, including post project clean up!
We have had a lot of companies knocking on our door and telling us that they can handle our insurance co. and get us a claim for a new roof, etc.  Honestly, most of them are blowing smoke or you just can't can't trust them, but the guys at D-Wing get it done!

Dwing Roofing
Thank you for the first class job on our new roof, soffits and gutters.
We had multiple companies come out to bid on our project. It was amazing the price range different companies came up with for the same job. A roof is a major investment and cutting corners to save a few dollars should not be an option with your roof, any contractors that suggest shortcuts or do not use reputable materials or the price is lower than everyone else, you should pass. Dwing by far out classed all the other contractors who bid on our project.
Dwing did not only offer a competitive bid for our project they pointed out issues other companies never even saw! They were upfront with us stating that once into the project and the roof was off there could still be issues. They gave us the whole story about replacing bad or rotted boards or if they found other issues they would need to be addressed, they do not just cover them up under a new roof.
In short, if you want the best then call Dwing first! Honest, reliable, professional, clean, etc... Cannot find enough good words to describe Dwing the company and staff!
Sincerely,
Chad Zipse

I could not be happier.  I had been introduced to Dave, the owner, by a friend of mine who also uses D-Wing for his commercial work.  Dave came out and assigned Robert to work with me, and Robert did an incredible job.  Because of all the different types of damage the storm caused to my property, I needed someone that was not only top in their field for the Roof work, but that could also take care of the entire project, end to end.   With Robert, Dave and D-Wing, I was able to turn get all the work performed, on time and on budget, and up to code with all permits etc.
In addition, the crews D-Wing brought were all very polite and professional.  Roofing, Painting, Windows...all of the people working for D-Wing were enjoyable to deal with.

The house sustained several areas of missing shingles down to plywood and areas of missing siding. Story starts with me calling my insurance company who told me to get 2 quotes, being in the construction industry I figured no problem. After contacting about a dozen companies (not exaggerating here) and spending hours meeting with contractors I was unable to obtain a singe quote. I am still to this day unsure if it was because I had mentioned it would be an insurance covered project or maybe the name of my insurance company sent them running but again no numbers. I proceeded to ask my insurance company for help and of course they do not get involved. I proceeded to make more calls and come a cross Steve with D-Wing. Steve spent a great deal of time with me and saved my behind by letting me know I was responsible for emergency tarping. Had he not done this for me before the adjustor came out I would have had to replace the roof out of pocket. He also gave me great ideas on how to relocate the existing faded siding to areas of the house not as visible so all the new siding looked correct, ideas no other contractor gave me. After getting the quote from Steve I submitted it to the insurance company and they sent out their adjustor. I figured my headache was about over. After getting the check from the insurance company I was insulted and in shock and once again in panic as they decided to repair the damaged areas. Myself along with Steve found this unacceptable as the roof would look goofy with new shingles next to 15 yr. faded shingles. Steve being an ex-adjustor himself told me how to call and deal with the insurance company and what my rights were as far as re-inspections. Steve insisted on meeting the adjustor out there as I could not make it. At the end of the day Steve had worked with the adjustor and convinced him that the work would be a dumb idea and that they should at minimum replace the entire south face of the roof. Finally Steve gave me some payment options and schedules of when the work would be performed as I also had to deal with the village for code violations for the duration of the emergency tarping as the insurance process took longer than expected due to inadequate credits. Finally the work was scheduled to be performed again being in the construction industry and having to deal with our workers there are just certain things I know not to expect from construction workers. Upon the start of the job I met the guys they were more than courteous and professional to me and my family. The area was cleaned up every night and debris and nails removed as this was important to me with my children in and around the yard. I can't say enough about the quality and professionalism of the employees and can't tell you how Steve went to bat for me again and again when no-one else would return a phone call. As far as Steve is concerned he is extremely well informed and passionate with all aspects of his work. When a person loves their job you will never be disappointed with the results. In the end everything was top notch and as much time as Steve spent trying to rectify my situation I feel a little bad knowing this cut into his profit margin and the company did not make as much as they would have without all the headaches (we all have to eat right?). With that being said it seemed that the destructiveness of my situation superseded any dollar amounts involved and my costs never went up. I believe Steve was more passionate about helping someone in need more than the dollars involved I guess you call that passion. Again I know the costs and many companies in the construction industry and there are not many companies out there with that set of values anymore. I don't normally rate most things as perfect because things seldom are, but I just can't remember anytime in this process where Steve left me guessing or not sure of the outcome, we were going to get and do what was right. I promised Steve that I would refer him to anyone I know he showed his appreciation and promised to make sure they were as satisfied as myself. I don't make many recommendations these days as I have learned you just wind up loosing friends. I don't feel that to be the situation recommending D-Wing. Good Luck with all your projects and save yourself a lot of time and BS promises from others, Call Steve with D-Wing first he will make things right.

We had such a tough time getting this storm damage taken care of. Over the past year, we had 3 contractors say they could work with us, only to have them never call us again. It seems that my insurance company is difficult to work with and it would not have been worth the time and effort for them. I was referred to Steve Hannon of D Wing construction by a friend of mine at work. What a relief! He helped my husband and I navigate the beurocracy of insurance claims and got us the best reimbursement possible. He was always ready and available to answer our questions and I felt that he really cared about us and we were never treated like just another job. I am so relieved that we have a dry basement, and the sliding door is amazing! Not to mention the facelift our house has received with new siding and shutters. The quality of the work done is excellent. I would highly recommend this company!

My roof was damaged by a hail storm this spring.  D-Wing came to do the repair.  Edgar Gonzalez, was very courteous and professional and took care of everything from the estimate to working with my insurance agency to help pay for the repair.  Edgar also kept us informed of weather delays caused by the rain.
The crew was efficient and finished the job in under two days.  The new roof looks great and there was no damaged to our newly planted flower beds. They also did an awesome job with the clean up.
I would recommend D-wing to anyone with exterior construction needs.

I needed a roofing/siding contractor after a hailstorm caused significant damage to the exterior (roof, siding, gutters, fascia, etc.) of my home and all of the homes in the area.  There were numerous contractors going door-to-door, soliciting business the days following the storm.  I decided to take the time to thoughtfully select the best contractor.  I made an excellent choice in selecting D-Wing!!  I wanted a contractor who was trustworthy and honest, used quality materials, ensured quality installation, and had the skills/commitment to interface effectively with the insurance company.  D-Wing, and my contact, Steve Hannon, delivered above my expectations!  Steve was not only my initial contact but remained my single point of contact throughout the project.  He is a true professional dedicated to his customer and quality results.

The roofing and siding installation crews were top-notch.  They were prompt, courteous, high-quality professionals!  This work created a lot of debris and mess, but the area around my home was left spotless.  Steve was present each morning and evening that the work was being done, and I was so impressed with the relationship he had with the installers.

D-Wing uses the highest quality materials.  I was amazed at other contractors? proposals to complete the work, for the same price, but with much lower quality materials.  Steve made suggestions to improve the way the roof was installed; for example, by using ridge vents vs. turtle vents.  He communicated very effectively throughout the process, not only with me, but with the insurance company.  I was kept well-informed throughout the project.  No surprises!!  Good communication, along with the quality of the materials and installation, resulted in a high degree of trust.  I?m sure that is not something often said about home improvement contractors!!

Bottom line...you will not go wrong with D-Wing.  I highly recommend them, and I would not hesitate to use them again
