On Monday the 21st, the coldest day of the winter, our furnace broke during the afternoon.  It wasn't until late that evening that we notice that the house had cooled down to 62 degrees.  It was after 9PM and we really didn't want to pay for an emergency service call so we left a message on their voice mail and it stated that they open at 8AM.
On Tuesday at 7:50, our phone rang and they set up an appointment for that day between 10AM and noon.  The tech came out and diagnosed the problem as a burnt out blower motor.  They gave us an estimate and had the part delivered from their office.
While waiting for the part, the tech cleaned the furnace and condensate drain.  It was about 1PM when the furnace was turned back on and the house was down to 52 degrees.
Ibbotson does a great job and is highly recommended.

We were delighted with the service and professional looking result. Work began and completed on time. Drop clothes were used during the entire process. Installed mechanicals were plumb, square and flush as appropriate. The workers collaborated with me to resolve an underrated electrical circuit issue. Clean-up was satisfactory and all debris was removed from the premises.

They showed up and found a part was not working.   They said that it was possible to repair with a new part.  A different contractor tried to tell me that I needed a whole new furnace for thousands of dollars.  Instead Ibbotson fixed it for 200 bucks! Thanks goodness I called Ibbotson.  I will always use them.

We had a problem with a previous heating company installing/repairing things incorrectly and checked Angie's List for someone else.  Ibbotson Heating Co. came to our rescue providing prompt and accurate work and a reasonable cost.

From the first contact call to the final payment we found the serviceman to be prompt, congenial, knowledgeable, efficient, instructive and clean.  We mostly appreciated the instruction he gave in order to help avoid a re-occurrence of the problem.

Very well, complete cleaning and service of both furnaces and a/c units.  Minor repairs at no charge since I'm on the service contract. Annual price for service contract reasonable

I contacted Ibbotson by phone first and was impressed with the level of professionalism and detailed information on their pricing.
Scheduled and appointment and was told I would receive a phone call when the tech was on his way.
Tech did phone to give my notice he was on his way and arrived right at the scheduled time.
The tech, Eric, was very courteous and professional and diagnosed our problem instantly.  Work was completed within a couple of hours with no problems.

The day of our service, Ibbotson called to tell me the service man would be there shortly......and he was.  Dave was very nice and professional and serviced our air conditioner.  We inquired about the "Performance Package" I heard advertised while on hold waiting to make this appointment, and Dave explained it to us and signed us up - Furnace , Humidifier and Air Conditioner maintenance for 1 year.  We call them for this work anyway, and the contract gives us a discount for the service.  All in all it was a very easy, pleasant experience and we would certainly recommend Ibbotson to everyone!

Ibbotson took a straightforward job and performed it in a straightforward manner.  This is notable only because it seems so many businesses don't. The 18 year old air conditioning at my mom's house started blowing warm during the heat wave last Friday.
I'm fairly handy and I did the usual things - checked to see how dirty the coils were, shut it off so it could reset, looked at the filter, ran a hose over it, etc. and it still blew not so cool air. I came to the conclusion the system needed a recharge. A fairly simple process but one I don't have the tools or expertise for.
Based on other reviews here and the fact that they are local, I called Ibbotson. They said they could have someone out right away since my mom is a senior. It wasn't necessary, her downstairs was cool and if things got bad she could *gulp* stay with me.
In any case they said they could have someone out Monday morning. I agreed.
The Ibbotson service man fixed the air conditioner without a song and dance or upcharges and offered some suggestions on how to maximize efficiency and keep the old thing running decently for a while longer.
In short, their service man was informative, thorough, helpful and courteous. He took the time to explain things to my mom and seemed happy to do it.This was an exemplary piece of work and based on this experience I wouldn't hesitate to use Ibbotson again.
The only reason they get a 'B' on the price is because it was slightly more expensive than I anticipated. I understand though that AC gas and parts are particularly high now, so it probably isn't their fault.
Whether it is or isn't - you get what you pay for and I would prefer to use them over another company which might be cheaper.They were thoroughly professional from the first phone call until the time their service man left. While he was there he went above and beyond by explaining what he was doing and giving my mom tips on how to keep her house cool and keep the old AC unit running. If this were me, I might not bother to review, but someone takes good care of your mom, you know, you notice and appreciate it.
Note: I called just now to get the name of their service man and their phone has been busy for a while. Apparently they're getting a lot of work, so probably quite a few people are happy with them.

Got quotes from 3-4 places.  All quoted roughly same size / capacity of units.  The Ibbotson quote wasn't the lowest, but it was close, and we liked that they were local, didn't subcontract, and seemed very knowledgeable (and were highly rated on AL).   They said they could do the job in 2 days, and did so, even though they faced some difficulties - a small furnace closet, and access to a hard to get at (and to work in) crawl space.  The two-man team worked well together and were very efficient and thorough in their work, and took time to explain the new units' operation and answer any questions we had.  No muss, no fuss.  Been enjoying a nice cool house through another Chicago area heat wave.  Would certainly use Ibbotson again.

Everything is fine. The furnace is fine. There are some things that need to be worked out. The way the air is distributing throughout the house is off, some rooms are cooler than others. So, I'm going to have to ask them about that.

It went very well.  They were very knowledgable and they came out to help me pick out the right models to fit the house.  They did everything on time, they got here when they said they would, and the quality of the workmanship was outstanding. I had three other big companies come out, and Ibbotson was the best option.

They are good.  They are fair and cordial.

We really liked them.  I was really impressed with the serviceman they sent because he was the only worker that has come to our house who put on booties to protect our floors.  He was very tolerant of my cat and baby.  It was really great.  We had a recommendation from my Dad for a place to come and fix our heater.  All they did was hit the reset button and left. It broke again after a couple of days.  The guy who came out for us this time actually identified what the problem was and fixed it.

They actually had to redesign it because it was running through the cement.  They came up with new solutions, which worked great.

They were wonderful. One of the guys needed a part, so he went to purchase it to put it in. I have nothing bad to say about this company.

I signed up for an appointment on their website early morning of when the problem occurred and they promptly called when they opened and set an appointment up for the same morning. The technician that came out was an absolute "Rock Star", never before have I gotten better service in my life. He went over everything with my furnace and went way above and beyond any expectations I have had. Customer for life. Everything is working perfectly.

They were wonderful and they came when I needed them.  I choose them because they had good ratings on the website.  They were fantastic and great.  He said he'd be there at 1 o'clock and he rang the door bell at 1 o'clock.  They even called about fifteen minutes before that and said he's going to be there at 1 o'clock.  I called them originally because I had a gas leak as I could smell gas and wanted to get the furnace cleaned.  The woman I talked to on the phone said that they had a big backup because its fall for cleaning but she said she would have somebody there at 1 o'clock to check for the gas leak.  They put me down for like a month and a half later to clean when they had time.  They were out that day and I've never had them before.  He was here for about an hour and a half and checked the gas leak.  They came back later to clean at the scheduled time.  They have also scheduled to come back in the spring to do my air conditioner.  From now on they are the ones I'm going to use.  They cleaned up too which I loved.

I contacted Ibbotson Heating Company after another company had come out to clean my boiler and had recommended some pricey repair/replacement.  I wanted a second opinion.  Ralph, the owner of Ibbotson Heating contacted me promptly to get some background information on what the other company had suggested.  He said he would send Brian out, free of charge, to take a look and see what, if anything, was necessary.  Brian listened to my story about what the servicemen from the other company had told me.  He shared that what had been suggested was not at all necessary.  He further educated me about my low pressure boiler by answering all my questions about my chimney, the chimney transition, the flue pipe, the expansion tank, pressure relief valve and relief pipe.  He shared that the only concern he had was that the relief pipe was releasing too much water and that my expansion tank needed to be emptied.  During the time he emptied the expansion tank and analyzed the system, we talked about the efficiency my my entire heating system.  I was so relieved that I had found a company that I could trust and, furthermore, loved my old house again when I knew that my boiler had lots more life in it and that my heating system was working just fine and in a safe manner.  I will be recommending Ibbotson Heating Company to all my friends and work colleagues.  I am highly recommending Ibbotson Heating Company in Arlington Heights, IL to all who are reading this on Angie's List!

I called Ibbotson today at 2:45. They said a repairman would be out in 45 minutes or less. I was quite surprised. I had expected to set up an appointment for next week. Their guy, Eric, was here in less than 45 minutes.
He found the problem - a clogged port. He also showed me that the pad was not working well and I OK'd replacing that. I was a little concerned because ARS*RescueRooter (supposedly) replaced that pad about 6 weeks ago and charged me $50 for the pad.
Eric charged me $15 for the pad (which is in line with what I can get it for online).
Eric was done in less than 1/2 hour and our humidifier is working great. He was polite and professional.

They were very nice and very polite.  Everyone tends to talk down to women and I was out there immensely and they didn't.  Their responsiveness and punctuality was very good.  They were very professional.
