It took them two weeks to even look at the mower after promising 7 days at most. I had to bribe them to get to the top of the list during the second week. I have a relatively new mower. I changed the spark plug (which I bought from them) myself. I cleaned the air filter but then thought it must be bad gasoline since I did not run it out last season. I suggested to them it might need a carb clean out. This was supposed to take a few minutes to preform. Once they got sick of me talking with them they supposedly cleaned the carburetor and replaced the kit, also a spring. I was called to come pick it up. The next day I ran the mower. It ran for 20 minutes and stopped. We took it back in to the shop. Jason (I think he is the owner) completed a work order and then decided to look under the hood--so to speak. The spring was gone again. He said they used the last spring they had and it would take weeks to get a new one. The reason for the delay is the distributor has a $12 charge on any orders under X and the spring I need is about $2.00. In the meantime they gerryrigged another spring (larger) on my mower so I could finish the job. Now we think they probably did not need to clean the carburetor and gave it a cursory review but charged labor for almost 2 hours anyway.
Description of Work: Mower would not start after running for about 20 minutes. They cleaned out the carburetor (supposedly changed the kit) and added a spring.

Murphy’s Repair in Sandpoint, Idaho = Destruction and theft of Property 5-30-2013 My husband took my 10 year old son's riding lawnmower (which he purchased himself with his jar of earned and saved money last year) to Murphy’s Repair Inc. to see if they could fix it because he doesn't have the time to do it. No work was supposed to have been done without prior approval and my husband called them to check up on it and they decided to jump in and do some work (without approval) and the mower still wasn’t running. They told us to come pick it up because they couldn’t repair it. They tried to charge us for an hour's worth of work (they replaced the battery and the brand new solenoid that my husband had just replaced). When we went to pick it up, they took the battery out, took the solenoid too, didn't give us the parts they took out of it originally and somehow in the whole mess they made of the lawnmower, there is no ignition switch now. They have completely ruined my boy's mower and it's going to cost even more now to replace the parts that they didn't put back. They have ruined a 10 year olds first attempt at getting his business going. (As far as I am concerned they stole those parts because they were not put back nor given to us). If you want to keep your machines in good order or even just kept in one piece, DO NOT TAKE IT TO MURPHY’S REPAIR in Sandpoint, ID.
Description of Work: Tore apart my son's lawnmower.
