Progressive Property Management

It should be noted that around 2009 this company changed hands, so the original owner was not involved when we had this recent bout of unfortunate events, and up until July 15, 2012, we thought everything was going fine. However, the rent didn't get paid in July and then the neighbors tracked us down to let us know the yard hadn't been taken care of in months and our house was becoming the neighborhood eyesore. The property manager sounded offended during a phone conversation when we asked him about these things. The person the property manager contracted to remove a dead tree from the front yard failed to remove the stump and the PM didn't do anything about it after we had specifically requested in the beginning that the stump be removed. The tree was dead because the tenants failed to water the yard. The rent also didn't get paid in August, and the tenants were evicted. The house was a mess and we've spent nearly $10,000.00 getting it back in shape. We've since learned that this company doesn't require anything of its prospective tenants other than a residence history and proof of employment. No credit check, background check or anything. We have ended our relationship with this company, although because the unpaid rent was turned over to collections, we'll still have to deal with them on some level. Maybe we expected too much, but when you live out of state, you hope that someone will care enough to keep your investment in good shape. We cannot in all good conscience recommend this company for managing single family homes, based on our experience.
