I contracted a virus that presented with severe dehydration, diarrhea and vomiting, requiring two visits to the Emergency Room. The first visit was approximately three hours and I received one unit of fluid for re-hydration. Second visit I was there a little over an hour. I was charged nearly $10,000 for these two visits. The doctors and nurse were adequate, nothing special, no special treatment or concern. It took several weeks to recover and I nearly relapsed when I received the bill. I have never seen anything so grossly overpriced, especially for such marginal treatment. It certainly helped me make the decision to transfer all of our medical care needs over to St. Luke's.

The appointment for the check took a couple of weeks lead time. The office visit went OK, although Dr Swanson seemed to have his own preconcieved opinions and would not listen to a complete description of symptoms or a complete question. I went for blood/urine testing after the visit. They did not get back to me with the test results. I called them several days later, and they said that they would look up my records for the test results, but again, they didn't return a call. My wife went into the office and, after going through the privacy hassle, got a copy of my test results.
