How i chose TaxACT was more time consuming & fearful. First --TRUST ISSUES! Here i was planning to give our years worth of accounting info WITH ALL the very real SCARES re IDENTITY THEFT!!
& how would i know to trust them--well --
ANGIES LIST! the reviews were mixed. I am glad i could read between the lines & do a test drive to determine that i was up to our collaboration. Also, when i checked the prices taxACT was the best deal.
Something to prepare for if u r on the genetic side of 'running late'. They have a great "what u need to have ready" when u start the process. it disappears quickly. COPY/PASTE!
When I called--- Each time--even 2 days 2GO! the screener was polite & patient & directed me to the correct specialist--& always told me bout how long a wait it would be---@ 20 mins.was the most---so they must hire enough STAFF!
They do offer to be ones official Tax Preparer for an extra SUM--under $50. & it's a "money back within 1 month if 1 changes their mind offer". Thought 2 take it but "could NOT FIND IT ---HELLO & THANKS taxACT!!!"
As a long-time user of TaxAct not so good! Their software performed as advertised, except they billed $12.99 and $5 for the service. This after I visited the site searching for and thought I'd found a free product, based on their advertisements.
In the past, some ten or more years, I'd purchase their premium package for about $21, which included Federal and State with free e-file of the federal. The free product only cost me $17.99 even though it implied a free federal e-file!
Next year I'll find a better product.
I've tried in vain to find a means to express my displeasure on their website; they don't provide such!
