We engaged JD's Glassworks to refinish our front door (and accompanying sidelights) after several years of Southern sun. After various calls directly to the Owner (Jerry Douthit) over a period of 30 days, the Company finally sent someone to our home from their Sales organization to provide a detailed quote (or so we thought). The Quote provided was ultimately accepted and a date to remove the front door was scheduled. When Jerry's team arrived to remove the front door, they realized that the wood was fir and that they did not have the capability to refinish it. It would have been nice of JD's Glassworks to have noticed this on the date that they were to initially visit the house and provide a detailed quote. Again, something we were told by the Owner himself that would happen. Unfortunately, it didn't - the Company merely provided a quote based upon pictures admittedly (by Wes Hofferber, JD's Glassworks Sales Manager) obtained off of Zillow and likely actual costs they had incurred from refinishing a neighboring home's front doors (through which the reference came to us). Unfortunately, the result was a complete waste of time. While I was glad that the crew sent to remove the door and accompanying sidelights was competent enough to recognize the issue and bring it to our attention, we are equally disappointed that this didn't happen four weeks ago as it should have. When I spoke with the Salesman, Wes Hofferber, and subsequently the Owner, Jerry Douthit, their response was essentially one of indifference, which was both disturbing and disappointing. All I wanted was recognition that they had wasted our time and a simple apology, but I guess this was too much to ask of them. Rather they took the approach to label me as being "pathetic" (Jerry's words directly to me) for bothering to call them about the issue "when life is full of more profound circumstances." Not much I could say in response to Jerry while I was speaking directly with him this morning other than that it was a disappointing response and I hope he treats other customers in a more positive way.

We contacted Mr. Wes Hofferber, Sales Account Manager, to discuss adding custom-designed leaded glass windows to our transom windows in our living room. Wes drove 45 minutes from JD's Glasswork's Woodstock office to our home to meet with us. He showed us some brochures of their products and made some preliminary suggestions. We then drove to the Woodstock store to meet with Wes. We had some ideas in mind but were somewhat overwhelmed with the variety of designs and glass type selections. Fortunately, we were in good hands with Wes. Not only is he very patient, he is also very knowledgeable and experienced to make just the right recommendations. Wes submitted 2 quotes for two different designs. Although we had no experience purchasing custom lead glass windows, the quotes came in within ~ 3% of what I told my wife to expect; I was quite surprised and very pleased. We expected a 2 to 3 week turn-around from the date we ordered the windows. They were ready in less than two weeks! We are extremely pleased with the quality and beauty of the design. They really add a nice accent to our living room. The professionalism of Wes and the installers is commendable! The installers arrived on time, removed the existing blinds and patched small holes. When the installers left, my wife received a call from the owner wanting to know if we were satisfied with the windows. This kind of attention to detail and customer service is missing from so many businesses that it was a refreshing experience and pleasure to work with Wes and the staff from JD's Glassworks. I highly recommend JD's Glassworks for custom designed leaded windows (they do doors too). JD's Glassworks offers great value in terms of service, price, and quality work; I don't think you will find a better value in Georgia!
