"Ewing Automotive 3262 Lenora Church Rd. Snellville, GA 30039 770-972-2236 Customer called me several times to discuss his transmission problem. He stated he had his truck checked by other shops and each told him he needed a transmission. He stated to me that everybody that has done work for him before has cheated him. I felt leery of this but I have done work for him in the past. He told me to order his transmission before he brought the truck, he requested that the parking brakes be adjusted - check shocks front & rear - check steering, has play. The truck was driven to check the transmission and the steering and it defintely had a transmission noise. The transmission pan was pulled and there was metal in the transmission pan. Customer DID NEED the transmission that was replaced. Other noises were detected when test driving truck after installing transmission. This is not unusual that a vehicle can have multiple problems or noises at the same time, some are louder. One of the noises was the bearings in his alternator, which we replaced with his approval. Another noise was the rear differential bearings, which he was informaed about. When checking the shocks and play in the steering, this is when we informed him he needed upper & lower ball joints, idler arm, pitman arm and tie rod ends. Customer is confused about the difference in a throttle body and a torque convertor. The throttle body is on top of the engine and the torque convertor is in the transmission. He stated that I told him his noise was the throttle body. During our conversations I never mentioned a throttle body. Even though he brought the vehicle back because of a noise I worked with him to correct or find out what the noises were. It is ofen hard to explain to someone who does not understand the mechanics of a vehicle. It can be frustrating when your customer accuses you of not replacing his transmission and you did and you confront him with saying that and he denies it, which is the same thing as calling you a liar. He stated that his noise is gone, so what is the problem? He stated that he paid for a transmission which he feels he may have not needed. I feel this is where his frustration lies. Customer still has his 3 year or 100,000 mile Warranty and I will stand behind that Warramty. I have been in business for 36 years. That would be very hard to do if I was unprofessional and dishonest as this customer has stated. Billy Ewing"
