The initial estimate and measurement visits went quite well. However, it took a very long time to get the windows. Once they finally arrived, four of them had to be remeasured and reordered, taking another week and a half. We were told that all of the windows would be vinyl, but one of them (the highest, at 18ft), is bare wood on the inside; it was left unpainted. The workers were very friendly and proficient, but I'm not sure I would use windows from the company Dr. Roof uses.

They did a great job. The salesman came out and inspected the roof with the insurance company to ensure they saw the damage calling for a complete roof. Once on the job they had a supervisor call me and let me know how the process went. Also no money upfront

I thought I needed a new roof because of several leaks in my house. But after their inspection Dr. Roof said that I could just have several of the tiles replaced and re-do the flashing and that should fix the problem. There were also Cracked bushings around the vent pipes that they replaced.

DR ROOF: ROOFING & HARDIE SIDING DR ROOF ROOFING <<>> We have no relationship. (I retired last millennium.) The length of this dissertation proves it: No marketing expert worth his/her salt would write such a long treatise. I have probably already lost you. VERY IMPORTANT: Read next FIVE paragraphs at a minimum. Dr Roof will NOT give you back your deductible if replacing with insurance reimbursement/payment due to damage. (Mine was damaged by hail, as were all my neighbors.) Of all roofers I interviewed this is the only one that did not offer to refund my deductible. Before I asked Dr Roof volunteered up front they would not do so. (To do so is immoral and illegal, fraud against the insurance company.) PLUS, their price was comparable to the others but gave me a FAR better roof SYSTEM than others proposed. I would NOT deal with any company that offers to refund an insurance deductible: If unethical enough to cheat my insurance company how could I expect them not to cheat me? Since they will not know why you are replacing the roof, as a way to determine their honesty you might want to ask prospective roofers about a possible refund of the hail damage insurance deductible even if you are not replacing for that reason. If they pass the test be sure to let them know it was just a test. If they fail, move on to the next contractor on your list. After they submit their proposal ask for the GAF Golden Pledge Warranty. Very few installers are qualified to offer it. Double-check with GAF whether they are indeed qualified to offer it. Research GAF's Golden Pledge Warranty BEFORE contacting a roofer! It covers the entire SYSTEM including tear off, disposal, materials (underpayments, boots, flashing, shingles--EVERYTHING) AND labor. It is NOT PRORATED, and it is from GAF, not the roofer. It IS transferable. If you are military or a veteran, ask for the GAF Roofs for Troops rebate. Let Dr Roof know of any special concerns about plants or coverage/protection of decks, ETC. See my previous response to another query for the remarkable way the protected mine. Edited on 12.5.16 Here it is: A thorough explanation of why Dr Roof stands out from others. DR. ROOF RECOMMENDATION - REFERRAL Several words come to mind: THOROUGH, EXCEPTIONAL, EXPERTISE, EXCEEDS ALL EXPECTATIONS, HONESTY Dr. Roof has my unconditional recommendation. I am a retired Delta Air Lines pilot. As you might imagine, typically pilots are sticklers for perfection. At my age, I have experienced many different contractors of all types (I have owned, both now and in the past, multiple residences). No other contractor of any type I have hired has even approached the professionalism, craftsmanship, thoroughness, and attention to details of Dr. Roof. In both GAF Golden Pledge roofing and iHardiePanel and HardieSiding installation, Dr. Roof used techniques and materials I did not know existed. These are important. Shortcuts, improper or sloppy techniques, and substandard or improper materials can lead to an unsightly roof or premature failure. Something as simple as nail selection for the aluminum flashing can make a big difference: The easiest way is to just fish a roofing nail out of the tool belt pocket. But those are galvanized. The roofer has to be trained and supervised to use aluminum nails for aluminum flashing or the nails will quickly corrode (rust) staining the roof and failing to hold. My employment as a pilot provided me enough time between trips to be actively involved during any contractor's work. For example, I read books before seeking proposals for my previous roof so I would be familiar with industry standards and practices. To insure the proper materials and techniques were used for both my last two roof replacements I was on the roof almost the entire time when both the new roofs were was being installed. I had thought the the first roofers did a superlative job. That was until hail damaged the roof and it was replaced by Dr. Roof. I then discovered how to replace a roof properly with no compromises, no shortcuts, advanced material selections, and unique techniques--none of which I found in roofing books. Simply AMAZING. Furthermore, Dr. Roof's workers protected my large and expensive Trex deck by covering it with 4'x8' sheets of plywood, followed by a new large tarp, followed by another, older, tarp (probably to protect the new tarp). This was AFTER my wife and I had already covered it with very large panels of cardboard. They used large tarps to make awnings around my home so they could divert any scraps to more tarps laid on the ground to collect roofing materials. An awning and ground tarp were even installed above the already protected deck--I do not think anything even reached the protected deck. It took three days to remove and replace my roof. Each day they would clean up THOROGHLY, pack everything up--including the awning and ground tarps, and the next day reinstall the awning and ground tarps. For the removal, they took the extra effort to haul all the old materials across my roof to my driveway, rather than drop them into a landscaped areas. In the end, they left NOTHING behind, and did NO DAMAGE to my landscape. I never found a single nail (we are ornamental garden enthusiasts--we would have found them), and only four pieces of about 1" wide 18" long pieces of transparent film that keep the shingles from sticking together at the adhesive strip. The film strips are so light they probably blew beyond the tarps, so that was fully expected and acceptable. I mention these time consuming details because they show the extra effort the contractor was willing to make to do a good overall job. They showed the same attention to detail when installing the roof. They were very methodical. They never rushed. The roofers were AMAZING. And they did not cost any more than the run-of-the-mill roofer. AMAZING. In case you are interested, Dr. Roof’s Huso and Marino of Dr Roof's siding and carpentry division have done several projects carpentry projects for me, including both HardieSiding, HardiePanel, and replacing some rotted window framing and trim. They could not be better (sorry, I don't know the name of the division). I do not have enough superlatives. They also are AMAZING. I could not ask for better craftsmen. And they are craftsmen, not ordinary carpenters. BTW, I received proposals from several roofing contractors to replace my roof due to hail damage. (Paid by USAA Insurance, insurers of only active and former military.) Dr. Roof was the only roofer not to offer to refund my insurance deductible. If a contractor is dishonest enough to cheat an insurance company, how can he be trusted not to cheat a homeowner? Moreover, USAA Issuance accepted their proposal price. It was, after all, essentially the same as the others (miraculously). Edited on 12.5.16 DR ROOF HARDIE SIDING INSTALLATION EXPERIENCE & CAVEATS DR ROOF did mine. (Dr Roof has siding and painting divisions.) It's been installed for several years, and it looks like it did the day they installed it, including that portion receiving a lot of sun and heat because its on the south side overlooking a large roof area. IF you have Hardie products installed, be sure to FIRST go to the Hardie website to get their list of approved/certified installers. It's the only way to get a VALID Hardie warranty. Hardie products ABSOLUTELY REQUIRE special techniques and materials. I believe most installers either do not care or are ignorant of these facts. The key is to get a qualified, certified installer. Read about it at the Hardie website. For instance if the nails are pounded into the siding so that they dimple the siding, they might as well not be there. They nails also must be nailed in very specific areas. Special materials MUST be installed before the siding to ensure longevity. I would NEVER attempt to install myself. How do I know? I tried it. And I am fairly handy at DIY. I gave up and had Dr. Roof replace my minimal attempt (one small area), even though I had thoroughly researched all of Hardie's specifications online. The stuff is extremely heavy. It is NOT something you want to do high off the ground. Edited on 12.5.16
