Jeff had come to do the work. He was working with me to make the price work for what I needed done, which I appreciated greatly. It probably took a little under an hour and I had my new faucet installed with no issues so far. He also alerted me to a mold issue that I needed to take care of, so that is something I will do over the next couple days. I had another professional from Pell Plumbing (Robert) out last week to fix a toilet leak and replace the garbage disposal and was extremely happy with that experience as well. Hopefully I wont have any plumbing needs soon but I will use Pell again.

Came home after work to find my water heater leaking from the bottom. Knowing it was at it's end of life, I knew I had to replace it rather than fix it. Found this Angie's List deal for a flat rate of $875 to install a water heater. Called Pell Plumbing before I purchased the deal to see when they could install. After some back and forth, Jeff (the owner) was able to come out the next day, a Saturday. He called Saturday morning and said he could be there earlier than originally scheduled, which was fine with me. When he arrived and inspected everything, he advised to replace the expansion tank and cut off valve due to age and possible malfunction. A bit surprised by this (cost almost $300), but went ahead and agreed to have it done since he had been so accommodating to me by getting out the next morning. Overall, knowledgeable and helpful and even talked me through draining the water heater over the phone. Wasn't over the top friendly, but I was just glad he was there to help me in my situation and at a fair price through the Angie's List deal.

Overall, the folks from Pell were very responsive, though I did feel that they could have done a little better. They did not check the water pressure during the first visit - another plumber notified me about the water pressure being too high. They also did not check it until after the water heater had been replaced and after I asked them about it. It was only then that they checked and told me that the warranty on the heater would be void if they did not fix the PRV - that is additional cost, and should have been brought up before the work was started. I also had to remind them to check the faucets and toilets which was included as a service in the offer that I purchased.

Very quick response on the angies list message system on a Sunday night by none other than the owner. I made an appointment for Tuesday, but they were able to fit me in on Monday. Jeff and Mike came out. They were thorough and explained every step. They snaked the main sewage line one to remove any big blockages and then a second time to ensure the line was clear of roots. There were a lot of roots. There price was very reasonable compared to another company that was out here a year prior for the same issue who had charged more, having done less work and were unpleasant to deal with. Jeff and Mike are top notch. No question I will be using them for any future plumbing work. My confidence is restored that there are exceptional people with integrity, honesty and fairness.

Robert was very professional and Honest, showed up on time , diagnosed and gave a quote to replace the water heater within 10-20 minutes. I appreciated Pell's quick response to my Angie's List email request for service. They honored the coupon purchased through Angies List. The owner of this company is also very courteous and patient to listen to your entire problem and then answer. Very trust worthy and reliable provider. Our water heater was 12 years old and it started leaking and was rusting. Robert came with the new water heater and quickly removed the old one and professionally connected the new copper pipes. He enhanced and explained the situation as to how bad the earlier pipes were connected to the water pressure tank. He connected it as per codes. Did the Job right without adding any hidden charges. These guys are not salesy, and they do the job right to fix the issue. I will recommend this company highly for all plumbing issues and Water heater replacements.

The first time the plumber came to our house I thought the estimate was expensive at $507, which included a 10% coupon reduction for Angie's List customer. Since we had just updated our kitchen with new granite counter tops, appliances and fixtures, we decided to have a professional plumber do what we hoped would be a top notch job on the plumbing hookup. We had already purchased a new low noise disposal, new low noise dishwasher, new composite sink and new faucet fixture. The plumber deleted the previous 3 p-traps and the new hookup used only one p-trap. In order to get the PVC pipes to fit well under the sink, he also used a flexible (rubber) connector in one area instead of a PVC pipe fitting. This was a noisy solution as the dishwasher drained into the garbage disposal. My husband was not happy to see a rubber fitting instead of a PVC one. The new faucet was installed slightly crooked, leaning a bit forward. After the plumber was finished and on his way back to his truck, I noticed the pipe was leaking a drop. My husband ran out the door to catch the plumber before he left to have him fix that leak and another leak we found upon close inspection. I called the owner, Jeff Pell the next morning and explained to him that I thought we should have had 3 p-traps installed for the price we paid: one for the dishwasher, one for the disposal and one for the sink. I also told him that the faucet was installed slightly crooked. Jeff sent the same plumber back to our home the following day to redo the plumbing job. I must say, the plumber was very responsive, punctual and professional. He redid the entire job with 3 p-traps and no flexible fittings. He straightened out the faucet fixture. There was no additional charge for the redo of the job. The end result was an "A". If he had done this job the first time I would given this job an "A" rating. But the fact that the first job was a "C" at best means I had to average the two experiences. Jeff the owner also called me later in the day to see if I was satisfied with the work and I told him I was. I do not think I would hire this company again however because of the unsatisfactory first experience.

Technically appeared to go well. Time will tell! My fault was not doing any price comparison for this job. Referred only to reviews on Angie's List. My disappointment is how arbitrary the price was determined, which after "post mortem" research appears to be very excessive. I first contacted Jeff the owner who gave me a "sight unseen" estimate of $270.00, but this was based on an exact description of my tank set up.. When job was completed by "Rob" he first said "$365.00". When I explained Jeff's estimate, Rob without hesitation came back with $289 which I paid. Rob's first price quote seemed to me to out of "Thin Air" So I therefore did my price research which disclosed that the retail cost of materials (the Expansion Tank and a Tee Connection) was about $80 to $90 meaning I paid about $200 for 1/2 hour (or less) for labor (equals $400 hourly rate). My embarrassment was there was a visitor sitting in my kitchen observing this exchange at the time!

When he arrived, he told me I needed a part for the toilet. Then I asked him to check the others. Four of the others needed only the little flapper. He charged me $25 per part for non-Toto toilets and $50 per part for the Toto toilets. That's $150 for four little rubber flappers. Then I asked him if he could install three of my new faucet fixtures for three of my bathrooms. He charged me $250 for the installation for EACH of the sinks. That was an additional $750. So for a $69 deal, I paid him $969. I believe he completely overcharged me. I had a fourth faucet I needed installed but I did not use Pell Plumbing. I used another vendor on Angie's list and he charged me $85. And it was a very difficult installation. It took him hours. He had to file the pipes and refit the faucet. Because he was late, he did not charge me for the extra work. I would never use Pell again because of the overcharging.
Description of Work: replaced the flappers (rubber rings) in 4 of my toilets, replaced plunging mechanism in another and installed new faucets in three of my bathroom sinks. The Angie’s List coupon for $69.00 includes an adjustment & inspection for one toilet. The coupon also states the discounted service is to be used during normal business hours. At customers request, an appointment was scheduled for Saturday, 8.1.15, which is not normal business hours. Pell Plumbing decided to honor the coupon with no additional charges. Upon inspection, the toilet did require a new fill valve (not included in coupon) but the fill valve was installed free of charge. The technician was then asked to inspect all additional toilets, which also required repair parts. The flappers that were needed for her Toto toilets are not part of our truck stock and needed to be special ordered. As a result, a 2nd trip was scheduled for the following Saturday, 8.8.15, to install the flappers. Once we knew the cost of the flappers, the customer was quoted the installed price prior to any work was performed, which the customer approved. In addition, the first floor powder room needed a new fill valve and that was also installed free of charge. As far as the installation of customer supplied faucets, this work was not recommended by Pell Plumbing, rather it was a request made by the customer. Our company policy dictates all prices to be given before any work starts, giving the customer the option of saying yes or no. The prices for the requested work was approved prior to any work being performed. In addition to the purchase of the $69.00 Angie’s List coupon, the total for the work performed on 8.1.15 was $675.00 for 5.5hrs of work and necessary material; and the total for the work performed on 8.8.15 was $175.00 for 1hr labor and material. The time spent onsite is confirmed by our GPS truck tracking device. We also averaged 30 minutes in travel time for both trips As far as the plumber who worked for $85.00 for hours on end, I would like to know his name because if he’s willing to work for free, I want to hire him.

After only about 6 months, our whole-house hot water recirculation system that was installed as part of a master bathroom remodel quit working, and the contractor that performed the work has retired and moved out of state. So I found Pell Plumbing on Angie's list and gave them a call. Jeff showed up at the scheduled time, and listened as I described the "the symptoms". He decided the problem was air in the line and installed an isolation valve and drain valve and vented the system. He also discovered that part of the original check valve appeared to not be working properly, so he replaced it as well. The whole process only took about 90 minutes, and was about $400. Unfortunately, his work didn't fix the problem. When I called to let him know the problem still existed, he quickly scheduled a time to come back and continue troubleshooting. Knowing that air in the line wasn't the problem, he reconfigured some piping and instlled a different style check valve. As he was cleaning up, I began to prepare myself for a discussion on what the charges for the additional work might be. To his credit, Jeff simply shook my hand and got in his truck. This was not a straight-forward job like installing a faucet, so it was not unreasonable that the "most likely" problem did not turn out to be the root cause. Four hundred dollars to braze in a few valves and copper joints is a lot of money, but I realize that I was paying for his knowledge and expertice, not just his time. And to have someone do the work professionally and honor his committment to "do it right" is priceless. You might be able to find someone who will work cheaper, but I doubt you will find one who is better. I hope I don't need a plumber in the future, but if I do, Pell Plumbing will be the first people I call.

Bought the $90 Angie's List coupon and hired them to come out about a stinky shower drain and a leaky toilet. They couldn't ID the cause of the smell but offered to clean it for $250+, although they couldn't guarantee that would fix it. Thanks, but no thanks. As for the leaky toilet, they didn't have the right part but said they'd order it and call the next day to set up a time to come back out. Didn't hear anything for a few days, so I had to contact them. They came back out a day or two later and fixed the toilet in a couple minutes at a cost of about $140. That's not so bad, but I was bothered when they told me they had not and would not apply the $90 coupon to the repair because "that's only if its done during the first visit." That's not in the terms and conditions of the coupon and wasn't mentioned during the first visit. I'd normally chalk this up as a misunderstanding or miscommunication, but I didn't appreciate that the guy snapped at me in my own house when I simply and politely asked if it would apply. Some things aren't worth the hassle so I just said "that's fine" and let it drop. On the plus side, he did take a few minutes to give me a rough quote on a sink installation, the toilet seems to be working fine now, and the woman who handles scheduling was really nice and helpful. I like to give folks the benefit of the doubt (who knows, maybe the guy was just having a bad day), so I may give them my business again in the future. But I can't say they excelled this time around.

Pell Plumbing had excellent reviews on Angie's List. They replied the same day and scheduled the work for the following day. The plumber arrived at the scheduled time, checked out the problem and then crawled through a small opening into the crawl space to repair the burst pipe. He checked out a couple of other issues at no charge as there was no repair necessary.
