The big box sports stores carry limited main stream gear, not necessarily the best stuff, but adequate. We wanted decent grade gear and to be able to try different brands. Bob was excellent sales person, did not pressure us to any specific machine and actually down-sold as one model we were looking at was available in a less expensive model and had same core components without some bells and whistles we did not need. They arranged delivery and Matt brought the machines out and set them in. He was very punctual (especially considering how bad Atlanta traffic is) and set them up quickly and tested everything to make sure it all worked. I like supporting local businesses and with most fitness gear everyone has them for the same price, so why have it shipped and assemble myself when I can support the local business and get them delivered and built.
