AC Squad LLC

My then 13 year old system, both units started started losing refrigerant regularly last summer. I called Estes. Their tech basically told me to ditch my furnaces and ACs because they are old. That's no reason to ditch anything. I had him recharge them to the tune of $77/lb of refigeratent. that set me back 4 or 500 bucks. Lost more a month later, called Coolray, and they told me likely my coils were bad. Not merely fishing for sales, they quoted me $1800/unit on the coils and that since we were near end of season, recommended I might find an independent HVAC guy to install them a little cheaper in the off season. I have always liked Coolray because of their customer service and honesty. I get a referral for Randy Holt and AC Squad from a great friend at work. He and his son (who I later learned started his career with Coolray. Besides being genuinely nice like his dad, this did not surprise me) spent 1.5 to 2 hours trying to diagnose the problem, including a leak test that's been quoted by other outfits (Coolray, Estes, Total Aircare) at like $130-150. They did not even charge me. Randy told me the same diagnosis as what Coolray had suspected. Since it was end of season, I wait until Spring. I have Randy install the coils in May, but there was still a concern that if I ran out again, the problem would be my compressors. Well, I continued to loose refrigerant. I had to make a choice. Before I'm scheduled, Randy has come out twice to charge up my units (his price is $66/lb refrigerant) to ensure I am comfortable. Neither time he charged me. I'm going to say it again, he never charged me those two times for refrigerant. That stuff is not cheap! Today he installed my two new Amana compressors at a reasonable price. Randy and AC Squad are professional, courteous, prompt, honest, thorough, efficient, and reasonably priced. I highly recommend them.
