Fast forward to August 31st, I get a large purchase notification and find out I have a large charge from Lifetime. I immediately text Jesse and ask him if he could tell me what the charge was about. He replies nonchalantly "of course it's your second charge for the month of August training"! I was shocked. I immediately said he knew full well I had never agreed to that. He said I could come in and he could explain in person! I said of course I'm not going to make a special trip to a gym to discuss something we already discussed in person and via text and I have your reply saying "No Problem"! The fact that he was trying to insist I had agreed to this was unbelievable. I right away called the GM Chris Weiner. He in turn had a trainer named Nate call me. In between me touching base with Nate. I sent Jesse an email reminding him of our in person conversation on August 6th and our texts on August 11th. He then replied and said he took care of charge, and he was under a different impression! I checked first thing Tuesday am and I had gotten a credit but only for the second charge he had sent through for August. I immediately called Nate. Didn't hear back from him that day. Got a call from Shelby Assistant Department Head, played phone tag with her today. I've explained this situation now to 4 different adults at Lifetime. I refuse to deal with Jesse at all at this point. The lack of professionalism is beyond disappointing. It's ironic that signing that agreement made me extremely uncomfortable for the automatic payments, an issue that I was assured wouldn't be an issue by Jesse and yet now it's been twice. Now, I'm being told that Lifetime is going to keep the first amount I was charged for August... a large portion for training that I verbally said I did not want in person and via text and which was acknowledged by the trainer. I just got a call from Shelby the Assistant Department Head telling me I signed a three month training agreement and basically too bad and she also told me I went well beyond my 12 training sessions with Jesse. I still have two remaining as I was out of town entire month of July! It appears now that he's falsified documents to make it appear I had gone over and therefore he has a right to charge me for more. Clearly something nefarious is going on here now. I'm actually shocked by this whole experience. I'm even more shocked at how it's been handled at this Lifetime Club. I want all people considering training to beware, and don't sign that agreement... even if the trainer looks you in the eye and assures you -don't worry you won't be charged, as long as you tell me you don't want another month... to just let them know prior. This has been a real eye opener and unfortunately my first and worst experience with working with a trainer ever. I'm filing a dispute with my credit card, going to BBB and obviously contacting corporate. I refuse to have this large fitness corporation taking money from me that I did not agree to, had no intention of using, told my trainer in person and via text and was assured that I would never have to pay for three months of training actually,... to just let him know I didn't want additional months. Also a notable point. Shelby who was quite rude and dismissive, said in regard to the texts I have from Jesse acknowledging that I didn't want training for the month of August and saying "no problem etc", Shelby's response said " in all due respect, texts don't really prove anything, your three month agreement you signed does". I once again reiterated in disbelief, that I reluctantly signed that only after Jesse assured me that I would not be charged for anything more than 1 month of training as long as I let him know I didn't want another month. She just dismissed it and said go to corporate, we aren't doing anything at our club level. I put in one last call to the General Manager Chris Weiner to relay my phone conversation with Shelby and the refusal to credit me back and now Jesse trying to falsify and say I trained well above and beyond my 12 sessions, which is a complete fabrication. I still had two sessions left since I was out of town most of the summer. Honestly I'm in disbelief of this whole experience. Training is supposed to be a good experience... it's now become one of the most stressful experiences I've had to deal with in a long time. Thankfully I've been working out on my own and doing even better on my own! Now more work to do though to get this resolved appropriately. I thought the trainer was a nice young man... he used to mention the club being behind in profits etc., and the stress to bring in the business. I unfortunately now know some of their methods first hand to get those numbers looking better. I don't know if the stress to bring in business for himself drove him to be this dishonest... what I do know now is he's a liar and completely unprofessional. It's unfortunate as the rest of the club itself is quite nice and well maintained. I'm now cancelling our family membership due to this experience though and will go to a new club.
The only negative so far is that the bottom of the pool seems to be quite dirty, so I would like to see it drained and cleaned more often. Also the family swim times are too limited. My daughter is 11 and a very strong swimmer but is limited to when and where she can swim.
