Forget getting a basic routine to come in and do on your own. They won't do that. Immediately they start pushing their training... of course expensive training. I reluctantly agreed to do one month of training and two nutritional consults with Jason, who by the way is a wonderful nutritionist and professional.I was reluctant only because, Jesse the trainer said "well you have to set up automatic payments for 3 months", which I immediately said, but I only will commit to one month, I won't do or pay for anything but one month. Jesse immediately said " it's no problem just tell me you don't want another and I'll make sure it doesn't go through". He alleviated my concern and therefore I agreed to one month. I traveled for entire month of July and fortunately my 12 sessions didn't expire, so I was doing sessions when I could. Jesse was pressuring to get me to agree to another month but I said definitely not, and to make sure I didn't have another charge going thru for the month of July. He assured me he took care of and I wouldn't be charged. About to board a plane and I get a large purchase notification that I thankfully have alerts set up for anything over $500. I had been charged by Jesse/Lifetime Fitness for another month of training. I immediately texted Jesse and asked him why I was charged. He apologized, didn't explain why he didn't do what he said he had done, but finally credited my card back the full amount. I was getting close to the end of my sessions and I started giving Jesse a heads up that I didn't think I could commit to another month as it was really expensive and a luxury I really couldn't continue with for myself. He kept trying to get me to commit to another month. On Thursday, August 6th I went in for a training session. He once again pressed the issue. I said I just didn't know I could make the financial commitment. I told him I really needed to look at my budget and had been insanely busy with kids getting ready to go back to school. He told me he could push payment dates back etc. if that would help and I said good, but I still need to look at the budget and let him know. He said sure" just let me know". I let him know the morning of Tuesday, August 11th that I finally had a chance to look at the budget and it was something I wasn't comfortable committing to financially for anymore months and I just had to train on my own from now on. I thanked him etc. He replied via text "No problem, you still have some sessions remaining, you can finish at anytime, let me know if I can help you in anyway" Fast forward to August 31st, I get a large purchase notification and find out I have a large charge from Lifetime. I immediately text Jesse and ask him if he could tell me what the charge was about. He replies nonchalantly "of course it's your second charge for the month of August training"! I was shocked. I immediately said he knew full well I had never agreed to that. He said I could come in and he could explain in person! I said of course I'm not going to make a special trip to a gym to discuss something we already discussed in person and via text and I have your reply saying "No Problem"! The fact that he was trying to insist I had agreed to this was unbelievable. I right away called the GM Chris Weiner. He in turn had a trainer named Nate call me. In between me touching base with Nate. I sent Jesse an email reminding him of our in person conversation on August 6th and our texts on August 11th. He then replied and said he took care of charge, and he was under a different impression! I checked first thing Tuesday am and I had gotten a credit but only for the second charge he had sent through for August. I immediately called Nate. Didn't hear back from him that day. Got a call from Shelby Assistant Department Head, played phone tag with her today. I've explained this situation now to 4 different adults at Lifetime. I refuse to deal with Jesse at all at this point. The lack of professionalism is beyond disappointing. It's ironic that signing that agreement made me extremely uncomfortable for the automatic payments, an issue that I was assured wouldn't be an issue by Jesse and yet now it's been twice. Now, I'm being told that Lifetime is going to keep the first amount I was charged for August... a large portion for training that I verbally said I did not want in person and via text and which was acknowledged by the trainer. I just got a call from Shelby the Assistant Department Head telling me I signed a three month training agreement and basically too bad and she also told me I went well beyond my 12 training sessions with Jesse. I still have two remaining as I was out of town entire month of July! It appears now that he's falsified documents to make it appear I had gone over and therefore he has a right to charge me for more. Clearly something nefarious is going on here now. I'm actually shocked by this whole experience. I'm even more shocked at how it's been handled at this Lifetime Club. I want all people considering training to beware, and don't sign that agreement... even if the trainer looks you in the eye and assures you -don't worry you won't be charged, as long as you tell me you don't want another month... to just let them know prior. This has been a real eye opener and unfortunately my first and worst experience with working with a trainer ever. I'm filing a dispute with my credit card, going to BBB and obviously contacting corporate. I refuse to have this large fitness corporation taking money from me that I did not agree to, had no intention of using, told my trainer in person and via text and was assured that I would never have to pay for three months of training actually,... to just let him know I didn't want additional months. Also a notable point. Shelby who was quite rude and dismissive, said in regard to the texts I have from Jesse acknowledging that I didn't want training for the month of August and saying "no problem etc", Shelby's response said " in all due respect, texts don't really prove anything, your three month agreement you signed does". I once again reiterated in disbelief, that I reluctantly signed that only after Jesse assured me that I would not be charged for anything more than 1 month of training as long as I let him know I didn't want another month. She just dismissed it and said go to corporate, we aren't doing anything at our club level. I put in one last call to the General Manager Chris Weiner to relay my phone conversation with Shelby and the refusal to credit me back and now Jesse trying to falsify and say I trained well above and beyond my 12 sessions, which is a complete fabrication. I still had two sessions left since I was out of town most of the summer. Honestly I'm in disbelief of this whole experience. Training is supposed to be a good experience... it's now become one of the most stressful experiences I've had to deal with in a long time. Thankfully I've been working out on my own and doing even better on my own! Now more work to do though to get this resolved appropriately. I thought the trainer was a nice young man... he used to mention the club being behind in profits etc., and the stress to bring in the business. I unfortunately now know some of their methods first hand to get those numbers looking better. I don't know if the stress to bring in business for himself drove him to be this dishonest... what I do know now is he's a liar and completely unprofessional. It's unfortunate as the rest of the club itself is quite nice and well maintained. I'm now cancelling our family membership due to this experience though and will go to a new club.
Description of Work: I went in to gym to lose some weight and get in better shape after signing all three of my kids up and myself for the summer. My husband has been a member for years. My kids weren't old enough until now to consider adding them all on again. I just wanted to lose some weight and get some basic guidance with training.

The facilities are top notch. It is big. There is more than enough equipment. If you don't use the other aspects, like pool, rock climbing wall, spa then in my opinion, it isn't worth the costs. Make sure that you cancel you membership BEFORE the 1st of the month or you'll have to wait a whole another month.

After a recommendation from a friend, we had a tour of the facilities. Cathy then quoted us for membership. We did not feel pressured to join and went home to think it through. Our daughter had been to the pool as a visitor and loved the resort feel. She said it was like being on vacation! We did sign up and have used most of what is on offer. We were given spa coupons which we used to try the services offered. I have continued to use the spa and see Frances on a regular basis. We were also given visitor passes for my family who visited from out of town. I like to use the pools and my husband uses the gym and personnel training sessions. Lifetime has a very relaxed atmosphere and I feel very comfortable there. They cater for all ages including a child care centre which my grandchildren used when they visited. The only negative so far is that the bottom of the pool seems to be quite dirty, so I would like to see it drained and cleaned more often. Also the family swim times are too limited. My daughter is 11 and a very strong swimmer but is limited to when and where she can swim.

I like them. They do a great job. They're particularly well-suited towards families with small children. Kids under 12 is $10 a month and it's $59 a month for the adult. I'm divorced and I have two boys, so it's only $79 a month for me and the boys to go. They have a childcare center and it's great. It has a computer, has climbing tunnels, basketball, playground with fly screen. They have a lot of stuff that kids would like to go into, and would see it as a fun destination. Their hours are very extensive for the kids. It's like until 8 o'clock at night and from something early in the morning. They have very restricted hours with their childcare center.

I had a family membership. My daughter has a disability and when she turned 21 they said she could no longer be a part of my family membership even though she was in college and still lived at home. I asked them if they could make an exception and their response was 'what makes you so special?' Then when I went in to end my membership and they told me they was no one there that could help me. Eventually I quit my membership and never regretted that decision.

This is a very nice, high-end fitness center. It's huge, so even when there are lots of people there it does not seem crowded. It's very clean, and has lots of amenities - a spa/salon, caf , personal training, child care center, indoor and outdoor pools, fitness classes and group activities. You also get a subscription to their fitness magazine, and it's great to be able to check out activity and class schedules online. I paid almost this much per month a few years ago when I was a member of the YMCA, and it was not nearly as nice. The group classes are great, though usually pretty crowded. It's open 24/7, so I can work out in the morning and get back home before 7:00. My only complaint is that my sales person did not explain the membership process very well to me, so I kept having to call the membership desk and ask questions. The staff are all very professional and friendly, though, so I eventually found out everything I needed to know.
Description of Work: I wanted to join a gym to motivate me to work out, and to provide lots of variety so I won't get bored and quit. I was looking for something open early enough so that I could work out in the morning and get back home before rush hour (I work at home).

My personal favorite are the cycle (spin) classes. I highly recommend this health club.
Description of Work: This fitness center is the best in the area. No other club compares to the amenities Lifetime Fitness offers and the price is very affordable! This club looks like a mini-resort as it offers spa facilities, beautiful outdoor and indoor swimming pools as well as wonderful fitness classes and exercise machines. They have a healthy deli style restaurant inside as well. Even the locker rooms are top notch with cherry cabinets and large showers.

Price-wise, I could stand for the rates to go down here to be honest. I do find the facility to be clean though. They have a lot in there that is good to use if you want to work out. The staff is real nice and like I said, they take good care of the facility itself and offer a lot of different membership plans.
Description of Work: I have a family membership at this local fitness center. It is a huge gym with numerous pools, classes, activities, and recreational centers. Both myself and my family members can use these facilities at all times and take advantage of the programs and workout facilities as we desire. We pay a monthly membership fee for our family plan with them.
