Before going any further, I would to summarize by saying the work was grossly not done according to contract. But, the owner recognized the failures done by his people and refunded all the money. I respect him for that
He had a new estimator that was not always truthful and had some bad installers. Hopefully he will correct that. He seemed very concerned about doing a good job.
The disaster!
About two months later we had a leak. The estimator came out and was going to charge $1500 more to replace some shingles one row above where they did there repair. He claimed that it was not his fault
Note: We had twelve different roofers come out in the beginning to give estimates. in general everyone commented about the poor workmanship by Tanenbaum Roofing. I got pictures. Estimates ranged from $1200 to $9500. As a side note, some of the worst estimates were roofers high on Angie's list. Of the 12 only about 5 I thought had integrity. I assumed that ANC was good.
I first caught the roofers using the wrong shingle material. That was couple week delay. The older roofer never came back after the first day or two. He seemed frustrated with chimney repair. They brought the skylights to our house and I looked in the truck and I was noticed the skylight that I looked at was not the laminated skylight that was ordered. They stopped again and got the right skylights, so I thought. I did not go on the roof to check the roof since I am elderly. It looked good from ground level.
Then the rain came and then the big leak.
As I said above the roofer wanted to charge for his screw-up and gave a false cause of failure. I called out 5 roofers. They took pictures. I sent the pictures to the owner of ANC. They found that three different roofing materials were used.
One of the two skylights was not laminated. They only showed me the one laminate skylight. There were some areas with no shingles with only tar. The joining of the bad areas had spots with no shingles, loose shingles, no tar, shingles with no nails, poor skylight installation. I have pictures.
I decided to have Roof Top Services do the work and they ripped out everything and expanded the replacement area, completely redid the chimney. Cost was $4,300. Great job!
Like I said I respect the owner for returning the money. He needs to get some new people who can do the good job that he expects. If he has new people he needs to personally follow-up.
"Mr. Chanette has been given a 100% refund several months ago. We had resolved 4 out of 5 problems with this older roof which was not been installed properly in the first place. Once the water penetration persisted and Mr. [Member Name Removed] frustrated with the situation, I personally proceeded to give him a full refund. 100% refund on everything we had done, including the 4 areas that were successfully repaired. Mr. Chanette has not given us a penny for all the work we have done and by our choice. I am sorry the repair did not work as sometimes they do not in dealing with older and problematic roofs."
There was punctual and timely completion of the work agreed. They are professional and responsive when contacted. Overall a positive experience. Would use again if needed.
"[Member name removed]'s repair consisted of following a home inspection report and provisions for unforeseen woodwork were put in the proposal/contract. We will proceed to re-send these photos and receipts to [Member name removed] and call to make sure she has them this time. [Member name removed] never called our office to notify us about not having received the photos. The wood damage involved two structural members that could not have been seen from the attic and only were visible once the roof was taken apart. This $900 repair involved removal of over 100 SF of shingles and associated flashing at a gable and overhand location. The area involved a lower and an upper section of the roof. Both levels had rotted wood that further involved reinforcing of the truss members. All associated flashing, underlayment and shingles were replaced and once inspected by the home inspector, many compliments were given to the great work we had provided. As per the contract and wood provisions we invoiced for $1,500. We received $900 and wrote off the balance as did not want to slow down the sale process of this residence. Initial $500 only covered removal of the shingles and re installing of the roofing materials. It didn't cover wood damage. Thank you for using ANC Roofing Inc. Arman Hedayat, President. ANC Roofing may not be the cheapest price on the block; however, we are the best in roofing repair work and that can translate into making the right or the wrong decision by the home owner. Time and time again, ANC Roofing Inc has to re do other peoples work. Work that the home owner is now paying twice for! Our idea of providing great service is to do the work once and provide some of the longest repair warranties in the market. We also go further to provide preventive maintenance to the entire roof system while we are already on the roof. Hire the best and see the difference!"
Couldhave been quicker
Some people didn't let me know when they were coming
Didn't take a credit card because they forgot their machine. I had to write a check.
I had to sign up for a warranty on line! I don't feel comfortable using a computer.

I spoke with Arman (owner) directly who instructed me to send photos to HIS email: [email protected]. I find it curious that he didn't receive them nor my follow-up emails. Anyway...
"Doug was hired after the record rains in September as we had hundreds of calls for estimates. Unfortunately, even though he was referred to ANC by one of the major roofing suppliers, due to personal(family) issues, he was immediately excused. I apologize for any inconvenience caused by this situation and hope that we can accommodate every single call much more efficiently in the future. NOTE: I did not receive any photos from [Member Name]. I received no emails from [Member Name]. NOTE:[Member Name] never spoke to me on the phone. NOTE: There are no messages in the message center from [Member Name}."
