AC Guys Inc

Terrible about sums it up.  A husband wife duo came to the house and gave me an estimate of 4700 to replace existing 2 ton heat pump with 2.5 ton heat pump with next day install.  Too good to be true....A few guys came to the house next day (Saturday) to install new heat pump.  They removed the old one and then saw that the 3 ton they brought wasn't going to fit.  I was upset that they brought a 3 ton to install when a 2.5 ton was ordered.  The guys left and said they would give us a call with the new install date.  Talked to a guy named Randy who said that he would not be able to get any information on the new unit until Tuesday (Monday was memorial day). 
 Well Tuesday I get a call that they will install a 2 ton Wednesday or Thursday.  I spend all day Wednesday waiting for a call.  I ended up calling around 2 pm to be told it would be Thursday around 10 am.  Thursday I get a call saying that the new unit is bigger than the old one and they will have to cut into my roof...of course that is not ok with me. They suggest a split unit, but I have nowhere to put the air handler in my home. I request a packaged unit and they don't want to do that. They are insisting on having the split unit put in with the air handler outside and we can hire someone to build a cabinet around it.  After the run around I am given a price of 5300 for a split system.  I inquire about the brand and model number and Randy seemed to get upset saying he forgot all about adding the expense of a permit and an electrician.  At that point I told him that if he didn't want my business to please just tell me so I could find someone who did.  I ended up ending the call telling him "thank you for his time and thank you for wasting mine".   Would not recommend this company to my worst enemy!

Arrived at noon and left at 2:30...

They were great! We've got one of our units near its last legs and they are trying to extend it so they've been really good about that. They didn't charged us for that because we have purchase a couple of things through them.

I called at 10am due to no AC on a hot summer day and was told someone would be out between 1pm-3pm, but possibly even earlier.  By 2:45 I called to make sure everything was okay, and the lady who answered my call very much seemed like I wasn't scheduled..  She said she needed to call me back.  She called back about 15 minutes later and said they would be at my house "within an hour".  By 4pm, I called again and was told they would be there soon.  A pair of guys that seemed fairly knowledgeable finally showed up around 5pm and went to work to fix my AC.   
After being frustrated by their tardiness, I explained the problem and they had it fixed within 30 minutes.  They replaced a capacitor that had blown an installed a "hard start' which they said would prevent that from occurring in the future..  While they were upstairs writing down the model # of the air handler, they discovered one of the pipes wasnt cold enough which led them to check the Freon level.  I am very glad they did this because they discovered it was fairly low, which was probably the cause of the capacitor blowing.  However, they made it out to seem like it was a very lucky thing that they happened to touch the pipe and discover the freon was low.  That seemed to me like something that should be part of a standard repair job..  Nonetheless, they discovered the problem and added freon.  They then told me I had a leak in the coil, probably, and would check to see if it was still under warranty.  Im waiting to hear back on Tues to see if it is.  
Overall, although they were late, and seemed not to be quite as thorough as they could be, I would sitll use them again.  They were nice, professional, and seemed trustworthy.  I will report back here if my overall impression changes with my continued interaction with them.

The installer arrived on time, introduced himself, explained what he was contracted to do, explained change from original order, went to work, completed job, explained how to work new system, cleaned up and left.
