Essex Electrical Service Inc

Keith ( owner of Essex Electric) is a straight shooter. He gets to the point and is "no-nonsense". We love that about this contractor. He does exactly what he says he is going to do. It's very rare that people say what they mean. I wrote asking for a quote online. It was Sunday evening, and I didn't want to bother him during non-business hours, but I wanted the request to be there for Monday morning. He responded to me immediately. I didn't expect that during non business hours. He said he could come by to take a look at the problem Monday afternoon after he finished a job he had scheduled. I sent him a photo of the box, and he told me it was a Zinsco breaker panel. Insurance companies don't cover this anymore. He said I could look it up online and see for myself. It's a fire hazard. I did look it up, and everything he said to me was correct. It is a very dangerous and obsolete panel. We knew we needed a new electrical box because it was old, and we had been told that before when we had other work done. So this wasn't exactly a surprise, but we had no idea how bad it was.

He arrived exactly at the time he said he would. He brought tools to read the electrical output on what was going on in the panel. He told us that he could be back at 9 am to do the upgrade on the electrical panel.  We asked him how much it would cost. He quoted us the price he has advertised on Angie's list for this exact job. We were surprised because we thought somehow he would come up with other problems that would cost more money. He didn't.  We had been without lights for a week already before we called Keith because we had called a different contractor for a bid. This other contractor came without tools and didn't measure anything on our panel. He told us that our wires had probably burned out in the wall, and he was going to have to rewire those lights. We had to wait 2 days for that contractor to come at all, and then it was going to take 4 more days (over the weekend) before he could fix it. He was telling us we needed a lot of rewiring, and it was a very expensive bid. We decided to get another quote from Keith ( Essex Electric) because we just didn't feel good about spending that much money without at least a second bid. We were shocked at how honest Keith was when he came. He got our lights working and gave us a quote in a 10 min time span. No fooling around. Just straight to the point. I asked him if we needed rewiring. He said "what for"? The new panel should fix the problems. (Some of our breakers had more than one item on them because there wasn't room). Keith won us over in 10 min. We knew we had found the right guy!

Keith arrived right on time in the morning. He has a pleasant disposition, and he didn't do anything that was upsetting in any way. He cleaned up after the job was over.  He didn't make a mess of our wall, and the little he had to spackle, he did a nice job with. We can't even tell he was here ( except for the nice new panel)! He fixed and repaired everything. The new panel looks great. It's clean looking, and Keith labeled everything on the panel, and even has nice writing. After he was finished, he told us if we had any problems to call him, and he would be right back to take care of it. We couldn't be happier with the service we received from Keith. Everything is working better than before. It is a breath of fresh air to have this kind of experience with a contractor. We have no hesitation at all recommending him. If we could give him triple A's, we would.    

The job was scheduled quickly and it was done within 5.5 hours.

Keith of Essex electric to begin with was on time went to work promptly was very organized . the job was done efficiently in the time frame he set., He was polite professional and the job was well done. I would call him in the future without hesitation .






JOB description replacing 2 old fuse boxes . Relabeling fuses making sure all were working correctly ,sealing around the fuse box door . Fixing a 3 way light , and installing a light switch for a ceiling light.

Great experience. Keith answered the phone personally, said he could be here in 90 minutes (I was without power and it was getting warm). He showed up 45 minutes earlier than I expected, diagnosed the problem, had the part in his truck and 20 minutes later my house was cool again.

When I called this provider it was late Sunday afternoon.  I described the issue I was having and although he indicated the problem was outside his area of service (circuit panel installation/replacement) he stayed on the phone with me helping to diagnose a GFI circuit issue.  He was very helpful diagnosing the problem and said he had no problem staying on the line while I checked the series of GFIs that were linked throughout the house.  Great personality and very helpful.  If I had a circuit panel issue I would definitely use Essex to resolve the problem.

He came out on the holiday, didn’t charge me time and a half. Did a great job. Was not able to fix it all on the same day, because he needed an additional part. He did have it temporarily working, but then came back and made sure it worked correctly.

Keith Harrod was punctual, did what he said and said what he meant. He was the most reasonable of several choices for electrical contractors. He did a big job in only 3 hours. As I learned later on, He has a solid reputation amongst building inspectors. This guy is the man for any electrical job.

Exchanged emails with Keith and set up a date and time. Arrived early, installed generator disconnect and cord set. Very clean and neat work. Works perfectly!!! Also had him install outlets in garage. Again delivered more than expected and put double outlets in and patched the ceiling when done. I asked him to take a look at another switch and in 5 mins he fixed. I finally found an electrician I can trust that exceeds my expectations. Hire him!

He was always on time!! Completed work in a timely manner. Request full estimate including everything up front. He was good about changes that were made.

Keith was a great.  Price was lower than others I'd priced, on time, required nothing up front to start, free estimate(not the kind that takes the estimate off of the total bill), and final result was equivalent to art work as it was masterfully and cleanly laid out. Drywall around the electrical box was repaired and painted and the mess cleaned up.  I couldn't be happier and more pleased and would recommend him to anyone needing electrical work.

Keith did an excellent job, we have a duplex home with two meters, and multiple service panels.  He replaced all the panels and breakers and added some other circuits for additional appliances and a pool heater.  He is friendly, very prompt, and a joy to work with.  Highly recommended!

Everything was in working order within 15 minutes of his arrival.  I was very impressed with Keith's professionalism and punctuality . It's a pleasure to work with someone who is not a high pressure salesman.

Work was provided by owner.  He changed out all the electrical outlets in two bedrooms, and replaced an outside outlet.  He did the work in a timely manner and charged a reasonable price for his services.  I had used him in the past also to change our service from fuse box to updated circuit breaker box.  This was also done at a good price and the work was excellent.

He quickly unconnected the broken GFI and connected the new GFI.

Keith was immediately available on phone, called back when he said he would, and arrived the same day.  I asked that he not only repair the outlet, but check and see if any other damage was done or other wiring affected.  He quoted me a service call price, said he would probably be able to do the job within the service hour and did so.  He arrived within 4 hours of my original call, was very professional and charged just what he quoted.  I would definitely recommend him and would call again for any electrical work.

Came on time and work was in a timely manner.  He cleaned up after his work was completed also.  Was a wonderful experience.  I have already referred him to friends.  Would use his again also.

Everything went as planned and Keith was top notch in his approach and work.

From the call to schedule the appointment, to the technician, Carlos Nino, everyone was polite and courteous.  Carlos arrived at the scheduled time, we discussed the job and I was provided with an estimate.  Carlos did the work for me and kept me informed of everything that was being done. He was very polite, friendly and courteous.  The job was completed to my satisfaction and I would highly recommend this company to my friends and neighbors.

Needed a new electrical box and from the time I called to get a quote to the end when the job was done Mr Keith was very professional, he came to my home and replaced my old box in about 5 hours, he was very punctual and everything he said was done exactly the way he explained. Excellent job!

I had sent an email to multiple electricians I had found here on Angie's ne List.  Keith (of Essex) was definitely the "early bird," responding to me IMMEDIATELY!  He had sent me an email response, as well as sent me a text message, and phoned me!
My schedule is very difficult to accommodate, and Keith was sure to come out to my home immediately.  Early the morning of my initial contact, he was at my home, inspecting the problem, and offered me a solution.  In fact, he was even able to take care of the work THAT DAY!!  I had looked into having this work done in the past, but simply hadn't done so as of yet, due to costs.  Keith was able to provide me with a cost that was VERY competitive to the estimates I'd gotten previously. 
Given the level of professionalism and attentiveness (as well as the positive feedback and reviews I found here on Angie's List), I was extremely comfortable in choosing Keith and Essex for the job.
The work itself was PERFECT!!  Keith had sent me pictures of the work being done throughout the process, further reassuring me of my choice in his company.  Many companies/contractors will often NOT want their customer to see the actual process of completion, and just want to get paid.  He was meticulous in his work, and everything was done perfectly.  In fact, he really went above and beyond my expectations-- He took care of finding the matching paint, and painted the box the appropriate color.  We hadn't even discussed the painting of the box, but he went out of his way to FULLY COMPLETE the job successfully.
When everything was done, he had ensured my satisfaction with the job.
